Neighbors Federal Credit Union Reviews

Briar Guitrau1I come to this branch sometimes to make my auto loan payment that is with another credit union, they are a smaller credit union and way better than Neighbors, so I used the "Shared Branch" option to make my auto payment, but now you can not even do that with Neighbors anymore. Apparently, they "stopped" doing shared branching, in my opinion, this is one of the huge factors and benefits to being a credit union. This is not even a credit union anymore, deff starting to feel and run more and more like a bank. If you are reading this review, take your business to BRECO FCU, at least they treat you like a person, someone picks up the phone and talks to you, and you can do a shared branch transaction with them. Edit: Mind you there is no notice that they do not do shared branching, there website at the time still shows they offer this service, and the CO-OP website still list them as a participating credit union, so when you spend time in their drive-thru, wait for an "live teller" to assist, all for them just to tell you, they don't offer that service anymore.... Make it make sense.

Treasure2So far IDK how to feel about this bank. I love the fact that they have credit counseling to get you on your feet BUT be in the negative for just 30 days and my teen now has a charge off on her credit report. Why go to the high schools and say you're wanting to teach them how to bank and in the learning process they go into the negative and don't clear it in thirty days and boom, negative credit score that will stay on their report for 7 years. Some may want to blame the parent but she had her account for 3 years and this is the first time it happened. No letter was mailed or anything so I was unaware it wasn't taken care of. The balance is now paid and the account is closed.

Alli Triplet1This place is very unprofessional. Mrs. Stewart left us voicemails multiple times and called me “AlexanDER” and then “AlexanDRIA” all within the same week. My name is “AlexandRA”. You work at a financial institution. The least you could do is learn pronunciation when dealing with members. When I did speak to her on the phone, she told me I “wasn’t listening and she just doesn’t understand how it can be so hard for me to listen.” Not only this, but our first boat got totaled. We had to deal with insurance and this credit union. We had to REFINANCE the entire loan even though we only replaced the hull of the boat. Not the motor and trailer. They made us go from a 4% rate to a nearly 13% rate. And increased doubled our payments instead of offering us the same rates as before considering this was an insurance claim. We can’t wait to move our business elsewhere. This credit union made it more difficult than I could ever possibly imagine and took their time with time sensitive arrangements costing us more money and headache.

Philip Wood5UPDATED RATING: Their new ATM’s now give you choice of bill size. Previously, their old ATM machine used to spit out only $100 dollar bills on any withdrawal over $100. Many businesses don’t accept $100 bills. Thank you!
Response from the ownerPhillip, thank you for letting us know of your concern. We are constantly listening and working to improve the experience for our members. In fact, we are actively working on a solution for your concern and should have one in the very near future.

Joshua Falgout1It is easier to just withdraw all of your money and let your account go to debt collectors for the $35 fee than it is to contact someone at this bank to close the account.

M G5I don't understand the negative ratings for this bank. A colleague recommended that I change financial instututions after I moved here from a national bank. I love Neighbors Federal Credit Union! Keep up the good work!
Response from the ownerThank you so much for the kind words Michele! We appreciate you and your membership.

Keith C1Steve Webb and his team need to wake up and stop trying to get all members to conduct all transactions at the ATM. The Prairieville branch offered the worst customer experience. The employees acted like my cash deposit for our business was too much of a burden for them to complete. The staff was not only rude but also extremely unprofessional. NFCU Needs New Policies for business members ASAP.
Response from the ownerKeith, we're so sorry to hear this. Our business members should always be able to use the dialogue tower instead of the Live Teller. If that wasn't communicated we apologize. Please email us your full name, contact info and mention this review, and we'll try to make this right.

Keisha Hill2I have so many years put into this bank & ties i have with them & they treat me like i haven't been a member for over 10 years . The past 3 years i had a dispute they would not help me with , which costed me alot of extra money because it was definitely an invalid transaction , also, i have never been on bad standing with a loan or credit card with this bank & they refuse to get me approved for anything anymore. Its just that this bank does not help you with credit or financially like they used to. I Used to love this bank only because i thought they would help me to succeed . this bank has horrible customer service most of the time. Im just over the fact that i put my hard earned money & time into a bank that cares nothing about me

Charlton Williams1Not off to a good start. Purchased a vehicle through them in July '15. They asked for a declarations page for my proof of insurance. I thought that was weird since with all the vehicles I've bought over the years I've only needed an insurance card but I provided it anyway. Left the dealership with the new vehicle thinking all is well. About a month later I receive a letter with the Neighbors letterhead telling me that a "collateral protection insurance policy" was purchased on my behalf and the cost added to my loan. I immediately follow the instructions in the letter and send another copy of my insurance to these people under the impression my money would be refunded. It's now Dec. '15 and I have continued to be charged monthly for this "insurance" in spite of 1) providing proof of insurance since the purchase date 2) providing proof every month since then, even having several representatives call my insurer directly to get whatever paperwork they wanted. I've finally talked to someone in the titling dept. at the credit union who assured me that my money would be refunded but had an attitude with me as if I had done something wrong. That's the biggest slap in the face since I did everything they asked for from day one and now I'm treated as if this is all my fault. I'VE HAD INSURANCE SINCE DAY 1 and provided proof to the dealership and credit union. If I didn't the dealership wouldn't even allow me to take the vehicle home. I don't even know how it's legal to add charges to an auto loan after the date of purchase without my knowledge or approval. Saved a little on the interest but certainly not enough to deal with this headache of reversing what I consider fraudulent charges to my loan. Be aware of these type of policies when dealing with this institution.
