Let me preface my comments by saying I’ve never personally been in before. I’m sure it’s a nice, clean, and friendly environment, and they probably have good deals if you’re a buyer, but the experience I had when messaging this place about selling a factory sealed and unopened brand new PS4 Pro was beyond terrible and shady. First, I inquired about selling a brand new, factory sealed and unopened PS4 Pro that sells for $435 after tax everywhere, and they asked me how much I was looking to get, and I said $350, which is more than fair because these places just like to low ball people and sell for close to full price for maximum profit, but $350 is what I would make on eBay after all fees and they would still profit since they would definitely sell it for $400+ before tax, and they told me they would buy it for $250, a complete rip off low ball. Their reasoning was they said they would sell it for $329, but this is a complete lie because in July they sold a USED God of War PS4 Pro for 400 before tax, the same exact price it went for BRAND NEW when they were still around back then. Note that the God of War edition and the standard jet black PS4 Pro both retail for $400 brand new MSRP. I brought this up to who I was speaking to, saying if they sold a used one for $400 then they would sell a brand new one for at least that, if not more, and profit $80+ after tax if they bought my console for $350, and he really tried to tell me the price of the PS4 Pro was $600 in July. This was completely asinine because PS4 Pros have never retailed for more than $400 MSRP before tax besides two editions, the Monster Hunter World edition retailed for $450 and the other, the 500 million edition, retailed for $500, but these had extras included to supplement the extra cost. I was shocked at how dishonest these people were being as if they were taking me as some fool who didn’t know what things were worth, so I went to Once A Pawn A Time and got excellent service and asked the same exact questions I asked these guys, and the owner answered them truthfully and said he could offer $325 cash for my brand new unopened console, already $75 more than this rip off place. He also said whoever bought that PS4 Pro in July had no idea what it was worth and got ripped off, as no pawn shop should ever be selling anything used for its brand new price. I reported what I heard from Once A Pawn A Time to these guys and got no response back. That just goes to show they know their terrible business practices were figured out and they had no good response to give me, and that they do not care at all about anything else but ripping people off to make money, not to mention they didn’t say anything about being dishonest when I caught them on their marked up PS4 Pro price, all they said was that I was right that they were never anywhere near $600, yet they didn’t say anything about overpricing the used console they sold and purposely ripping that buyer off who had no idea what it was worth, he could’ve gone to GameStop and gotten the same console for $20 less at $380, and been protected by GameStop’s preowened guarantee and been able to return it, unlike here. For anyone reading this, know what your stuff is worth, and don’t let them trick you into letting it go for way less than what it’s worth, because they’ll just rip you off and put it back on the shelf for close to, if not full price. Take your time and sell on eBay or Craigslist and get top dollar for your items. If you must go to a pawn shop, go to Once A Pawn A Time, at least their they’ll be honest and upfront with you, unlike Penrose. Look at all the reviews here, all the five star reviews are from people who have bought from them, the one star ones are people who have tried to sell and realized this place gives less than bottom dollar. Their dishonesty is nothing new either, they had to go to court because they had bought a stolen motorcycle they were supposed to keep a look out for, and went and changed the dates on the pawn ticket to make it look like they bought it way after the fact. Shady business.

      Response from the owner

Hi Brian, we understand you are not a customer, which is puzzling why you are leaving a review. Regardless of the inaccurate information you posted, we are still more than happy to give you a firm quote in person, or an estimate over the internet. Understand, people use us for convenient, quick cash and we work hard to get people what they need, when they need it. In your case, it sounds like you want more than what the item's used value is, which makes for a tough business proposition. We thank you for the feedback.

Just read the review from Brian Moore. I don’t know how accurate that lawsuit info is or if you guys actually did lie to the man and say the Pros were once $600 in July and you sold a used one for $400 when brand new ones go for that and have never been above $400 MSRP, maybe it was an honest mistake on your part and you guys acknowledged that you shouldn’t have sold that used Pro for $400 and that new ones were never $600, but it’s over now and there’s no refunding the person who bought it at that overpriced point, and you guys would find it awfully difficult to try and do it again as nobody is looking to even spend that on any PS4 Pro unless it’s brand new and factory sealed, but as you know I too inquired about selling a brand new factory sealed and unopened PS4 Pro to you guys and I only got the quote of $250 as well, so I think that is standard for everyone for the brand new Pros and at least you’re consistent there. That is really low and undercutting it’s actual value of $435 after tax, that $250 is actually closer to their used trade in value at GameStop as you guys mentioned in your response to Brian, I sold the used one I asked you guys about over email for $330 on Craigslist with bothing else included with the console, without the box too, but with a place like you guys, that low value of $250 for a brand new and factory sealed one is the price a seller pays for quick, convenient, and fast cash today, taking that kind of hit on value to save the time selling on eBay or Craigslist, which some people find worth it and a lot of others do not, such as Brian and myself. I’m only rating this one star so you guys can see this and respond to it, and once you do I will change the rating as I don’t think it’s fair to rate you this poorly when I’ve never been in myself and am just taking the bad experience of someone else and building on it with my own experience and how I see it. You guys need to make money too and Brian’s asking price of $350 is more than fair and actually a steal if he was selling it to someone else, because his console is brand new, not used as you guys said in your response to him, but you guys see that as minimal profit and probably want to stay away from something you would only make $30-$40 on since that isn’t enough to go home positive at the end of the day after paying the cost of business and your employees, so from the business perspective it makes sense why you only offered used values for both of our brand new PS4 Pros, it’s just about making money and staying positive for you guys and being able to pay cost of operation all at the same time. It’s unfortunate Brian had a bad experience with you guys, and I completely understand where he’s coming from though, he just wants as much as he can for a console that cost him $435 after tax, just as you guys want maximum profit on everything you buy to resell. For you guys, maybe do a better job of communicating better and being more upfront since he called you guys liars and shady multiple times and provided very specific instances as to why he called you guys these things. I will say you guys did tell me eBay and PayPal fees were 20% and that I would make more taking your offer than I would selling it on eBay, but eBay and PayPal fees combined are only 12.8%, 10 for eBay and 2.8 for PayPal so I don’t know where you got 20% from or if you just told me that to try and get me to take less, I’m not going to accuse you of anything, but that combined with what Brian said is not a good look for you, or any business. Just my two cents. I sold my brand new Pro for $380 on Craiglist and the used one for $330 and made $710 as opposed to the $575 you guys offered for the both of them, so maybe suggest to Brian to go that route if you can if he wants to make the most money that he can for his console. Take care, and I’ll edit and change this review after your response. Please do try to make things right with Brian if what he said pertaining to his experience with you guys, excluding the lawsuit with another individual, was true in his review. Take care.

This place is awesome. Most pawn shops over price everything. These folks price their stuff reasonably and go above and beyond on pawns. Love this place.
