Members 1st Federal Credit Union Reviews

Courtney1Members used to be a great place to bank with but their customer service has gone downhill significantly. The last time I was at the drive up the teller was rude and kept interrupting me, and there has been more than one occasion that we have sent messages via their portal that just never get replied to. We are planning on changing banks at this point despite being with them over 10 years.
Response from the ownerHi Courtney, we are sorry to hear about your experience and would like to see how we could help. Please email our team at [email protected]. Thank you!

Nikole Boston5The branch manager Molly was a pleasure to work with today. There was a long wait but I expected that and the staff were pleasant and checked in often enough. Molly apologized for the wait several times which I found unnecessary but she genuinely cared. She showed genuine interest in working with me as a client and as a person. This has always been my experience at every branch I've been to with members 1st. I hope they continue to expand so I don't have to drive as far and add additional services.
Response from the ownerThank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience, Nikole Boston!

Caitlinnnloveslife5Gabby was very helpful! I haven’t used my bank card in years and my account became inactive. Gabby helped me figure out how to renew my account and gave me a new card on the spot! Thank you so much for all the help! Now I can use direct deposit for my paychecks and start saving again!
Response from the ownerThank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience, Caitlinnnloveslife!

Tessica Banks-Harp4Ive been banking with Members for over 2 yrs now. ( my parents for over 7 yrs) For the most part its been a good experience. However, recently I wanted to open a certificate of deposit and was given an appt. with some grumpy man who acted as if dealing with my 10,000 was wasting his time and actually talked me out of it. Saying I wouldnt make any interest worth while. I left w/o a CD. I was disappointed that day. Maybe if I had 100,000. I wouldve felt more welcomed. I want to refinance too but frightened to even go in to talk with them. Been considering changing banks.
Response from the ownerHi Tessica Banks, we are so sorry to hear about your experience. Our team would like to take a closer look at your situation. Please email us at [email protected]. Thank you!

Julie Peterson5I’m surprised to hear these negative reviews. We’ve been banking with Member’s 1st for 33 years and have had nothing but a wonderful experience, and we do extensive banking using many of their services. We’ve always been happy with them, but what really showed me first-hand how great they were was when we transferred a home equity line of credit from another local bank to a similar account under Member’s 1st. What should have been a relatively straightforward transaction became a nightmare that lasted many hours over a two day period because the other bank had cumbersome procedures and fees that Member’s 1st waived on their end. The Member’s 1st personnel were always friendly and professional and went out of their way to handle the transaction on their end quickly and painlessly. The difference between the two was night and day. No brainer. We’ll never change from using Member’s 1st.
Response from the ownerThank you for being a member, Julie!

Miller Million11) Terrible policy, terms and conditions, and follow through of written policies from upper management of the branch. (They had all rights to waive any and/or all fees). 2) My account was dinged 59 overdraft fees on 59 $10 transactions. $320 was actually deducted from my account and paid to the merchants on my behalf. So I became responsible for 32 overdraft fees. $1184 in overdraft fees over $320 charged to the members of the credit union. That is roughly a profit to Members 1st of $900. 3) I had deposited funds to cover any and all transactions roughly 10 minutes after they processed through pending activity (I tried to beat the time frame I thought I had which was 11pm and they dinged at 5pm). I was literally 10 minutes too late (5:10pm deposit). My $1200 deposit was basically taken away by fees. $16 of the deposit went towards any of the charges on my plate. 4) Upper management did not honor the mistake of timing. They accepted a $900 profit of my mistakes. 5) Credit Unions are ran and funded by members. Mostly on interest rates. They are tax exempt entities, unlike banks. They claim to be “Not-For-Profit”. They profited $900 on my behalf. I paid back everything to the members of the union 10 minutes after they were “affected”. 6) Almost all other banks and/or credit unions have maximum overdraft fees per business day. Most are 4-5 overdraft fees MAX on any given business day. This “bank”went 8x’s (literally was 14x's to begin with) that rate on me. 7) This whole issue is totally unjust and very inconsiderate on the upper management of the branch. The terms say they have the rights to waive any and/or all fees. They hardly helped me out at all... 8) The First thing they did to fix the issue, is all that they did for the matter! Even after 7 days of waiting for a return phone call. In conclusion, stay far away from this “bank” their policies are unjust and upper management left me high and dry when I was 10 minutes late on my funds being deposited. Look elsewhere to local banks such as PNC bank, or M&T bank because they do have Maximum Overdraft Fees per Day!

Benji1They told me that my account had overdraft protection but it doesn't. They charge a 37 dollar fee as soon as the account is overdrawn. I know other banks give you 24 hours to make a deposit. They did not stop payments from coming out of my account when I did not have funds to cover them. Tbh I think they want to charge as many fees as they can.

Trisha Coons1Dealing with this bank has been a nightmare. Was told 1-2 business days to deposit a check over 500 dollars. However, even if you put the check in before the start of the business day, that day does not count. Our business days must be different. The online view of the accounts are also extremely hard to read and almost never accurate due to the holds they put on your account. Changing my bank as soon as possible. Not to mention the entrance to the bank should not be an entrance.

Kate Johansson1Very extremely rude teller. Asked my daughter who was depositing money there, "do you even know how much money is here" and then when my daughter replied she said "well we have to count it properly anyway because we can't just take your word for it" AND THEN she said "maybe you should get a better line of work". Now as far as I have always known, it is a tellers job to count money. I have never been asked by any teller how much cash I have in hand. They simply take it and count it and confirm the amount with you unless you have it written out on a deposit slip then they just make sure the amounts match and you're done. Furthermore, it is none of any bank teller's business where the money is earned. The reason why they have a job is because of people making deposits. She should be fired on the spot.

Just Play Games2I know the banks cant give out a ton of coin rolls. So I took in $130 and told the lady that I understand and is there anyway That I could get a few rolls of each. Maby like $5 in Penny's ,$10 in nickles, and ect. But she must not of understood and asked what I wanted. So I said o umm. $25 in Penny's. I did not think that was unreasonable. She was very nice and went to ask the manager . The manager said No and they order them for business. So I asked if I could order them? The clerks said no and they only do it for business. So I deposited the $130. Does anyone know Any banks that will order or give you coins rolle? Near newville pa. Cause I am looking to switch banks
