I used to recommend this Credit Union to everyone that I knew. I had such a great experience with my loan. They were always super friendly. Then, I recently had a horrible experience. I was treated like crap because of a mistake that I made. Yes, I made the mistake, but there was no help on their end. They were rude, and very unforgiving. I could not believe the horrible customer service I got from the member service supervisor. I have worked in banking for ten years. I worked for a big local credit union, as well as a pretty big local bank. Credit Unions are not for profit, however, this one is taking profit because of a small mistake. They were rude, and basically said that because I didn't have the funds in there like I used to, that I didn't matter. I have NEVER experienced anything like this. I never treated members like they did. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I have only been a member of two credit union. My first experience with the other one was simply awful. I have been with OECU for nearly 25 years and I am proud to say that I have never been disappointed with any of the business needs that I have had. I would highly recommend this OECU to anyone. Job well done guys. From a very pleased customer.

      Response from the owner

Thanks so much for the kind words, Chester! We're always happy to help!

I am fairly new to OECU. I have had a hard time.getting any kind of bank account because of some prior expierences and while they limited my account at first they still gave me one. The service is great both online and on the phone. They work hard to protect your money and keep your identity safe. I have recommended numerous people to this establishment and will continue to send people their way.

Zack Skeeters was amazing and very friendly when I applied for my loan. Not only did he help me with what I needed, he had me approved and finished in less than a hour. What I expected to be super stressful was not at all , once I got in there Zack was so nice and made me feel comfortable it was a great experience.

      Response from the owner

Thank you so much Francisca for the review! We are so pleased your experience was not stressful. Zack is so great at helping our members! We are happy to help you Francisca.

I have a car loan through OECU and when I set it up I had it auto draft from my savings account from OECU. The next month I received a phone call telling me I was late on my car payment. I told them the auto draft should have paid it and they said that they can't auto draft a car loan from my savings account. Both the loan and the account are at OECU. So I went and set up a new auto draft from another bank that I use and pulled most of my money out of OECU. When I did the transaction the teller was so rude asking me why I was doing this and I told them it was their policy that was forcing me to leave. So a year later I go into the branch to make an extra deposit. I bring in a few hundred bucks every month to try and pay down my loan faster. In a crowded lobby they announce I am late on my car payment. I found out that they had made a mistake and lost my insurance paperwork when I first signed the loan. they added several thousand dollars to the loan and told me I needed to pay soon or else they would have to repossess the car. I corrected the situation but it was so frustrating to be called out in a lobby with other people around when it was their mistake. I also found out they were not taking my cash and paying down my loan. They were taking the money and putting it into my dormant savings account. It is not that much money in extra interest they cost me but still how incompetent do you have to be. I asked them to credit it to the loan but they said I would have to wait until a manager was there because only a manger can push that button apparently. Whatever standard of service they hold them selves to it is very low and you will have problems and issues if you do business with OECU. Looking to refinance that car loan with another bank.

**Update** Gotta love hot summers in the OK, my 17 yr old A/C condenser decided to give up. I gave OKCU to find out what my options were and spoke with Tammy Killman, she helped set me up a personal loan and had the funds in there by the next day. Thanks for always taking care of me. Been a member for over 25 yrs, when it was known as ESEO. Recently did refinance on our house, Kellie Freeman took care of us and the process and turn around were very quick. Glad the loan will be staying here locally. OKCU has always been my go to place to borrow when I need to.

      Response from the owner

Kevin this is amazing to hear! Wow, we have really been on a journey together this past 25+ years. It's so cool to hear about how our members have stuck with us for DECADES. We don't take it for granted. It makes us want to work even harder! Thank you for sharing.

Treat their customers terrible. My husband is paid once per month, we literally pay ALL of our bills within a 48 hour period between the last day of the month and the 1st. We call them every month to be able to up our daily limit on our debit card because not all of our bills will accept auto draft from a bank. This month they told us no, were very rude about it, said we've never been allowed to do it and that they've never done it. We've done it EVERY month for 6 months. Our daily limit is $250 per day. Our car payment alone is $400 and they don't accept checking accounts. We have already opened a new account and all of our money will be transferred into that account on the next payday. Dealing with OECU is absolutely ridiculous!

I have been with OECU for 9 years now and I guarantee I will not ever leave. I just have to talk to anyone there tell them what I need and they work hard to accomplish the best plan. Love this credit union!

      Response from the owner

Thank you Jonni for the kind review! We are happy to help. We appreciate you!

I used OECU for a car loan. When I moved out of state, I switched insurance companies twice. On the second switch, apparently my insurance company failed to send them sufficient documentation to prove that I still had coverage. Instead of calling me, they sent me a letter to the wrong address. The mail was never forwarded. Finally, some time later, they called me claiming that I was behind on my payments even though they autodrafted every month. The reason I was "late" was due to lack of insurance, which they then charged me for without updating the autodraft. I never once did not have insurance, nor did I receive any notification of this (Email, USPS, or Phone call). When they finally called me, I immediately sought to resolve the issue. My insurance company sent sufficient documentation proving my insurance was valid for the entirety of the loan. This rectified the situation, however, OECU still charged me for a late fee, and also retroactively dinged my credit for a late payment, although no payment was ever missed. Nor was there any reason for this to have occurred. Why they waited so long to actually call me still blows my mind. Dealing with the loan officer (Carlos) was absolutely miserable. He does not even pretend to care. He is unbelievably rude, disrespectful, and couldn't be any less helpful. Asking to speak to anyone other than him will just make him more unbearable. In speaking to someone who was much more helpful than Carlos, she helped me with the credit reporting error, and I did verify that it was rectified, until almost 2 months later, then it appeared again. I called back once again, spoke to Carlos, who was once again absolutely dreadful, and he told me the situation couldn't be rectified through them, and I would have to call the credit bureaus. I casually reminded him that not even a full 2 months prior, Melanie had taken care of this in less than 72 hours. He painstakingly attempted to talk to her, refusing to let me. She told him that she will have to talk to her supervisor tomorrow. I sure hope she can resolve this issue. However, due to these absolutely unnecessary hurdles, I would never recommend OECU to anyone. Customer service is extremely lacking, and their general knowledge seems to be substandard as well.

I have had so many great experiences here. Most of the bankers are really nice and understanding. Some of the tellers are rude and are not willing to work with you but the good out weigh the bad with this credit union.
