  leased a jeep three years ago was told that tfcu would be the bank i paid monthly car sales man said i would have to open an account with a dollar to get lease started after about two years bank took the dollar because account wasnt used so now i have a zero balance does this bank really need my dollar i called up customer service and they refused to return the dollar i find this whole situation amusing just saying the statement i received shows a debit of ten dollars which wasnt in the account So if i were to put money in account i would lose my dollar plus an extra ten dollars Called customer service and there response "dont put more money in the accoun: AMAZING bank just took my last two dollars and fifty cents guess i dont have an account anymore lmao

  Most reliable bank, all year round I don't often feel compelled to write reviews, but I have been a 'member' of TFCU for 40 years. I have had accounts at multiple banks in that time, including a mortgage, business accounts, and family accounts. Without exception, the consistent application of rules, policies, and clear application of pricing and rates has been TFCU's hallmark. Their rates for all forms of loans, credit cards, and mortgage, have been the best available. Never a bait and switch. I have a good credit rating, and I am sure that helps me work with banks, but I find TDBank, WaMutual, and Astoria Federal, to be inconsistent, unfair, and even criminal in some of their operating. TFCU has the BEST on-line services of any of these banks, and I have used their on-line services since the minute they became available to use, as I no longer live on LI, but am over the bridge. I realize that this rating is being applied to the Merrick offices, and I don't go there all that often. I will say that some of the hours I have spent there have been frustrating as some of the actions I was making were new to the clerk working with me, but neither of us ever got so frustrated that the tone of our exchange changed. I have used multiple branches as I still have a home on LI, and while the knowledge base of some clerks is better and worse, the totality of the service is good - and perhaps it is also because I don't approach banking conversations in an oppositional way. Money makes people anxious, and TFCU has made some mistakes in my 40 years of transactions, but they have effectively and promptly resolved them. Finally, given how I have been treated at several other banks, and in comparison to the on-line services I have access to through these other banks, I will continue to choose TFCU for all of my banking choices. So, while they didn't get a five star rating, as I am a believer in always getting better, they surely deserve an articulate positive review amongst all of these that are negative - knowing that reviews are always either all good, or all bad, and never just they are consistent, fair, and a banking experience I trust.

  Horrible customer service. The manager is an animal does not know how to speak to customers at all. I called to add my name into the loan they told me to fax over the information what I needed done. I did it a month goes by no answer from anyone I called today asking them what’s going on and they had no clue what I was talking about that they never received any fax which is not true my fax machine stated it went threw so they got it fax prob threw it away. They then told me I was unable to do this to add my name. Now you tell me that after a month of running around waiting I asked to speak with the manager and she was rude cursed at me screaming to let her only speak. I told her that the office worker told me a month ago to do this now you telling me something different there no help. Horrible service horrible people!!!

  This company is so crazy my hubby on the phone with Chris verifying his info. And authorizing me to inquire on the car not and he gave us he'll. To I provided the account number and answered all the rep question then she's like oh there is a note I can't give u any more information omg worse customer service It's like u r asking them for money over the phone instead of paying them They are all absolutely obnoxious!!!

  Hands down, the best Credit Union on Long Island. The rates are great and they will lend you what you need. Love this place!

  The rules of a credit union will drive you crazy. They hold your money hostage. Plus their people are too lazy to understand the rules. Stay away.

  I called to speak to a loan officer "Ryan" at the Merrick branch and he was extremely rude. He hung up the phone on me and didn't have the courtesy to return my call.

  Just closed a loan with this institution. The application and approval process and after closing support are bleeeccchh! One of the worst I've seen.
