Tarrant County's Credit Union Reviews

Mars G311/29/2020... My August 2020 experience with Tarrant County Credit Union's Lake Worth Location I looked at an auto refinance with this location. My advice is, before you start the application, know the steps in the process, any unfamiliar step(s), as well as what happens if you need more time. Yes, they are professional with me, even as my deal fell to pieces and I no longer felt nice in their company, they were professionals. Nice would have been helping me navigate in their world. I got misinformation, had no help, suffered frustration and embarrassment in conversations that made me look foolish because I didn't know. Thing is, no one there was telling me either. That part where the term I was offered to get to those very nice numbers that impressed me in the conversation in the first place aren't typically offered and have to be approved. How could I research to find that out? Maybe, hopefully, there are things to learn here to improve on TCCUs best. I had an 800+ credit score so was offered a slightly better rate than my already great credit got me on this car when it was new 2 years earlier. When I needed more time to evaluate what to do about the last year of my 3 year warranty with the dealership vs the 4 year warranty the credit union offered (learn how to compare warranties first also), this credit union ran my credit again without my knowledge! Then, they denied it saying the original report got lost so they had to run it again. I think my Representative didn't know the Credit Union ran your credit every 30 days when in the midst of the application process so she made up something. She didn't look so smart, and not so customer-friendly either, but I lost points off my score! I needed those points because I decided to buy new instead of refinance. Then, I was frustrated again because the Credit Union said they reversed the credit history request twice. Either it took over a month to show that my score went up again or the third time I was told the score request reversal had been submitted, it actually got submitted then because my score went up right away. 12/14/20 I spent parts of my weekdays off work for 5 or 6 weeks visiting there to save money with the better rate offered. I did the numbers with my initial contact on day one and confirmed that the rate and term were going to save me nicely. As I prepared to do the deal, I suffered frustration when I found out the initial rate offereing had a term that wasn't usually offered and that term needed approval. Well, it didn't get approved. I had no help from you folks to get the refi figured out so I asked for more help. Upon spending more time in calls and emails, I bought a new car. My bills went up, not down. With that deal, I believed you guys had fixed my credit back as asked. At the time of purchase, points were still missing, so I checked only to find out you hadn't done as I requested and you agreed. I suffered frustration again when I didn't get the rate I deserved on the new purchase. I had to ask TCCU to fix my report again. Haggling with the dealer didn't change the points missing from my score. Now, it seems your credit check reversal only went to one reporting agancy because my financial institutions still show the same number of inquiries. Would contacting you fix any of this? Clearly, I should have done a deeper dive to understand all of the nuts and bolts of a refi and about TCCUs refi policies, but I only did a surface check based on rate and term numbers, and didn't get anything of that in writing. My initial said I get that when I do the paperwork. All of this really is my fault. I got involved in something l knew nothing about. I guess I'll be asking for roadmaps and everything in writing from companies going forward because I'm a sitting duck. I didn't know what I didn't know, or what to do when what I thought would be great for me got off track. I'll lease my next cars. I'll have to start learning that, now, ahead of time to protect myself from what may be dozens of unknowns.
