This place used to be great. They must now be using contractors for their phone services. One week ago I received a scam email that said $439 was being taken from my account. I immediately called the credit union. Whoever answered the phone could only take a message and said someone would get back to me in 24 hours (not acceptable). Someone called two days later and said she could not help me because I couldn’t remember my password. A full week later I got a voice mail from the credit union saying to call back if my problem hadn’t been resolved. I finally spoke to someone who resolved the problem without even asking for my password. A potential hack is a serious matter. The credit union was efficient and dependable in the past. What went wrong?

Absolutely terrible credit union. Their fees are outrageous. You are better off banking with a for-profit bank. Honestly - save yourself the trouble. They drained my savings account with $10 inactivity fees. Isn't the point of a savings account is to save and not spend. Also, they only exchange basic currency and not at good rates. I was lied to when I set up my account; they explicitly told me that they exchange all major global currency. Terrible credit union.

If you love having more money taken from your own pocket that your supposed to trust snakes with then this is a bank for you! If you love paying 14.95 on top of your payment for running your debit card this is the place for you! Place is absolute joke. When they withdraw funds from your primary account to repay a loan or other things it may take 2 days or 2 months! Then they blame there system everytime. Worse bank in the DVM area absolutely horrific customer service but 1 manager I dealt with was decent. There automatic telephone system is absolutely horrible along with their app and website is extremely difficult to navigate. Never again will I deal with this credit union

By far and away the WORST 'banking institution' I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. No one, and I do mean NO ONE wants to do their job properly. They not only lost a $7,000.00 payment of mine, but then lost a $10,000.00 payment I made several months later! In addition to lost payments, payments THEY messed up..... they have a TERRIBLE turn over for payment processing..... how do you take over 2 weeks to process a payment???? I had to pay my payments a month in advance JUST to avoid late fees from them, due to their own process department!! I refinanced to get away from this company, and instead of mailing me the overpayment amount? They decide to open an account in my name!!! And deposit the money!!!! Now, I am demanding the account closed, and they are refusing to close it unless I come in, in person!!!! I have NEVER once stepped foot into one of these institutions, nor do I intend to! Horrid customer service, horrid account service, horrid all around. If this company hosts your loan? Refinance. The nightmares I've had to endure from this company are worth my paying a higher interest elsewhere JUST to be done with SDFCU!

Really has been terrible the last year. Not surprised by bad reviews. After the Pandemic hit, customer service has hit an all time low. Deposits are held in pending for a long time. This CU does very little for members. Have decided to use another CU where members tell me of superior customer service.

When I opened account with SDFCU online they said it will take 3-5 business days to open the account. However, I never heard back from them over a week. I had to call numerous times before they confirm that account was open. Also they ran hard credit when I opened the account. Within same month I applied for a loan and they said they will run the credit again. Prior to open the account and applying for a loan I asked that question they said they will ran it once if its within 30 days. But I applied within 30 days and they ran it twice. The other horrible experience with the loan application process. Right after my loan application, they transfer my application to a 3rd party to credit union team to handle. They claim due to large volume of application they had to transfer the application to 3rd party. And the 3rd party service is a worst than SDFCU.. Never answer the call and provide incorrect information about the loan. When you try to obtain a loan you want your loan officer to be proactive and assist/educate you about the loan. They never response to your questions in timely manner and thus cause lose out a deal that you trying to make. If possible stay away and read other reviews here to justify.

Working with SDFCU has been the absolute worst banking/money management experience that I have ever had. For example, when my debit card was compromised, nobody from SDFCU reached out to let me know that they cancelled my card. I had to find out the hard way by being declined at the store. It then took 4 weeks to receive a new debit card. In that 4 weeks, I spoke to 17 different representatives and 4 different managers to understand why I was not alerted, why my account was frozen, when it would be unfrozen and when I would receive my new debit card. A full month just to get a debit card sent in the mail. When my debit card was frozen at First Bank, it took one phone call, 10 minutes and 2 days to receive my new debit card and have the problem resolved. My mother has been a member for over 30 years and they DO NOT respect customer loyalty whatsoever. Now, on payday, they have frozen my account and I cannot receive my payment from work. I have already spoken to three separate team members, with no answers and no help. They had me reset my password and told me it would now take 3 business days to for me to access my account. So, I have to wait about 5 days of real time to possibly get an answer and hopefully receive my payment. I have been receiving work payments every two weeks without issue until now. I would NEVER recommend SDFCU to anyone. Stay away unless you want to spend 20+ hours on the phone and speak with 20+ people to get a simple answer each time something comes up.

Worst credit union I ever done business with. Especially during COVID-19 with everyone losing their jobs on hard times. Do not trust them with your money ever. There is plenty other banks credit union out there that will treat you better.

Definitely the worst financial institution when it comes to disputes, charge backs and even account security. While I have waited 4 months + for my money to be returned, their security measures when you call cust service are ridiculous. You're asked for your card number, social security #, address and then for a password. I rarely use passwords and didnt know it. They couldnt help and I then was locked out of my account and as I am typing I am being sent in a round robbin bc no one wants to accept responsibility for why my money has yet to show up in my account! Idk who is worst at this point, Hertz for illegally charging my card or SDFCU! I will not be using this account for any transactions. Ridiculous!

This is the worst credit union to ever bank with. I applied for membership and they did a hard pull of my credit report which was shocking. The worst part was even after providing them copy of social security card they are saying it is not acceptable mode of identity verification. I would suggest save yourself headache and don't ever think about banking here. The staff are also rude.
