Libertyville Savings Bank: Fairfield Reviews

Buck Naked1My Bank is closing. I'd been 48 years at the same bank. I always heard good things about Libertyville Savings. But as someone else posted they require a credit check to open a checking & savings account. I NEVER let anyone run my credit score unless I'm borrowing money. I just stood up & walked away. I'm sure some other bank will take my money.

Lila Williams1I went to Libertyville Savings to open a checking account, bringing with me $5,000 with which to do so. I was ushered into the office of a bank officer who opened our conversation with: "I just want you to know that we require a credit score of 640 or higher". and offered me a form to sign for a credit check. She added "Some people don't want to do this because they feel it may lower their credit score." Indeed, a hard credit check will do that. I politely declined and left, and later called the bank asking to speak with Greg Lowenberg, as I know him from his days at Central Valley Bank. The receptionist checked with Greg, came back after about two minutes, explaining that Greg was "not available". I left a voicemail requesting if rMr. Lowenberg would please return my call. He did not do Thinking it had been so long since I had opened a bank account that I didn't know all banks do this, I contacted three banks in Fairfield, to ask if they required a credit score of 640. All three advised that not only do they not require a particular credit score, they do not run credit score checks on those who come to open accounts. I went to Libertyville savings with $5000 to put into their hands for safe keeping. They were not putting one thin dime into mine. Now who should be checking whose credit score here?
