I've been with Verity Credit union for many years and generally have had a good experience. However, in recent years I've run into many arbitrary limits and "rinky-dink" systems that I've decided to move most of my business elsewhere. The latest frustration: I tried to deposit a check via the Mobile app only to receive an error stating that the check was too large. This, after being told to write "For mobile deposit only". Ugh... So now I'm headed to a branch, during a pandemic. A competitor that I've only been with a few months allows checks up to $50,000. If you have a branch near you and don't mind a few fiddly and arbitrary limits, go for it. Otherwise, bank elsewhere.

Pay higher loan rates and receive atrocious customer service in return. I ended up with a loan here because I purchased a 3rd party vehicle and the title was held by Verity. I figured it would just be easier to keep the loan with them vs. switching to my bank (even though my national bank had lower interest rates). First, it took months of calls and emails to get the plates after they told me they would be sent over in a few weeks. Second, when I paid off the vehicle they lost a $30K check they signed for via certified mail. The only way I realized this was because the title never showed up. It took weeks of emails and calls for them to find the check. Keep in mind, this a bank and they displaced money. Third, they never mailed the title after the vehicle was paid off and weeks more effort has been spent trying to get the title. If you want to see the customer service you will receive, while paying more money for higher rates, just try calling the branch and seeing if anyone picks up the phone.

We are so sorry to hear about your frustrating situation. That is not the level of service we strive to provide and we will review our procedures to ensure this does not happen again. After looking into it further, we see that you have been working with management at the Wallingford branch. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I have filed a complaint against Verity Credit Union with the Consumer Bureau because Verity has been fraudulent in how they've handled my case. They changed their online banking system recently and disabled all auto payments on credit cards - i wasn't made aware of this, and in the meantime, they filed a complaint on my credit which lowered my credit score 100 points. They also claimed my delinquent payment was the entirety of my credit bill which has been accruing interest. Now here's the kicker - i've been calling them for 2 weeks to resolve this, to reactivate my auto payment, and to make a hefty payment but because of how their system has changed, they can't process my payment directly through their system, so i'm late on a payment again. I filed a credit dispute, which they DENIED (what? really!?). They have created such a headache for me, i've devoted so much time to handling this situation, and it's like trudging through mud. Do not bank with them. I have been with them since 2013/2014 and couldn't be more disappointed in how they've handled my case.

      Response from the owner

We are incredibly sorry you have not been receiving the level of customer service we strive to provide—you deserve better. You should have received recent communication about impacts to your credit score due to late credit card payments and steps Verity is taking to change that. We understand changing our credit card program came at a time when people were receiving a lot of communication, and have taken steps to address negative impacts to members who didn’t know automatic payments would need to be re-established. Our records indicate we’ve attempted calling you about your situation, and someone is reaching out again today. If you haven’t been able to connect to someone today, you are also welcome to call our Remote Experience Manager at (206) 361-5396.

Verity is Trash, I joined Verity about 6 years ago when I was starting college, they're supposedly known for working with people who have poor credit, THIS IS FALSE! I have applied for 2 car loans in the past 2 years with an average credit score, these jerks wouldn't even look at me for a car loan, I've even had a personal loan through Verity which has been active for 2 years and never once missing a payment. Not only would they not loan to me but they didn't even contact me to deny me. Capital One however did finance me with a 12% interest rate, again not great but not awful either, my own credit union who I've been with for 6 years never missing a loan payment or anything wouldn't give me anything, the only good thing I can say about Verity is that they refund your atm fees from other banks, other than that they're no better than the bank of America I transferred from!

Today I spoke with Nicole Krasy. She is the individual who handles insurance matters in Member Solutions. She was incredibly rude and it was apparent that providing me with a solution was not a priority for her. She has a nasty attitude and it is sad I can detect that from a 10 minute phone call. Verity has been good to me but SHE poorly represents the company! I was taking notes during the call and when I asked for her name she giggled almost as if there would be no consequence for her poor service. I have worked in customer service for several years and though the customer is not ALWAYS right, I believe that their needs should be heard and respected. That was not the case when I spoke with Nicole today. When I asked to speak with her supervisor, she nonchalantly said "well, he's just gonna tell you the same thing". I am not fond of writing poor reviews but it is important for others to know in the event they have to contact her for any reason. I recommend speaking with someone else or her supervisor. She is not helpful or interested in "member solutions" at all.

Open 10 to 2 on Saturday and they now offer bicycle loans. New ATM was recently installed and is covered and protected from the elements. Like BECU and other financial institutions, you can get receipt images of your deposited checks and you don't need an envelope. If you come in, pick up the free chapstick.

Verity says they are a sister branch to BECU. But they are not very sister like. They charge $.25 for every roll of quarters,so it costs me extra money to do my laundry. Suddenly they won't accept checks made out in my special needs son's that I receive monthly for his care. I have been cashing them there for years now suddenly it's a problem. They are conviently located to my home, now I have to go way out of my way. Not nice guys.

I go out of my way to come to this branch over the others. The employees are always helpful, and kind. I would have never imagined that I would enjoy banking(credit union-ing?), but I am always pleased when I get a chance to go in. Happy to be a member!

I was a victim of fraud, & I was told by the police department that Verity was covered by FDIC, the bank manager then stated that Verity wanted my money too.
