Tony Whitaker1I’ve been a customer with mariner for a little while. I had an incident and the way it was handled wasn’t quite the best way or in the best interest of the me being the customer. I left the office in tears basically because I was backed into the corner into another loan and lien on my vehicle. Gail, handed me a loan proposal sheet telling me what my loan was for not even mentioning it being optional. She had her employees deny me from getting corporates number. She treated me as if I was less than her. Forced me to take insurances never mentioning they were optional either.

Adam Horton1This "business" preys on the weak, poor, and elderly in our community by offering them easy access to predatory loans with insanely high interest rates. The most recent offer that came in the mail had an actual check attached saying "Simply cash the attached check! This check represents a loan." and lists the interest rate on the back as 35.98% APR. Predatory is the only term to use for this displicable company. Do not use their services unless you want to get into debt that you can't get out of. Best of luck with your loan needs. Please look elsewhere.

Jordan M1Absolutely terrible loan department. Would never recommend to anyone. Staff is friendly, however, they do not take pride in customer satisfaction. They do not accept payments over the phone. I have used several credit agencies/loans, and have an excellent credit score, and this is by far the worst agency I’ve ever used. The company policies are not customer friendly. “Same as cash” doesn’t apply if you are a day late. “Same as cash” doesn’t apply if you are 4 states away, and call to ensure your payment is on time. They will tell you it’s in your loan terms, and you should’ve mailed it in, or paid your payment in store before leaving. Needless to say, I missed one payment as I was 600 miles away, but I did call to communicate with the staff and explain the situation, and that I would pay over the phone and their response was, we do not accept payments over the phone, sorry. Thus, resulting in a 25-30% spike on my APR/Interest rate for a furniture loan. Instead of having to pay a gazillion dollars of interest, I’m going to pay it off in one lump sum next week. Luckily, I’m in a position to do so. I would hate for somebody to be in a position where they could not, and as a result are stuck with this greedy loan agency. Also, currently, being that they don’t accept payments over the phone, I typically make my payments in-store via cash. Most recently, I went instore to make a payment @ 5:07 P.M. (there hours of operation show open until 5:30 P.M.). I walked inside to the clerk and her manager, & they both said, “sorry, you can leave your money and we’ll post a payment for you tomorrow or you can come back tomorrow because we’ve already pulled the drawers, sorry.” The lady sitting at her desk said, “We close at 5:30.” I replied while taking a glance at my watch, “It’s not 5:30 yet is it?” It was 5:08. They had each pulled and counted down their cash drawers at 5:00, so they could leave when 5:30 hit, thus resulting in a customer not being able to make a cash payment (the only form of payment they accept to my knowledge-they potentially accept checks but I’m unsure) and resulted in me having to come back at a later date to process my payment, ensure it was posted to my account, and receive proof of payment via receipt. The staff never apologized for the inconvenience. And please don’t get me started on their methods for calculating APR/and what portion over your minimum payment is applied to interest and what’s applied to your principle. Don’t ask the staff either, as they do not seem competent enough to understand their own loan terms in my experience. By far the worst experience I’ve ever received as a customer. They are greedy and will make an extra dollar off of you within the fine print, so make sure to read every line before signing. I’ve never left a business review for any credit agency I’ve ever used (neither good nor bad). But my experience with Regency Loans has been beyond terrible, and I felt obliged to try to help somebody else who is considering applying for a loan through them in the future. I’ll be paying off my furniture loan in full next week, as I will not be Nickel and Dimed any further nor will I deal with their difficult payment processes, nor will I deal with the terrible customer service from their staff. This business office doesn’t consider the customer’s best interest, and doesn’t care about it’s clients. If my loan had been a more substantial amount, I would file a lawsuit against this company and exacberate every last penny to my name to ensure my success in court. I was wrongfully penalized an increased 25-30% APR rate that was supposed to be 0% for 18 mo.’s. Also, they possess falsely claimed payment methods, due to staff. Also, they make it very difficult for the consumer to successfully come out with the result that they intended to utilize Regency Finance for, and they use that to their advantage any way possible to profit the company more money.
