KeyBank Reviews

John Tyler1*Edited after taking a breather* We used Key Bank to finance a kitchen remodel with the plan to refinance at the end of the project. Kyle was super helpful and all went smooth until time to refinance. Long story short, after months of terrible customer service and jumping through unnecessary hoops we were able to pay them off and finance through another lender. After paying off loans we were left with a small positive balance with Key Bank. It was a nightmare to get them to close the loans and pay us the over payment. Took many phone calls and hours dealing with them but finally we were just happy to be rid of them! So we thought... Now one year later, they are saying we never closed the loan (although we paid off the balance and closed the and have a new mortgage) and owe them an annual fee and processing fees to close the loans. Now we have to go back to the title company and figure out who dropped the ball because they are claiming a lien on the property for ~$150 (LOL). I would gladly pay the penalties and fees just to be rid of them, but I have zero faith they will take care of their end and this point its a matter of principle. As one neighbor to another.... DONT USE THEM AT ALL COST!

Jaclyn5I have banked at Key for 27 years and although my experiences have not all been free of error, any business I have done with Key Bank in Saline has made up for those moments of frustration. Helena and Christina among others have gone above and beyond to give optimal service, to protect my interests, and to give friendly advice. They are patient and caring and I will most certainly continue banking here. Thank you both for all of your help and consideration.
Response from the ownerHi Jaclyn, Thanks so much for the 5* review and compliment. We're so happy you've been a dedicated client for so many years and hope to keep it going for many more. I will pass along this post to the branch, they will be so happy to see this. Have a great week!!! ^LH

Lindsay Nixon5I love this bank! It is by far my favorite branch. They have consistently gone above and beyond to meet and exceed all of my expectations. I have multiple business and personal accounts here and they are very accommodating. If I bring a concern regarding a bank fee or service charge, they are happy to explain and are very fair and understanding when need be. Even when I arrive a couple minutes before 9 am, the door is open and they are ready for me. I had an issue with an international transfer and their team spent hours on the phone on more than one occasion doing everything they could to assist. I can't say enough great things. Thank you Key!
Response from the ownerHi Lindsay: Thanks for the great rating and review, we really appreciate it and appreciate you being our client. I'll pass this along to the branch, they'll be thrilled. ^LH

Steven Sclater1Been a customer for 17 years. Difficulties started at closing with a lie and business banker slouching he his chair. Many issues during the years and was finely able to pay off the mortgage in July of this year. Fast forward to today and I am selling my business and you guessed it, they never removed the liens. No desire to fix one of they mistakes in a timely manner. Closing had to be postponed. Previous review is correct in that the people at the branch are incredible. The problem is corporate.
Response from the ownerHi Steven, I'd like to see what I can do to help. Would you mind emailing some details about your issue to us at [email protected]? Please include any names of whom you've worked with, along with your full name, and phone number. ^CS

Amber Wardia1The employees at the Saline branch are friendly and helpful; however, the previous reviews are correct. They charge $10 to my employees to cash a check written out of their bank which I find egregious. They also pack on a lot of fees here and there. The attitude is that they are a business and they are there to make money. In fact, that was what I was told. Of course every business exists to make money; however, I feel like when that becomes priority over service, there is a problem.
Response from the ownerHi Amber - KeyBank charges non-customers a fee to cash a check at our KeyBank branches. While we believe the fee is reasonable, and is an industry standard, I understand your frustration. None of us likes to pay fees, even when we understand why they exist. I would like to offer you an explanation: KeyBank is glad to render services to our customers – services they pay for through regular checking account service charges. We are just as glad to render these same services to those who are not yet our customers – we simply ask that they “pay as they go” for them. Checks cashed by those who are not our customers still require the same level of service, hence the fee. We also feel strongly that consumers should have the choice to either cash a check at KeyBank and pay the fee, or choose not to, and go to their own financial institution. That is why the teller informed you of the fee before you completed the transaction. Please be aware that KeyBank policies comply with the Uniform Commercial Code. Please let me know if there is anything further you would like to discuss in regards to this. Thanks! ^ JJ

Mary Newton1The local branch in Saline has nice people there -but corporate runs the show and they are powerless. Many of their practices are designed to get maximum fees and service charges from their customers - which I find offensive. I did not realize how bad they were till I went to Chase and found a whole new world of banking without the "stick it to them" feel I got at Key. If looking for a new bank - Key is not a good option in my opinion.
Response from the ownerMary, I would like the opportunity to address the way you feel about KeyBank. Please send us an email to [email protected] and include your phone # so I can give you a call. KeyBank Customer Care

Walid Aldeeb5This has been my primary bank location for about 5 years, and I've never had any issues. Customer service is top notch: The staff are welcoming, professional, and courteous. I go to Mr. Miller for all my loan needs, and he exceeds my expectations every time. Same goes for all the friends and family members I referred.
