USF Federal Credit Union Reviews

Sandra Law5I have been a customer of this credit union for over 25 years and I must say that I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. I was a customer of the school credit (no name mentioned) and kept receiving someone with the exact same name as mine (she was on her honeymoon). I received her VISA card, MasterCard and statements from them. I sent it back and they kept coming so I walked inside and handed it to them and asked to close my account and started with this credit union. Keep up the great job that you guys are doing because I'm a member until death do us part:)
Response from the ownerSandra - Thank you for being such a loyal member! We'll continue to always be here whenever you need us.

Cat C5I'm not sure why other people are so upset with this location. Every time I've gone in I've received timely service, a friendly teller, and calling in to customer service has been nothing short of pleasant. I'm SO much happier banking here than I was with a larger bank that we got rid of to move to USF. I originally had a car loan through USF and after the pleasant experience I had with the loan and several bad experiences with my other bank, my husband and I decided it was time for a change. We are both very happy with the service we've received thus far. I only hope it continues on this way! Update 6/6/17: Service is still going strong. Every time I have a a question or a problem, someone resolves it in a timely manner with a smile. Please do not hesitate to use USFFCU. They are so nice and willing to help!

Maria Gamarra1Today USF FCU showed how poorly they do business. I have 3 auto loans, 3 deposit accounts and one credit card with them and today it meant nothing. I needed to do a cash advance but i did not have my DL with me. I requested to be authenticated a different way but they refused. I showed other forms of id including my debit card which has a pin number but they were worthless for them just like my relationship with them. I requested to speak with a manager (they had two) but there was a 45 min wait time. It is very upsetting that i can do an auto loans via email but i am not able to withdraw funds because i dont have a DL. My husband had to come from Brandon to the Tampa location with our 5 month old baby just to bring me my DL. I work at a bank as well and i know that exceptions can be made. If an employee truly wants to help he/she will find a way. Today i felt like i was nobody to them.

Jimmy Kennedy1Do NOT get a loan from here. I got a car loan from here, paid it off, got a personal loan, and they tied my car title to the loan. I had to pay off the personal loan before I got my car title. No one told me they would do this. Customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced in my life. The supervisor yelled and threatened me. I won’t ever use them again. Please stay away from this unprofessional, heartless, greedy institution. To your response-Chip did absolutely zero to help by responding “Too bad, I make the rules and you’ll only deal with me” with yelling and threats towards me. Don’t say you tried when you got lawyers involved during the pandemic. You and your company are a disgrace and should be ashamed. If you do say something personal on here I promise you there will be a lawsuit. Try me.
Response from the ownerHi Jimmy - Thanks for taking the time to share this with us. We take pride in the service we provide our members and always do our best to assist them during times of economic difficulty. After speaking with you on numerous occasions using multiple channels (phone, email, social media, etc) we can confidently say we have done absolutely everything in our power to assist you. To respect your privacy, we will not discuss details regarding your situation in a public forum such as this. Thank you.

Somdutta Majumder1I understand the severity of current situation and security concerns, but how can a bank located on a University campus deny student members emergency service just because they don't have a vehicle??? Is it right to expect every student to own a vehicle or book an uber/lyft just to go through the drive through to make an emergency transaction?? Should't there be services dedicated to help members on foot? The demeaning comments from the workers and their rude behaviors really left me with a question that if this bank is not easily accessible by students, what is the reason for anybody to use it otherwise?
Response from the ownerWe are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you as we are working to adapt to both serving our members while also protecting our employees. We are unable to allow members to walk through our drive-thru due to the risk of cars being present. However, at this time we are allowing members to call us and set an appointment to come into the branch. We plan to open our lobbies to walk-in visits in the near future and will be sending out communication when we do so. Thank you for your understanding and for being a member of our credit union.

Meli Marte2If I can give 0 stars I would, today I spent approximately 2 hours trying to make a payment over the phone. I kept being transferred between card and member services. One representative had kids yelling in the background. Another representative transferred me to the wrong federal credit union. Correction: Howard (representative) made sure to call back and check if everything went ok with my transaction.
Response from the ownerHi Meli - Thank you for taking the time to share this with us, and we apologize for any inconvenience. We're glad to hear that Howard was able to resolve everything for you. If there's anything else you need, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for being a member of USF FCU.

zohre nemati5The staff are quite helpful but sometimes they do not know enough to help you. It is a good bank for students because students can open a saving account with only $5. Students do not have to pay any annul fee. Also, students can get a secure credit card here. Which means they can deposit $500 and get a $500 credit card. After 6 months they can remove the deposit so it is a good start for those who don't have any credit history to build it.
Response from the ownerThanks for being a member Zohre!

tyronza crusaw1I've been a member since June 2009 and I am now looking to close my account with them. They started withdrawing $5/mo. if you do not have a credit card with them or keep $300 in your account at all times. I actually loved banking with them and hate to go, but this is ridiculous especially during a pandemic.
Response from the ownerHi - Thanks for reaching out. Accounts owned by members over the age of 24 with total aggregate monthly balances of less than $300.00 are assessed a monthly fee. The presence of any loan product will also waive this fee. We’re your credit union, and we want to provide value to all of our members in the form of lower fees, better deposit returns and lower loan rates. To do this, we need participation from all of our members. Please give us a call at (813) 569-2000 and we'd be happy to share with you some ways that you can increase your participation with the credit union and easily avoid this fee. Thank you for being a member of USF FCU.

Jeff Caldwell1If I could leave a zero star, I would. If you’re thinking about opening a loan with this bank, RUN. Old and antiquated technology, terrible customer service, confusing payment schedules etc. I can only see the last 90 days of transactions on the the website, had to call today to get a full transaction list sent to me BY MAIL. What is this 1981? This is the second time I’ve felt cheated, and this time I am 100% positive they’re scamming me. My account was a car loan- 48 months and today was the last payment, when I called they said my balance is $510. It’s impossible. They count on you not keeping track and any other dummy would just pay it even though it is without a doubt an error on they’re part. DO NOT use this bank, they’re dishonest and behind the times so you can’t even verify their errors. Dangerous combination. Run!
Response from the ownerHi Jeff - Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. I understand and apologize for the frustration, but I assure you that we are not "scamming" you, nor any of our members. We'd be happy to discuss your loan with you. You can reach us at 813.569.2000. Thanks for being a valued member.

Christopher Marsh1I have been with this credit union for 8 years. Had issues every now and then but for the most part they were okay. This new online system and phone system make the credit union absolute garbage. Took 5 tries to get through on the phones because the automated system kept freezing, the online banking system was fine and they ruined it for no reason.
Response from the ownerChristopher - Thanks for sharing your feedback with us and please accept our apologies for the inconveniences. Our phone system is operable and if you'd like, we'd be happy to give you a call. Just send an email to [email protected] and let us know a time that is convenient for you. Known issues that we are working to resolve with digital banking can be found on our website at https://www.usffcu.com/digitalbanking/updates#tabbar. If you are experiencing additional issues, we would be happy to assist when we speak on the phone. Thank you for being a member of our credit union.
