Kevin Davis1I have a mortgage with UFCU and they have basically made themselves impossible to speak with. If you file a customer support request online, they say that it will take 10 days to get back to you for just the first response. If you ever call...there is no anticipated wait time. I've spent multiple hours waiting only to be told that I'm not 70th in the queue. It's clear that UFCU does not invest in proper customer service technology and this portion of its business is not a priority. I do not recommend working with UFCU.
Response from the ownerHello Kevin. We appreciate your review and are saddened to hear of your experience. We believe in providing our members with high-quality, caring service at UFCU. However, it is clear that we missed several opportunities to communicate with you effectively, and it's shaken the faith and trust you have placed in us. We truly apologize. Your membership is important to us, and we want someone from our mortgage service team to reach out to you, but we need your contact information. If inclined, can you please send your full name, phone number, and email to [email protected]? We hope you allow us the chance to restore your confidence in us and look forward to connecting with you soon. Again, we appreciate your membership, and have a great day.

Lou Aguiar2Enjoyed banking with them from 2012-2018, but as all the other negative reviews point out — their customer service just isn’t what it used to be. You’ll get better rates, service/branch accessibility, and receive better treatment overall at Bank of America or Chase. UFCU has gotten bigger and more mainstream over the years and isn’t much of a credit union that cares about its customers and is above the “big banks” anymore. I just closed my account 9years later after fighting tooth and nail to get not one but only 4 of 7+ $35 overdraft fees refunded across 7+ different transactions (including for one purchase of .99!) all because they took 6+ Days to process my paycheck during the 4th of July weekend and ALL THIS after I had already been through this with them before years ago and completed paperwork DECLINING their little $35 overdraft “service “ Any other time I’ve needed help or simply asked for overdraft fees refunds (not many over the past decade) they’ve been so kind and understanding and literally would just give me my money back — no questions asked. It was honestly refreshing. Their loan rates and protections policies were really great but apparently now even during a pandemic they could care less about you
Response from the ownerHello Lou, we thank you for taking the time to review us and convey your feedback. From your comments, it seems you've had a variety of positive and negative experiences throughout your membership with us. Since our inception, our mission has been to provide caring and excellent service to our members. Clearly, we missed the opportunity to treat you with the level of care and understanding that you expect of us, and we expect of ourselves, and we sincerely apologize. We are constantly working to deliver a consistent service experience to our membership and hope you give us another chance. We respect and understand your decision to close your account; however, we will be here if you decide to return. Again, thank you for the tenure of your previous membership, and please enjoy the rest of your day.

Dirk VP4They moved across the street which was confusing. Now there are only account associates instead of associates and bank tellers which really slows things down unless you are doing a deposit. The tellers have been replaced by machines. 5 people in front of me when I arrived but moving fairly fast. Nicer place than the last. Wish they still had at least one bank teller though.
Response from the ownerHello Dirk, Thank you for your sincere feedback. We moved to our new Downtown location back in August and have made some improvements by enhancing our location to an Interactive Financial Center (IFC). An IFC is a more modern approach to the banking experience with financial kiosks that allow for quick, convenient access to the teller-like services requested most often. We want to make sure you are aware that we do, in fact, have staff at our Downtown location. Our Personal Financial Representatives are available to assist you with all your banking needs. Thank you for your membership and we look forward to continuing to serve you.

Aria McDonald Valdez1Don’t use the ATM here to make cash deposits, it’ll likely shut down and UFCU will never get you your credit back into your account. I love UFCU and have never had an issue with them in the years I’ve banked with them but this ATM is screwy so I wouldn’t trust it.
Response from the ownerThank you for your review of our Downtown ATM Aria. We are sorry to hear this machine has provided you with so much trouble. We have provided a credit to your account while we look into your deposit malfunction. A member of our leadership team will be reaching out to you to address your concerns. Thank you for your Membership!

Anonymous User1The bank teller/customer service representative yelled my account balance out in front of all of the other UFCU customers in an attempt to shame me for my low checking account balance. She stopped short of questioning why my balance was so low which is none of her business or anyone else's in the bank lobby. The the bank manager viciously mocked me and then sarcastically joked about how I had just made an investment with another customer sitting at her desk, followed by laughter as I was walking out of the door. Neither the bank employee or manager answered why there have been repeated, unauthorized logins to my bank account even after having scanned my computer for malware with Windows Defender, Malwarebytes Anti-malware, and changed the password for my UFCU bank account. I will use UFCU as a way to conveniently deposit rent and utilities into my landlords bank account, hold less money with UFCU than the loose change in my coffee mug on my desk, and enjoy the 110% ROI that I've made day trading in the passed four months after I change banks.
Response from the ownerHello, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. At UFCU we take pride in our customer service and would like the opportunity to speak with you regarding this matter. If you could please give us a call at (512) 467-8080 or email us at [email protected], we would greatly appreciate it.

Ashlee Etheridge1So I came in 2 weeks ago on a Friday . I had walked from lavaca & 4th In this crazy heat . All I wanted to do was see about my options to open a serperate savings account to put aside money I couldn't touch& get a new chip card. I've had ufcu since 2012. And never had issues until this day. An employee named Herndez I believe treated me like I had stole someone's debit card or something. Asking me my social and other odd questions even tho I had my Id and card and I know for a fact I'm in their system . I'm normally greeted walking in. But again this was not my usual location. I felt profiled and judged to say the least. I'm sure I looked a mess from walking all that way in the heat or whatever . He didn't make any actions on my account nor helped me view my options. I just landed a job at Apple and was really wanting to looking into building a better savings but he clearly took me as a criminal to something. But it took me a while to get around to write this review, I wanted to call in several times or even show up and ask him face to face why he treated me so bad when I've been with ufcu faithfully for years. I'm finding a new credit union solely on this treatment
Response from the ownerHi Ashlee, We are sorry to hear your experience wasn’t positive. We view member feedback as an opportunity to improve the service provided to our membership. If you would like to direct message your contact information to [email protected], we will be happy to reach out to you to address any concerns you may have.

David “Daud” Tashnick1What a joke of a branch this place claims to be. They don't even accept deposits here. Go ahead and drive several miles to north Austin if you want to do actual banking.
Response from the ownerHello David. Thank you for reviewing and informing us about your experience at our Downtown Financial Center. It is clear from your comments there were difficulties completing your deposit at the Downtown location, and we are sorry that we let you down. At UFCU, we pride ourselves on making banking convenient while providing outstanding service to our members and community. We are committed to doing better and will have someone from our team follow up with you. We appreciate your membership and look forward to seeing you soon.

Patrick R1I used ufcu for an auto loan with Andre b/v now when I’m trying to pay online they are preventing me from adding an existing checking acct to make payment, it appears to be an attempt to force me to use a new ufcu acct, they will not call me back and told me to fax form In for ach which is not what my email asked for
Response from the ownerHi Patrick, We are glad we were able to help you set up your other financial institution account for ACH to your savings account here at UFCU. Please feel free to contact us if you encounter any issues. Thank you for your membership!
