I am a 25 year member and 25 year former employee as of end of 2021. My Granddaughter is also a member needed a limit increase on her credit card. She applied for limit increase. Did not get an immediate response. She was then emailed to submit a full application. She kept getting error. She was told to contact our contact center. The first time she called. They told her someone would gave to call you back. No callback. We called again in evening, spoke to Luis, heard the do not put applications for limit increases. Before I could say anything he hung up. Called again long wait. Spoke to jazman, she to said cannot be done and refused to take application, after leaving us on hold for a long time. I know They are not suppose to refuse loan applications. Something needs to be done to these employees that don't know there job . Thanks to Metcha, we were finally able to get application, she got right on it.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the review, Terrie. Glad we were able to take care of the limit increase!

This 1 star review is long overdue. Ive been banking here for about 7 years because my job. For this reason I will continue with this bank but I cringe every time I have to go in the bank. Every trip is the same experience. Rude and unhelpful staff. They seem like they are trained to make the customer feel uncomfortable. If you have to take out a large amount of cash, they treat you like your doing something suspicious. They ask you personal questions, like what are you using this money for....one time the guy went and got his manager to come question me when I was taking rent out. I always leave upset and feeling like their demeanor isn’t right. They should not be getting away with how they treat people here

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the review Janae, and for speaking with our Director. We are very sorry that our questioning, which is intended to protect members from fraud, was not delivered in a more sensitive manner. We value your membership and will use this feedback to improve.

If you have an account, consider moving your funds to another bank. The culture has changed at SFCU. Some of the people at the lending department are a joke. They pretend they cannot hear you on the phone, or they do not answer your questions. They are mostly biased and predetermine the outcome of an application. That would be two people who answered the phone + Ron Tedesco, the director or manager of that department. They even blatantly lie about information and repeat the same assertions in a combination of different words to make them sound like new statements. That would be Jennifer Wisnewski. They are fundamentally lychees, who profit from interests when they think they can draw more from you. However, your good standing means nothing to them. BTW, I am still waiting to hear back from the VP. She had told one of the managers that she wanted to hear directly from the customer about what had happened. But, of course, she still has not called me. Despicable and fake care...

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the review, Rita. We’re sorry we were unable to assist you with this specific request.

Been with this credit union 3 years, Not one promotion offer! Not one member Appreciation! Not one phone call of thank you or very good job on your high success improving your credit and your Consistent employment status! They say best interest rates...? Maybe for the alumni members Everything I have accomplished and acquired were all through other banking institutions but I bank with Stanford Credit Union? So I’m lost for words on this issue to only realize that There’s no reason to bank here and to have an account open with this terrible facility No longer.... But thank you to all the big banks they try to persuade you to stay away from because of the opportunity they offer, but those are the people who have given me opportunities to have all of what I have now......wow I look forward to asking every coworker, supervisor, manager Even the people I don’t know if they bank with his credit union! So good luck on your home purchase is your personal loans your credit card limit increase or the tricky refinancing of your vehicle. good luck maybe it might work for some but definitely not me Homeowners aren’t offered credit line increase because they pay the mortgage and work almost paycheck to paycheck like everybody else in the world

Do not use this bank!!! This is by far the worst bank I've ever dealt with. You cannot trust SFCU to do any business, including a very simple wire transfer. I don't mind rude reps or bad tech, but if you cannot rely on a bank to keep their schedule for days, that is a huge red flag for a financial institution.

      Response from the owner

Jae min, we are so incredibly sorry for your experience with us. Wire transfers are frequently used by scammers to steal money, so we take extra steps to protect our members. We certainly should have been more clear in our communications, and much more timely in responding to you and sending your wire. We will use your feedback to review our processes and train staff.

Long story short the loan representative that I spoke with was the most rude individual I have ever experienced. Not only did he treat me as if I was the most idiotic person alive applying for a loan, he bluntly ended the conversation abruptly with no regards to any questions or concerns I might have had just hung up. Very disappointed and makes me question if this is still the right bank to bank with.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for your review, Genaro. We sincerely apologize for your experience. This is certainly not in line with our desire to put members first. One of our Directors reached out to you and we thank you for taking the time to speak with her.

Since join this bank, we have nothing but trouble, very unclear on the website of fund transaction history, etc... pending transaction sometimes shows up, but usually doesn't show up, and left you wonder "didn't I click the submit button?" customer services has no knowledge of anything, there is one employee named Angel never can give you any answer, every time we have to escalated to management to get a very simple thing to resolved, that of course after days and numerous phone calls. We want to help local business instead of the big bank, but this is exhausting, and doesn't work anymore.

Don’t waste your time. Nothing but flakes in the HR department...constantly wasting your time, consistently late to all meetings and interviews. You wouldn’t believe the comments I just heard from Isabel Quinn, a Senior HR recruiter. More or less stating that institutionalized corporate behavior (slow response time, no response) is the norm...Stringing people along, lying to applicants.
