  Very happy to have received the CA Relief Grant! The process was cumbersome and often confusing, response was slow at times and vague, but in the end with patience and perseverance, we prevailed!

  My sister, Karen and I opened Eco Dog Care LA in 2010 after ditching corporate careers. Our business is very much tied to neighbors, the local community and the local businesses. (Karen lives on S Ogden - about 6 blocks from our place on West Pico.) When the pandemic smashed into LA, the fear and worry was palpable, everywhere and every day. We worried almost constantly about our friends & neighbors health, our own and our staff’s health, how we’d keep the business open for the the dogs of first responders and for the local rescues who counted on us to care for vulnerable dogs. We lost 75% of our monthly revenues almost immediately starting in March 2020. We are up to about 60% in the past 2 month but decidely NOT home safe. (Our landlord continues to be very kind and we’ve relied on the understanding business practices of LADWP and SOCAL utilities and the good grace of Wells Fargo. And the unfailing kindness of individuals who supported us and donated to our family’s charity for rescues.) It was (and still is) a ball of stress on emotional, mental & physical levels. I don’t mean to diminish the experience of anyone else but there is a real aspect of PTSD to consider for every small business owner who faced this rampage. A true light at the end of the tunnel was the announcement of the CA Relief Grant and the very professional way with which it was executed.
