I'm giving the lending company 3 stars because the loan officer I worked with was very slow in updating me to the point where he ultimately just stopped with my application all together. I would give it one star, but my sister's experience was better so this is where the 3 stars come in. My sister and I were both applying around the same time, but she started a few weeks before me. The loan officer did move slow, but at least responded. She was able to purchase her house and her process was about 3 months (including initial application, searching for a home, and closing). She does have excellent credit, but mine is well above the requirement. So I'm not sure if that was the reason for better treatment. I was not disrespectful to the lender or anything. I completed my application and simply asked him for the next steps. He replied within 1-2 days that one time, confirming he received it and would review. After about a week I sent an email asking for an update and he replied that he was busy because he had a lot of applications to process. I understand being a smaller company and needing more time, but not responding is very unprofessional. I also asked him was my application denied and he said no. I waited a couple weeks then checked in again and no response. This was early June and it is now July 29 with no further updates. Not on our loan portal, email,or phone. No letter or anything. I would not be upset if I would have gotten denied. I would not even be that upset about the timeframe, if he wouldn't given me one. I am upset because of the lack of communication. A simple email response with an ETA or something would have sufficed. I really wanted to support Black owned but I'll have to sit this one out. Maybe another loan officer within the company would've been better but at this point I'm done. Im debating on whether or not to update this with the name of the loan officer. On one hand I don't want the entire company to be judged on one person, but on the other hand I don't necessarily want to bring another person down individually. I ended up applying through another company, who is like a sister company to Legacy called Alterra. It's a small company as well and is kind of slow tbh. But, my officer replies back immediately most of the time and explains to me what I need to do. We'll see how this one goes.
