Truist Reviews

Casey and Sarah Harris1I have been banking with SunTrust (now Truist) for nearly 2 years. I own a small business and routinely deposit checks ranging from $500 to thousands of dollars. I’ve never deposited a check that was returned for any reason. I deposited a check on Friday, December 10, 2021 in the amount of $1500. This was a personal check drawn from a local Regions bank. I immediately received an email detailing the hold information. They said they would make $225 available on Saturday, 12/11 and the remaining $1275 on Tuesday, 12/14. On Saturday there was no deposit of $225 available so I called the 800 number. I was advised that there was a wait time of 25 minutes to speak with a representative. I waited an hour and 37 minutes before my call was answered. The representative had no record of an email being sent to me that stated when I would have access to my money. In fact, she had an entirely different date for the hold to be released. She told me I wouldn’t have access to any of the money until 12/21/2021!! I called the client who wrote the check to find out if it had cleared his account. He was able to show me proof that the funds had already been collected by my bank. I went to the local branch on Tuesday, 12/14/2021 and sat down with the branch manager, John Quinn. After a quick look at my account history he agreed that there was no reason for the check to have been held in the first place and also said that had I been a BB&T customer he would have been able to remove the hold immediately. He said he had no ability to help me at SunTrust. He communicated with management members at state level through a messaging app on his computer. He provided them with the email I received along with the proof that the check had cleared. He basically apologized and said that he had done all he could and unfortunately I would have to wait an additional 7 days to access the money that the bank had already collected. How is this even possible in 2021? The technology companies have these days makes this even harder for me to understand. How are they unable to contact the hold department and have them verify that funds were collected? I will never deposit a check with Truist again. This has been the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had with a bank. Absolutely unacceptable.

Neadom Tucker1So when Google says your open from 9 to 5 then you are expected to be open from 9-5. If you need to close for a lunch break then update Google please. I drove 15 minutes to go here.

Mark Timms Travelogue1Worst bank ever. I deposit a check from my Wells Fargo abusiness account into the Suntrust account. It shows available the next day. Then, magically they put a hold on it and expect me to be responsible for nsf fees. Insanity. The check cleared my bank the next day. This is a SCAM! These folks care nothing at all about cystomer relations.

Cyndee Ro1I opened an account online and figured I could go in to a local branch, make my initial deposit and get a temporary debit card. Just like how it works at other banks. Well SunTrust is literally the ONLY bank that doesn't issue debit cards at a branch. How inconvenient is that for their customers! So if you lose your card you're just screwed until the new one comes in the mail? Nowadays no one used cash, everything is done by card. They are absolutely useless. I was able to go to TD Bank, instantly open and fund a new checking account and receive a debit card. It's no wonder I never see anyone at SunTrust, and I for sure plan on letting people know not to waste their time or money. It's 2017, get with the times.
