Independent Financial Reviews

Valentina Bebo4I love Independent Bank but this location is designed rather poorly, specifically at their drive up atm and teller windows. It’s almost impossible to pull up the the atm and actually be able to reach out and touch the machine to complete the transaction. It seems to be out of order or blocked off quite frequently, too. It’s also kind of secluded and poorly lit after dark, which makes it a good target for opportunists. If I can make it to one of the locations, I will as an alternative to this branch.

Steve Culbertson1They charge you a $35 fee to return the the payment and not cover it since they have no overdraft and then charge you another paid item fee after you deposit money and the transfer gos through. So they charge you two fees of $35 for the same transaction! This is insanely and greed at it's worst. I am in the process of switching my business and personal banking to First National.

Kati Hinch1If I could leave 0 stars I would. I have had the worst experience since the bank has changed over from Home State Bank to Guaranty Bank to Independent Bank. There have been so many changes that we were not informed of. We have been long time patrons (13 years) and I have never been treated so poorly. We were never given cards for our "new" bank account after the change over. I have requested twice now cards to be rushed to us, since we cannot pay our bills without our debit cards, to no avail. I am never greeted politely. Customer service is a ZERO. I will not mention her name but I have had negative experiences with our account manager, she is always very rude and very rushed. You are dealing with consumers money and livelihood. You should take more time out of your day to actually care about the financial state and concerns of your patrons!

K&E Associates4Independent responded and resolved my blocked account quickly, by my local branch, not headquarters. I wish their Customer Service was 24/7, maybe later? I appreciated they tried, and want to improve. Original post: Not customer oriented. After months under the new regime, my Business userid/password was mysteriously not accepted., then locked out. Try to contact online support? not gonna happen until daylight business hours. By that time I will have personally trekked down to the branch and laid bare my anger regarding "customer support" ( nil", and customer satisfaction, also nil). Clearly, "Independence Banking" refers to their corporate view toward their clients. Sucks. Not recommended.

Scott Mikels2I have been a member of this "bank" for over 22 years. It has changed names and owners about 5 times since I opened my account. All branches prior to Independent have been great. But Independent Financial is by far the worst of all of them. As soon as my loan is paid off I am closing all 3 of my accounts and moving on......

Destiny Waterman1***Zero Stars!!** If I could submit a review with zero stars I would. I have been a patron of Home State Bank for 10+ years and have always raved to friends and family about HSB. My experience with HSB has always been positive and given this experience I kept an open mind when Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. took over HSB on November 4th, 2016. However based on my first interaction with Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. this past Saturday, November 12th, I will be looking to transfer my banking needs elsewhere due to poor customer service and inconsistent policies. This past Saturday, November 12th, I drove up to this location expecting to be able to deposit a check within the normal time frame I've been able to complete this transaction in the past with HSB. I was a little surprised when I drove up and saw that there was a line of car much longer than I have ever seen in the past but again with the positive experience I had received in the past with HSB I anticipated that the line would move rather quickly. Unfortunately this was not the case, I sat in line at the drive thru for over 30 minutes waiting to deposit a check, a simple transaction that in the past would be completed in under 5 minutes at this same location. Having to wait in line at a drive thru for over 30 minutes is absurd and poor customer service. Adding salt to the wound of having to wait an unreasonable amount of time to deposit a simple check, I later discovered that day, though a means of a declined transaction, that the funds were not credited to my account. I patiently waited until Monday to call Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. to inquire why the funds were not credited to my account and was informed that funds are not credited to accounts same day. Instead they are credited to the accounts once they have been cleared. The check I had deposited on Saturday will "most likely" be credited to my account on after 7pm on Monday. I'd be willing to accept this policy if it didn't contradict that I was able to withdraw $10 from the same check same day as I deposited it. How is it that I can cash a check same day but that same check would not credit your account same day?

Cameron Dietemann1I highly recommend not using this bank. I was scammed out of a good amount of money. It was a mistake I made and I already felt bad enough about it. When I reached out for help with my account, they not only made me feel like it was all my fault, they also just made it harder to resolve the issue I was dealing with. Also, everything is really slow. Mobile deposits sometimes took up to four days to actually go through, which is extremely annoying. Save yourself the stress and frustration of a pretty bad banking experience, go somewhere else.

Kelly Fox3After a hiccup involving loss of my online banking, Independent Bank was concerned about my earlier review and made good on resolving my access. Still, the individual fixing my access was from my former Home State/ Guaranty Bank, not Independent. Guess we need to kick some butt to get resolution. 3-stars, average, not stellar.

brandon Ferguson1Charged 5.00/day for overdraft of 0.47 in account I only check once/month. I was an avid customer of Home State Bank for the last 15ish years. I travel a ton and have not lived in Fort Collins or in Colorado for 3 years but kept an account with HSB because I loved the service and found them accessible even from afar. The only thing I used my HSB account for was to make one automatic payment per month. Often I would transfer a few months worth of payments into this account at a time and forget about the account. Once in a while the account would overdraw. As I infrequently check this account my checking would be overdrawn for an extended amount of time every once in awhile. In these instances HSB would charge me 5$. If the account was overdrawn for longer than a month they may charge me another 5$. On 11/08/2016 Guaranty Bank took over. My account was overdrawn by 0.47. From 11/08 to today (12/02) when I checked the account they have charged me 5.00 each day so that i now owe Guaranty Bank over 100$ in overdraft fees. As soon as I can make it back to Colorado I will be closing this account.

Nate O'Brien3After a not very great experience with two of the locations in Fort Collins where the notaries were unable to perform a standard task, I was called by a Manager of Customer Service to discuss the problem after writing a negative review. I felt like it was a productive conversation and I appreciated her reaching out to me to address my concerns. Unfortunately this doesn't save me the 25 dollars that I had to spend to get my form notarized somewhere else. I'm hopeful that the notaries at Guaranty will be a bit better informed going forward. Guaranty obviously values it's reputation and I was pleased at the effort put forward by the manager to reach out to me and I genuinely believe that she'll work to make changes. On a positive note, their Tellers are always smiling and very kind.
