      I had insurance through Otis Brown Agency which was bought out by Salem Five for over 20 years. Once they were taken over by Salem Five and the senior partners/previous owners left the service level simply went to zero. While I may not have been their biggest customer, between my business, workmen's comp and personal home and auto insurance I spent over $8k with a firm that in the past 2 years added zero value and, to the contrary, caused me nothing but grief and money. Examples on the business side included incorrect workmen's comp insurance that I had to get involved with the underwriter directly to correct. A direct quote from the underwriter was "why isn't your insurance agent correcting this?" Most recently, I received incorrect formal communication from the agency that contradicted the information I was receiving from Safety insurance the underlying policy issuer. When I contacted them to correct the record I received no responses to my emails, when I engaged the Insurance company directly and they engaged with the agency, they still refused to correct their records. This is why I have canceled my personal insurance with them and will cancel my business insurance with them in the new year. Highly recommend to stay away from this agency, at a minimum, their Lexington branch.

      I took my Arbella auto insurance through Salem Five and let me tell you, this is the worst insurance you can ever get. I tried to cancel the insurance as I got another one but Salem Five and Arbella refused to do it and asked for Form 2A ( which in turn is not mandatory to cancel the insurance - Proof of new insurance is sufficient). In fact , Joshua ( Salem five representative) was so ridiculous that he told me to ask my new insurance company to send a cancellation form to the old insurance. The other representative who works in salem five insurance just hung up the phone when I told her that I have the new insurance ID and I would like to cancel this insurance. If there is any attorney, can you please respond as this needs to end and you can help me do it.

      We are sorry to hear about the issues you had canceling your insurance. Unfortunately in the state of MA, there are only two ways to cancel your insurance. Either cancel the plate or transfer carriers. In order to transfer carriers, you need a 2A form from the new agent. If you are still encountering difficulties, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

      Warning, long read but BE CAREFUL!!!! DO NOT WHATSOEVER do business with Salem Five Bank Insurance!!!!! Story Below: So, I signed up for an auto insurance policy through them back in July (**note, they dont actually write the policy, Vermont Mutual does**) because it made my life easier to have them just withdraw my payments right from my bank account. Went to the location, got myself all signed up, got to pick the date my payments came out, gave all my bank account information and was all set, out the door ready to go. Fast Forward to almost a month later, I had not seen anything come out of my account and wondered why. Suddenly, I get a bill from Vermont Mutual for over $400 out of NOWHERE!! I call Salem Five Insurance and spoke to someone and they informed me that the person that signed me up, did so incorrectly. I was NEVER supposed to be able to pick any date,only the 1st or 15th. Since he entered an invalid date, my policy reverted to a 20% down payment with 9 payments thereafter. I obviously was pissed but this guy literally said to me "there's nothing we can do about it now unless you pay the first 2 months now and then you wont see a bill til October 1st"...I was mad, upset and FUMING angry but eventually paid the payment, thats right...my $89 payment went up to almost $200 BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE. They did absolutely NOTHINGGGGGG whatsoever to make it right for me. After making the payment, 2 weeks go by and NOW, I get ANOTHER BILL from Vermont Mutual thats a CANCELLATION NOTICE of my policy for almost $300!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! I was assured and reassured that the payment I made would bring things back to normal and now here I am pending cancellation. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS, EVER! Banking, cool, fine, but STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THEIR INSURANCE!!!!! CONSIDER YOURSELVES WARNED!!!!!

      Our company has used Salem 5 for years, they handle all of our insurance needs and are absolutely fantastic to deal with! My questions and claims have always been handled quickly and the staff is great!

      Had business insurance with them, so my husband and I scaled down our business I guess we weren't enough money so they said they couldn't get us insurance. Which is fine we found a new insurance agent that I great he doesn't care about the size of your business. We still have personal insurance with them and it's like pulling teeth for them to get back to you. So I calls back to see what was going on forgot who I talked to so I told the receptionist this she gave me a couple of name I said I don't remember who. She puts me on hold then I start hearing her conversation with the lady I guess I spoke to earlier she's repeating what I said mocking me being rude I hear the other lady say hang up on her then the phone hangs up. Ok did I just hear what I thought I heard. Waited a couple of minutes give them the benefit of the doubt to call back nothing. I calls back to tell her she hung up on me she says no I got disconnected. And why didn't you call back. Well I am taking all my insurance out of there now. Because they are the worst insurance company around. I don't even know why they even have insurance agents they do nothing for you you need something they give you the insurance carriers number. Nice customer service. Is that how you treat your customers. Run the other way. No stars for me. I found someone that isn't rude. Everyone that works there is rude.

      We all know insurance companies are horrible but this one steals the cake, and I literally mean it they straight up rob you. I had my truck fully insured wilth them and the value on the truck was $9500. I paid $3000 for the truck. Someone hit my truck and totaled it, it as their fault 100 percent and when I tried to collect the money from them they didn't want to give me the value of my truck. They wanted to give me less than what I paid for it. I told them they were crazy for even bringing the to the table and told them to fix my truck and when i did they hung up on me. I got the truck because of the value of it. If i wanted to sell it I would of made a profit with no problem, hence why I bought it in the first place. I had to call the other guys insurance company and battle them on my own to get my $9000 for the truck and I was paying salem 5 for full coverage so I wouldn't have to do the wheeling and dealing. They took my money with no problem and when it came time to do their job they left me high and dry. I wouldn't recommend this insurance company to anyone if they are the last company on earth. I ended my policy right away and went to geico. Geico was 600 a year less than Salem 5 and when someone hit my new vehicle in a parking lot, again 100 percent not my fault they fixed my vehicle right away back to mint condition without any questions and hassling. Salem 5 was the biggest waste of money I've ever had to dish outin my life. Never again. Note would I ever recommend them. They were horrible.

      I don't understand what is going on with these complaints in the past few months i have called, i don't know maybe four times and ea and every time i got excellent service and i asked all kinds of questions and i Do NOT have anything worth a whole lot of money... I would say i was being a pest they emailed me forms and told me what to do... So all in all i was treated as if i were a millionaire... Thank you my agents at Salem five insurance....
