Brandon D1I wish Google would allow you to give negative stars because this hospital is absolutely ridiculous. A family member was sent here from Urgent Care because they needed a blood transfusion due to a botched surgery that was performed at Los Alamitos Hospital, and instead of helping them, they were immediately released. Because of this, their blood levels continued to drop, and they ended up having a heart attack which severely damaged their heart. The doctors seem to have disappeared after the incident, as we haven't heard from anyone regarding the issue. Now they are continuously in and out of the hospital, (a different one, of course), because Los Alamitos Emergency Room doesn't know how to do their jobs. If you want your loved ones to die, take them to Los Alamitos Hospital! Otherwise, find anywhere else! Even your local veterinarian is more skilled than these sad excuses for doctors!
Response from the ownerWe’re sorry about any ongoing frustrations, Brandon. We’d like to speak with you about your concerns. Can you please email your contact information to [email protected]? We will have someone from our hospital leadership reach out.

Cc Ma1Rudeness runs from the ER, OR, front desk... Nightmare stories I have witnessed first hand( As I'm sitting in the hospital)The way the staff disregarded patients and their families. They say it starts at the top and works its way down. Wow!!! This place needs a major overhaul. And I've only been here 6 hours. My husband started out being sent to a Dept with another patient admit paperwork. Really, and 2 people pulled his paperwork and didn't notice. Patient privacy out the window. And the worst part is they acted as if it was a common accurance. And that was a minor I had seen today.

ann fannie1My Mother was admitted through ER. Her care in the ER was excellent and by day one her medical records showed remarkable improvement on the medication she'd been given by the ER DR. From there things went down hill fast. Apparently the Drs in ICU where she ended up the afternoon of the following day changed the medication to the generic form without telling me. In fact her Drs never spoke to me except to get my permission to put her on a ventilator so her body could heal (she agreed to this procedure) when I cornered the DR later to find out what was going on he told me to leave them alone and let them do "their thing". The nurses kept reassuring me my Mother was improving yet I noticed they had removed all liquids plus, from looking at her file (that was before they hid it from me.) she had been placed on Lasic (a powerful diuretic). When I asked if she was getting any nourishment at all they put a bag of some sort of food on her hook which I found out later they never gave her. By this time (Day 3) I was frantically trying to get another DR on her case and failing everywhere I turned but still the nurses reassured me Mother was doing well and her vitals on the machine seemed OK so time went on until day 11 when the nurses told my daughter and me Mother was much improved and they expected her to be off the machine the following day. We went home for a much needed rest believing all was well only to get a call two hours later saying my Mother was dying and she passed before we could get back to the hospital. I ordered her medical records and discovered a new DR my personal physician (who is not on staff there but was concerned about what I told him) had sent to check on her had said her prognosis was very poor and the family should be talked to that very day she passed away and we had been told all was well. If your loved one is in this hospital someone should be with them all the time and if anything remotely like what happened to my Mother is noticed call in the Hospital Administrator or the Patient Advocate asap... which I wish I had done but didn't think about it at the time.

Brian H.5The Best Hospital! The Staff is so friendly, the facility is clean and the parking is great. Los Alamitos is Beverly Hills of medical communities and it all starts with Los Alamitos Medical Center, the Social Workers really care, the nursing staff is friendly! The Doctors are really the cream of the cream of the crop. This is your destination for so many health care professionals. The New Buildings are beautiful and the New Parking Structure makes getting in and out a breeze.
Response from the ownerThank you for your positive feedback, Brian!

Diana Lopez2I expect more from doctors! Health is more than physical health, there’s a mental component to it that the doctor here obviously cares nothing about. How can you discharge someone who you haven’t even spoke with!!! And then you walk away when I question you! Shame on you, you took an oath! It’s just a paycheck to some! There are good doctors out there, not tonight, not here! The rest of the staff was great! Shift turnover- what a difference, he actually listened after he asked a question and ordered follow up. I’ll increase my rating one star because of him. Overall, unacceptable for any ER
Response from the ownerWe are sorry we didn't meet your expectations, Diana. We take patient complaints seriously and would like to follow up with you. Do you mind sending your contact information to [email protected]?

josh jackson1My mother has been here 3 times and this hospital is consistently awful. Uncaring nurses. They don’t manage pain even though they claim that it is their goal. They never update (also a claimed goal) the patient as to what is happening. All you can do is wait in pain wondering. Its the worst. Will never go here again!
Response from the ownerWe’re sorry to hear about your mother’s experience, Josh. We will address this with hospital leadership.

Lisa Simmons-Kalachi1Tonight's E.R. experience was not to be believed. I signed in at 7:00 p.m. When I signed in there were three people in the waiting room. However, the back was very busy, which is understandable on a Friday night. I presented with excruciating pain all over my body, particularly my back and neck. I could not turn my neck. I told the triage nurse I had fibromyalgia and I had fractured a bone in my back last month, however I couldn't walk more than 50 feet unaided. The admitting nurse was very helpful and accommodating, as was triage. I was taken back to the E.R. and placed on a gurney to get an e.k.g. Then I was asked to wait in the lobby for there were no beds available. Fine, I understand that. When I got back to the lobby, about 20 people had come in and apparently, I had lost my place on the waiting list. Out of nowhere, I man appeared, and he was as high as a kite on drugs.(wearing an armband indicating he was a patient). He disturbed everyone. The lone security guard seemed completely unable to control him. He kept telling him to go outside and without 60 seconds, he came back in, harassing everyone in the waiting room. We were told they couldn't do anything (such as isolating him) and they cops "should be called, but we cannot right now."! WTH? I was there three hours, and he continued to pay cat and mouse with the security guard with was as ineffective as possible in controlling this patient. Whey was he not isolated in a separate part of the hospital? Any hospital I've ever been to, that would have been a given. For some unknown reason - and despite the description of my symptoms, they insisted on running a blood test to test my cardiac enzymes. I don't understand that, since I did not present with signs even remotely resembling cardiac issues. When my friend who was accompanying me checked to see when I would be taken care of (this was at 10:00 p.m.), she was told "'probably the middle of the night. It was during this messy encounter at the E.R., that a nurse came out to take people's blood right there in the lobby, and administer pain medication. I've never been to a hospital like this, and believe me, I would have to be unconscious to ever return.
Response from the ownerWe're sorry we didn't meet your expectations, Lisa. We will look into your concerns with the staff.

Silvia Ceja5I had my baby on April 18 2017 and the staff treated me like family. My first nurse Nora was wonderful with me. She answerd all my questions and was allways asking me and my husband if we needed anything. I also want to thank the rest of the nurses and staff (sorry I don't remember the names) and my doctor Jose Luis De La Rosa. I am so happy I choose Los Alamitos Medical Center to have my baby girl Geraldine. We will be forever grateful. Thank You.

Brittany C Rodriguez (kthxbrit)16 years ago my uncle died here and a malpractice suit was soon issued against them. The hospital was found to be at fault. My aunt also had a hysterectomy surgery here and the surgeon left a sponge inside her that she thought was tumor. It was later removed and this hospital was sued in that case as well. My aunt won this malpractice case against the hospital as well.
