Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union Reviews

Tia Roberson2Have had a credit card and another loan that i paid off with this CU for a good 6 years and the last couple times I've applied for a loan here I've been denied while other credit unions were willing to work with me after being denied here. They are not member friendly to me. They dnt even offer alternatives or ways that you can move forward to eventually be approved. Just a denial and then bye! Need to work on customer service and educating members on finances especially after being denied people need to know what options they have.

Miscellaneous Moon2I would not suggest this credit union for a loan because the company they use for credit scores seems to be more than fifty points lower than other credit unions such as Genisys. I'm not sure if everyone would have that situation but we did and though westill had good credit they wanted a cosigner and collateral for the loan.
Response from the ownerThank you for providing this feedback. MSGCU is committed to helping our members with their financial goals. Many variables are taken into consideration when making a lending decision, including credit score, payment history, income, debt, member’s high credit on their credit bureau and stability of employment. Each individual situation is different. You can get free weekly credit reports containing these factors from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/whatIsCreditReport.action. We’re happy to review your credit report with you or discuss further at any branch office or by phone at (866) 674-2848.

Tyler Prince1This place is a joke. customer service is literally the farthest thing from what they are trying to accomplish. after reading other peoples reviews it looks like i'm not the only person that is thinking this way. not sure who runs this place but they might want to pay attention to what's going on around them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Tell others the same
Response from the ownerHi Tyler, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we’re sorry to hear your experience was less than exceptional. With a 96% satisfaction rate for 2 decades, our goal is to make it right. Please contact us at (866) 674-2848 so we can help.

Mark Melton1Payed off my loan, had a balance and nolonger lived in the area. They would not send my money to me without coming into the branch. Over two years fees wiped out most of balance and sent the rest to the state after charging me $50 to do so. I have $20 dollars with the state of over $280. Not doing business with these there's again.

Bryan Nowicki5I am the owner of Select Restoration in Fraser MI. I have several banks i deal with on a regular basis. During this pandemic, things have been crazy at all my banking facilities. I have to give a big shout out to a girl that work at the Garfield location, Jessica. This young lady works seamlessly under pressure and gets thing done correctly. She took the time to make sure that my transaction was successful, even following up the next day. I am a very happy customer. Thank you to Michigan Schools & Government, This young lady deserves a BIG PAY RAISE, Don't Let Her Go or i will hire her.. Bryan Nowicki, Select Restoration

Jason J1I cannot believe how awful the online banking and app is after all these years. They constantly open new offices and remodel offices but can't you just get some key features most people want from online banking? At least be able to log in on a consistent basis? And really all these new offices and still nothing north of 23 Mile Rd? You definitely aren't a Macomb County credit union anymore.

FM Channel1I keep tracking my expenses and keep checking my bank apps on my phone everyday to avoid overdraft. Today, I checked my apps I was like in a surprised!!! I owe -68$. I know I still have some money on my account. So I called the call center and explained everything but they doesn't want to help you at all. It's time to close my account and change my direct deposit.

Nolan Poloney1After almost 20 years of being a member of this credit union I have decided to leave. They were great to work with in the beginning but progressively increased in difficulty. The basic purpose of a credit union is that it's members pool their money and are able to borrow with ease. The larger they have gotten the more they have become comfortable In charging fees and not providing support to their members. I asked for help in refinancing and debt reduction and was told they could only offer me more credit. That's not what I was looking for, I was looking for help and couldn't find it... sad that is how they treated a 20 year member. I ended up moving to Advia credit union where they spent hours working with me, my financials, and showing personal interest in me as a member. I still have a loan with MSGCU but by the end of the year it will be gone thanks to Advia.

Joey B1I have an auto loan through MSGCU and misplaced my account number, my bill was due so I called the credit union for help paying my bill and the call center representative who assisted me was very rude. I unfortunately didn't get her name but she seemed pretty miserable while assisting me. If I was thinking of opening a bank account with them, my experience with that call center rep would've made up my mind to bank elsewhere.
