      Dealing with Independent Bank is the worst mistake i ever made as a person that enjoy purchasing vehicles. Independent Bank is terrible. I was making 2 notes on 2 different vehicles. They continue to mix it up and charge a late fee. I never been late and have a excellent credit score..TO MAKE A LONGER STORY SHORT DONT DO IT....Please..

      It's rare that I'd give anyone a one-star, but this bank is so awful that I can't wait to refinance elsewhere. $15 convenience fee for online payments in this age is just stupid. They make it near impossible to do anything on your own online, just so you can mail in their payment booklet pages. They even have a $10 fee to set up auto pay, and you even have to mail permission for that too! When I called, the lady was rude and unhelpful. If you buy a vehicle and someone says you got approved with Independent Bank, don't do it. I'd have even taken a higher APR if it meant I could avoid them.

      I would advise people to look elsewhere for automobile financing until Independent Bank changes some of their practices and/or catches up with the times. Not only do they charge an outrageous $15 fee for online or phone payments, they take two or more days to process those payments. Because of their unfair practices and the fact that they never communicated anything with me, I had late fees that I knew nothing about. Had I not called them one day, I never would have known that I had late fees tacked on to my loan. No other company I deal with does or has done this. Every single company I do business with, except this one, manages to process payment instantly and it is reflected in my bank account accordingly. After searching online, I have found that I am not the only person who has the same complaint with this bank. If someone is told to make the payment by a certain date and they do, then it is not their fault that the creditor does not process it for two or more days. Again, no other company I do business with does or has done this to me. I hope someone will contact me about this issue and I hope that they are willing to rectify it because this is a very unfair practice and does not reflect favorably on Independent Bank as a reputable business.

      Customer service is pretty good. $15 payment fee is unusually high as I have great credit and have had many lenders in past and never seen it that high. Late payments are low though. They are highly PARANOID about making sure that you obtain full coverage insurance and making them listed as the lien holder which is also unusual. They send numerous letters, call religiously and even have it on customer service automated recording when u call in Lol Who wouldn’t carry insurance or gap insurance on a financed vehicle to protect themselves is ridiculous and to basically insist that their customers are liers and don’t have it even when they already have the declaration page on the insurance and a long term customer that has always had before so why wouldn’t they know which is why I’m giving them 2 stars

      Purchased a vehicle in Jan 2020, paid my first payment and refinanced the next week. It’s 2020, I am not mailing a paper check every month with no idea of when it will arrive or be posted, and I am for sure not paying a $15.00 fee to pay online every month. Plus, my rate went from 8% to 3.65%. After I read all the reviews, I am so glad I did refinance!

      They charge you a fee to pay your bill on time.Also when you need assistance they never answer the phone.

Or we can draft your checking account automatically. We have been challenged recently with heavy call volumes. We are close to launching some new tools, so that we can be here when you need us.

      My experience with this bank has been wonderful. They always go above and beyond to help me. The staff is always knowledgeable and patient. Most of my family banks with Independent Bank and i like the friendly atmosphere where they know you by name.

      This is the worst car loan company ever! I will never, ever, purchase another car through this company. There are times where customer service is nice but when you call the collection department and ask about a payoff, they are rude to the max. Here is my problem, they are not willing to assist with my understanding on how the monies are applied to the loan. For example, my balance is around $500 and my late fee is $720. I ask if I send $700 for next month, how much is going towards the balance and how much towards the late fee. The reason being is that last month, my balance was $1400 and my late fee around $1600. Therefore, I sent in a $900 plus check and my update says that my balance is around $500 and the late fee is around $700. They are just keep saying we can't give you the info. PISS POOR LIARS!!! They just want me to keep paying their asses. I will not!!! PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE SCAM THEY RUN HERE....PISSED CUSTOMER

      I’ve been business banking with Independent Bank for seven years and the customer service at Poplar near Clark Tower, Poplar near East High, and Union have always provided excellent service. Depositing checks, getting cashiers checks, and free notary service have all been a benefit to my company. A good local professional bank!

      $15 "convenience fee" to pay online is ridiculous. Essentially penalizing people for paying in a method that is quicker and more secure doesn't make a lot of sense for a financial institution. If you have a choice to get auto-financing elsewhere, I'd recommend to do so.
