  I worked with Richard and Evan in the Raleigh area. I cannot say enough about how amazing the service was. Both individuals worked extremely hard, communicated thoroughly, walked me through every step and kept a helpful and pleasant demeanor throughout the entire process. It was a difficult file to close and required a lot of patience, from all parties involved, and they were amazing every step of the way. I am truly grateful!

  I turned to this team after starting the mortgage process with another company and walking away because it was so stressful. They put me at ease from the very beginning and even my closing attorney and real estate agent commented on the great communication from Southern Trust. Will definitely go to them first next time!

  Jean and her team where wonderful to work with. Everyone was very responsive to my questions, knowledgeable about refinancing and personable and patient as they guided me through a first time experience of refinancing my second home. They made the process easy to understand and to follow by providing clear directions on what documentation would be needed and by when. Their secure online portal was easy to navigate with document submissions. I couldn't be happier with my experience working with Jean and her team. Through their guidance I was able to lower my interest rate and monthly payment, include property taxes and insurance in escrow, and transition to more comprehensive insurace coverage at lower rate. I highy recommend Jean Hedges and her outstanding team at Southern Trust Mortgage.

  My wife and I are working with the Raleigh location and are having a horrendous experience. We're also not typically people to complain as we're usually laid back and go with the flow But in this case, if we weren't 1 week away from closing and there weren't fees involved, we would pull out and go to a different company. Honestly, it's so bad we've thought about paying the fees just so they don't get the commission from this. The lack of efficient and timely communication is ridiculous at this point. Both of us are in project management and my wife ended up having to project manage their team due to the lack of responses and information. When pointing this out and requesting improvement in this area, the rep tried to make us out as believe we were being "set up." In actually, he just can't explain where the numbers on their statements are coming from or what their actual process is, nor keep us updated. We emailed the branch manager to complain directly and request some assistance and she's been on copy of all emails. She's not responded to us either so I guess this is just an issue with the Raleigh branch. DO NOT work with them. There are plenty of other mortgage companies with a hell of a lot better customer service and communication. I'm sure they will comment on this to try to spin it but it is guaranteed false claims.

  Jean and her team at Southern Trust Mortgage were incredible during my recent refinancing process. I could not have asked for a better experience. Jean had helped me in the past a few times on a new mortgage loan and another refinancing, and just as before, she exceeded all my expectations again. For my recent refinancing with Jean and Team, things that stood out in my opinion: 1. Transparency around the rates and other fees 2. Very quick to respond to all my queries, even for when I had emails them afterhours. 3. Closed the loan within the promised timeframe which is impressive considering the recent high demand for mortgages, refinancings and disruptions from the pandemic 4. Provided updates throughout the entire process 5. I got the best refinance rate I could find anywhere at the time with no points 6. Their all around professionalism It was a pleasure dealing with them and I look forward to working with them again on all my future mortgage related needs. I highly recommend this team!
