  My wife, daughter, and I stopped into Schumacher Homes of Wilmington to take a look at a home model we were considering. Jackie Alphin went above and beyond for us during our visit. She was patient, answered every question we had, and provided us with an exceptional overall experience. Her detailed knowledge of the homes and the building process was astounding and we are so grateful that we had the privilege of meeting her. While we are still making decisions about our home builder, our experience with Jackie was wonderful and left a great impression about what Schumacher can deliver.

  Check out the model homes off highway 17 especially at night they look so good driving by. Their team was great & very professional when talking to them.

  Recommended Schumacher to a friend. So sorry...she has had nothing but trouble...from lot prep, grading, framing & everything in between to closing 6 month ago & it has been a nightmare trying to have items completed. Windows on front of house off center, framing not plumb, plumbing not per plan & had to rip out drywall, relocated heat pump not to spec & drilled hole thru kitchen cabinet due to suspected wall fire. Porch screen frames total redo now screening cannot be repaired without removing major trim work. No dishwasher for 3 month due to electrical box meltdown, handrail to attic fell off, trim & crown molding not caulked & told have to wait for one year when they do nail pops & misc touchups. Tile in master shower was finally completed 3 months after closing, kitchen cabinets & pantry shelves took several month to finish. Major scratches on sliding glass doors to porch & patio. Sloppy painting interior/exterior. Too many other issues to list each one. All builds have issues, but the attention to detail by Schumacher & trades was totally missing & included a "we don't care" attitude!! All of the personnel from the Schumacher design center that started this build are no longer employed at this location. This speaks volumes & raises many questions about companies dedication to it's customers. Completing the remaining "to do list" will be like starting all over. Suggestions:. Don't use Schumacher to build your home or at best shop around, there are many fine builders in this area that do cater to the customer & pay better attention to detail. Remember it's your money.... Just a few pics showing attention to detail.

  Our experience is not due to Covid or lack of materials. Ours is lack of supervision on the tradesman. Framers removing board and batton 4x before they got it right. Windows installed to be removed and set higher. We are 149 days into construction and still not sure when this hse will be finished.

  Sherri is a gem! Highly recommend her as a sales coordinator to represent such a great company as Schumacher! Very interpersonal and attentive to our needs and providing truthful advice based off personal as well as professional experience. She did not shoo us off to look at the model home or the material by ourselves. Instead she gave a warm introduction, asked questions right off the back and gave a tour which was really welcoming. Will be continuing our custom home building experience with her and her team moving forward and would easily recommend her and Schumacher to anyone who is looking to build a home.

  I just wanted to say it’s been a real pleasure dealing with Schumacher Homes of Wilmington. Their management is top notch and their homes are absolutely gorgeous. It’s nice to see a custom home builder able to make a clients dream home come to fruition at a reasonable price. You always get more than what you pay for with Schumacher Homes. We are very fortunate to have them in our area!! If you are looking for a custom home built, Schumacher Homes should be your next call! There subcontractors are punctual. Skilled and informative and and it’s been a pleasure working with them all! I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

  Schumacher Homes is a wonderful home builder and Wilmington is fortunate to have had them expand into our area. They are responsive, polite, and want to make the home owner satisfied with their experience. I have had nothing but positive interactions with everyone on the team!

  **Update** The contract has been canceled. They wanted an extra $15,000 to drive the extra 21 miles. As if the whole ordeal wasn't difficult enough, they unwaiveringly stated it was my fault and would not refund my deposit until I signed a document saying so. !! VERY SHADY BUSINESS!! (Original Review) What started as a 5-star experience has quickly become frustration, heartbreak and uncertainty. One of the first questions we asked Rick when we stepped into his office was if they built homes in our area of Pamlico County. They did! Yay! But now... After 2 weeks, plan with upgrades chosen, papers signed, plats provided, deposits made, financing secured and waiting to stake the lot, I contact Rick with a question and he responds with "we do not build there."...What !!?!! He has asked his GM to contact Raleigh to see if they will take us on. But in speaking with the Raleigh office myself, they don't build there either. I'm hoping we can work something out, but as of right now, this has been a tough day for my whole family. My wife and kids are devastated (I am too). The Schumacher process really gets you involved, making a revelation like this that much worse. If we can get past this hurdle of a 15-20 minute longer drive for a construction crew, I will update this review with my experiences with Schumacher and chalk this snafu up to being a slight inconvenience.
