Walnut Capital has been a nightmare to deal with. I have gotten rude calls, lack of communication, constant interruptions of people invading my home when I'm working from home, and endless rude visits from maintenance. I was clearly moving things to my car with my door wide open and a maintenance man came pounding on my doorway to tell me it can't stay in the hall, when it was there five minutes literally for me to move it to the dumpster. Furthermore, I parked my car to move groceries in, and the man on the property told me I could park there, but don't tell anyone, and ten minutes later, I have a sticker on my car telling me they were going to tow it --signed by the same guy that told me I could park there. I moved here to sign a short term lease, and within a week, I was asked to renew my lease...which makes ZERO sense. I thought it was a mistake and another month goes by and I get a BEYOND rude email from the office insisting they've called me incessantly and reached out many time to confirm my move out and I have the right phone number on my profile and ZERO missed calls or emails. I responded IMMEDIATELY to confirm I was, in fact, leaving. To add to it, I'm at work from home, and a man comes pounding on my door again just now, to tell me he needs to see the bathroom and kitchen to see what needs to be updated. Considering I just moved in, what on EARTH would need to be updated and what record of me moving in wouldn't show what the apartment was just re-done with? There is ZERO communication between departments here and I cannot emphasize the importance of consistency and being courteous to your renters. Do not recommend unless you are a wallflower with zero self respect or an affinity for business being done right.

I've live in one of the Elmer street buildings for almost a year. The apartment is clean and well kept, and pet friendly which is a huge plus. They are quick with maintenance repairs and the website for tenants make everything super easy. The grounds are well kept and snow/ice was scraped daily during winter. Its a bit expensive compared to some of the other places in the area, but I think for the quality of the housing and experience, its worth the extra.

We rented an apartment at Bakery Orange since 2016 and had to move to California due to an emergency. We had to break our lease as we had extended it until the August of 2020. They made us pay the penalty of 1 month's rent and made us sign a move out form which said we have to pay rent till they find a new tenant. We were concerned to sign the document but we had no other choice. They keep saying we will find someone to rent the apartment soon but made us pay rent for Dec, Jan and Feb. When we requested and said we have medical emergency, they keep making us wait on call and do nothing about it. Very dissatisfied.

      Response from the owner

We're sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our lease break policy. Unfortunately, we need to treat all residents and circumstances the same and cannot make special exceptions for any reason. I assure you our staff is working diligently to re-rent your apartment as soon as possible. If you have any additional questions pertaining to our lease break policy, feel free to contact our leasing office at: 412-661-0200.

We LOVE it in Lawrenceville and in Lawrenceville Place. Positive points: location is AMAZING, townhome style is nice/layout is great, grounds are always kept up, big attached garage is key, roads are cleared from snow, maintenance is courteous/capable, Kelly Cannavine from Management is very professional & friendly, neighbors are super friendly/helpful and the Walnut Capital Cafe (site - pay rent/maintenance schedule/renew lease) is user friendly and has everything tenant needs to communicate w/Management. Although my rating is a 5 Stars, I did have a rocky start when we initially took the keys; place should have been cleaned more properly from the tenant prior ... stained carpeting, appliances were bad and it could have used a new fresh coat of paint throughout. In the end, Walnut Management was VERY helpful and had all 3 bathrooms painted semi-gloss and has since been on-top of all other maintenance issues. We love it here and hope to stay for awhile.

      Response from the owner

What a wonderful review! We are elated that you are enjoy living at Lawrenceville Place and hope you stay a while too! Thank you for the five stars, Genevieve. We really appreciate it!

Walnut Capital is large and somewhat impersonal (they promised to keep baby safety gates from the previous renter for us, but when we got there the baby safety gates had been removed), but in general it is a fairly tightly run shop. Maintenance is quick and mostly dependable. We would rent from them again.

      Response from the owner

Thanks for the five stars, Raja! We apologize for the oversight regarding the baby gates, we're glad you had a good experience otherwise!

I have only lived here for a couple months, but there were nicely renovated floors and carpet prior to move-in. Rental agency is quick to respond to maintenance requests, so far. I do wish they would keep the grounds a little cleaner around the Hempstead properties as I am constantly picking up trash and plastic bags outside of the building. I also think that they need to offer a refundable pet deposit, as opposed to the current NON-refundable pet deposit that exists.

      Response from the owner

We're glad your experience living with us has been positive so far! We will relay the message to our groundskeepers and maintenance men about the trash around the property and keep it clean from now on. If you would like to discuss the litter or pet deposit further, please call 412.683.3809, we'd be happy to clear things up!

I rented from Walnut Capital for 2 years and I found them to be very accommodating. They were flexible with my move in and move out dates and worked with me. The apartment was exactly as described. Rarely had any issues but when we did, maintenance was prompt.

We love leasing with Walnut Capital. We live in the Walnut on Highland property in the Highland building and just renewed for year two. The building is gorgeous, the amenities are fantastic, and the staff are great. The construction in the area is not the best, but it'll be over soon!

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the review, Olivia! We are so happy you are enjoying your time at Walnut on Highland! Just hang tight - construction will be over in a few short months. We appreciate your understanding and patience during our expansion!

I've lived in a Walnut Capital property for nearly 2 years. I have nothing but positive things to say about them. The property is well maintained and frequently updated. The few maintenance issues that I have had have been promptly addressed and resolved to my satisfaction. All of the employees are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend them.

I have been a tenant of Walnut Capital for almost three years, residing in both Bakery Living and Walnut Towers. They have a top-notch reputation for a reason, especially their maintenance staff. The value for not having anxiety over maintenance issues can't be matched, and is worth spending the little bit extra for compared to slumlords that charge $100-200 less and leave maintenance issues to you, legally or not. I highly recommend WalCap!

      Response from the owner

Thank you so much for your kind words, Richard! We are thrilled you are enjoying Walnut Towers, especially the responsiveness of our maintenance team. Thanks again!
