MSU Federal Credit Union Reviews

LC1Looking for a bank you can trust with your money? Well this is not the bank for you. I was extremely disappointed after recently noticing an unauthorized charge on my debit card. After speaking to the retailer and receiving no explanation on what the charge was for, the retailer told me they could not help me and I needed to contact my bank. So I spoke to Caitlin at MSUFCU who told me she was unable to help me as well and I should call the retailer. I do not appreciate the finger pointing game, being given the run around, and my bank refusing to protect me against unauthorized charges. How very unfortunate that MSUFCU will not take the side of their customer over an unauthorized charge as small as $5. I would be very scared to keep the bulk of my money at this credit union knowing that they do not care about their members. I planned on making this account my main checking account but have decided not to after this experience and realizing that I would not be protected against fraud and unauthorized charges. World of mouth is very important in this small community and I’ll be sure to share my experience anytime I hear anyone mention this credit union.

John M.1This used to be a good place to do my banking. Interest rates are a pathetic .01% and then they charge you fees when you want to remove your money. Cashiers checks and money orders used to be free--oh no, not now--$5 charge. No one seems to "remember" when this used to be the case. They also don't remember what good service is. Keep looking if you are looking for a place to do business. I'm sure I'll have some BS response shortly showing up below, telling me to contact them further. Well, I have already been in contact with you, with no resolution of my complaint, so spare me the insincere response.

I hope you don’t have any issues outside of the prompts or else your not getting the help your looking for. would give lower rating if possible

Rich Feight3UPDATE 12/21/21: Originally 1 star because I wasn't happy with several occurrences of bad experiences at the drive through teller. After further reflection, MSUFCU has been stellar on all other aspects of service for my personal and business accounts. If the teller service improves, I'll update again. Original Review: Not a fan of the drive through teller.

Antonio M1I’ve had several mortgages and accounts with this credit union. Each time I feel like I am just treated as a number. Regular clerical errors on documents, calling me by the wrong name, bait and switch situations to get a loan closed. I keep the accounts because I invested so much into their mortgage fees. I keep all my savings and investments elsewhere simply because I don’t really trust them. Most recently I called to start another mortgage application. It’s impossible to get someone on the phone and they have now taken my information twice and said I would get a call back. It never happened. I’ll be refinancing as soon as I can and moving to a new institution.

Justin Boosinger1After 5 yrs of being a customer, and probably 100k put through that credit union they have repeatedly refused to help me grow my business and provide my family with a reliable vehicle. Yes I don't have good credit, this is why I went to a credit union to do my banking when I was told they would help me based on my activity with their credit union. Should have stayed with my previous bank. I would recommend a small credit union. These guys are not helpful in any way.

DreadedSilverback Reviews2Yeah they've definitely don't tell you before they run their credit check and then try to get you to sign it like you give them authorization first but you didn't. Was a customer for over 9 years because my family was. Never very helpful but that's usually how big corporations are. Very clean and some What fast service.

Brent “iballen93” Allen1To start, I mentioned that I was interested in opening an account and they took down my first and last name and told me to wait and someone would be with me. 10-15 minutes later I get an ugly look from someone and they say I can help you. I follow her into her office and she starts off by telling me that I owe them some amount of money from 2007. No identification validation at this point. She says in order to open an account this balance must be paid. How would you like to pay today. Still no validating my identity, however claiming I owe them money. After a little discussion she requests identification through drivers license and SSN and tells me the birth dates don't match so never mind on that accusation. Next thing I know she's telling me stuff about my credit as well as a score. She ran a credit check without asking me. Literally no discussion. After she hands me forms to sign. One of which happens to be consent for running a credit check. At this point all I wanted was my account so I could save 0.25% on an auto loan. I signed the form and left. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone as they charge a fee to become a "member" as well as accuse you of things you never did prior to any identity validation.
Response from the ownerHi Brent. We appreciate your feedback. Our team has worked to reach out to you to learn more about your experience. Zach5I have been a member of MSUFCU for almost 10 years and their service is impeccable. I recently had fraudulent ATM charges from another state. They investigated immediately and I was very pleased with the outcome.
Response from the ownerThanks Zach!
