joseph preston2Yeah, I guess so...if you seriously need money in a pinch. Everyone knows they carry a close-to 30% interest charge. Not everyone knows though, they use precomputed interest. The entire balance of your loan, principle AND interest will show up on your credit report. This seriously effects your debt to income ratio, and makes your finances look worse than they actually are. Also, they use the archaic Rule of 78s in loan repayment. Essentially 75% of their interest to be made is lumped into the first half of the loan. You can't pay off your debt early to get out of it. They will tell you that you save money by repaying your loan off early, but you will save very, VERY little. You're on the hook, and nothing can be done more than refinancing with a more forthright institution. The Rule of 78s has been banned in all 50 states for loans more than 61 months. It has been banned in 17 states completely. Texas is just not one yet unfortunately. Springleaf: if any of this is inaccurate, please feel free to comment.

Pamela Pierson2Good to a certain point, loan almost paid off and didn't need the full max. They're holding my car title and wouldn't renew loan. Was going to give back what I didn't need so I'm done once I pay them off.
