A pathetic excuse for a credit union. No Saturday hours and the ABQ branch closes at 5 PM every weekday. Phone system is out 50% of the time, so no way to contact them. They don't use Venmo or Zelle. Go elsewhere!!!

      Response from the owner

Hi Mark, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are not aware of an outage with our phone system can you share what number you called, the time, and the specific message you received telling you that the phone system is out? This will help us troubleshoot it so we can better serve our members. Regarding our branch hours, you are correct that we do not have Saturday hours at our Albuquerque branch, however we do offer a variety of convenient options for our members including online banking and bill pay, a mobile app which allows you to make deposits right from your phone, online loan applications, and more. You can learn about these services on our website at https://www.secunm.org/services/access-services. We also have a P2P payment system similar to venmo called PopMoney. You can find information about Pop Money at https://www.secunm.org/services/access-services/online-banking-bill-pay.html. Of course we are also always happy to see our members in person during business hours, and to make it more convenient for our members with busy schedules, you can schedule a meeting to make your visit as fast and efficient as possible. https://www.secunm.org/contact/contact-us/schedule-a-meeting.html We thank you again for bringing your concern about the phone lines to our attention and will work to identify any issues and remedy them as soon as possible. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and thank you for being a member.

Tina is great very helpful very responsive, always has great positive attitude even when I go in there and the line is long I’d let people go ahead of me because I would rather work with her instead. Definitely needs a raise

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the positive review Abdulelah! Tina really is fantastic and we are lucky to have her on our team!

Big deposit and just saw I was charged $25 Uncollected Fund Fee, some twice in the same day. $25 Uncollected Fund Fee? Never ever have I heard of this. They put the 10 day business hold on it and then charged me for it. I'm taking my car and refinancing it elsewhere. They've lost me as a customer. I've been banking there years, have 2 car loans there, paid off 2 other cars with them but an Uncollected Fund Fee is ridiculous and a ripoff.

Fantastic bank with outstanding help. I’ve been with them for over 3 years and never a problem. I have a checking account and savings account and even took out a signature loan to help build my credit. Yvette G. is the best. Their debit card works all across the country. The only requirement is to keep a $50 balance and you will never incur any monthly service fees. The bank is also local so it helps out our state.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the positive review, Terry -- we are proud to be part of this community and support New Mexico. We appreciate our members!

Friendly staff! If using the drive through, be prepared to wait 20-50 minutes for a simple transaction. Add another 15-30 minutes per vehicle in front of you. The staff, though friendly, have absolutely ZERO care for anybody else's time. I've been with this bank for over 4 years and have never spent less than 20 minutes in the drive through, even when no other vehicles were present.

      Response from the owner

Hi Niko, thank you for your feedback! We appreciate your patience, particularly since drive-thru traffic has increased due to COVID. Also if you haven't yet done so, please check out our online banking and mobile app. These services allow you to take care of many banking transactions from the comfort of your home-with zero wait! https://www.secunm.org/services/access-services/mobile-banking.html And of course, thank you for being a member!

I just tried to get a new card as mine will be expired and about 2 months. I found out that they would charge me for the card, which is baffling as I've been a member for years and it's ridiculous that just because I'm trying to get my card a little early they want to charge me for it. On top of that, they laughed at me as I walked away. Real professional, ladies. Real professional. If that's the sort of behavior coming from the women with the desks instead of just the tellers, I can imagine that they're pretty secure in their jobs and that's why they had confidence audibly laughing at a member as they walked out of the building. Disgusting for a credit union, and I'm heavily considering closing my account all together

      Response from the owner

Hi Rachael, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear you had a negative experience at one of our branches. We will send out replacement cards free of charge when they expire, typically a couple of weeks before your old card expires. For any other optional replacement (not a lost or stolen card) we do charge a fee of $10.00. But the card charges aside, we of course consider it completely unacceptable to disrespect our members at any time. We hope that this was an isolated incident and that we can earn your confidence in all future interactions with us. We appreciate you being a member and hope to continue to do business with you!

Very happy with State employees Credit Union. We have financed all our vehicles with them. They have incredible rates and incentives. We use the Rio Rancho location which is most convenient for us. Maritza Dominguez is super helpful and made each process very easy.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the positive review, Joy, we are very pleased to hear you had a good experience with us!

I was hesitant to join a credit union due to past bad experiences but State ECU has been a great resource for my family. Maritza has helped us through buying cars, weddings, and houses, and State ECU always offers great deals and the best rates. I even earn interest on my checking account. Thanks a ton!

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the positive review, Jennifer, we're so glad that you've had a good experience with us! It's our goal to serve our communities and it's great to hear when we've succeeded. Thank you for being part of State ECU!

I love using this credit union. I was able to get in with a family member who was in public education. I believe they’ve since gone public. But they have the best rates. We were able to use a secured loan to get out of debt. Literally the best decision we’ve ever made! Their checking rewards are the best around 2% is so unheard of and it’s been this way for YEARS. Anytime I tell people my banking rates they say “Wow” most other banks are doing well at 0.05% or less. I would only deducted 1 star because it’s not the most user friendly online services, but I think they deserve all the stars. I also would love to see them add a monthly/yearly comparison graph for an idea on where money comes and goes. It really helps my family to budget when everything is all written out and recorded online at your own personal bank account

      Response from the owner

Thank you for your positive review! You are correct that our membership is open to anyone living and working in several New Mexico counties -- lots of people can benefit from our great rates! (Membership qualifications listed at https://www.secunm.org/about/membership/become-a-member.html ). Also we'be been working to improve our online experience, and hope that it is more user-friendly now. Thank you so much for the feedback, and thank you for being a member!
