Huntington Bank Reviews

David Harrington2In order for this review to make sense, I must go back about 3 weeks prior to my experience that is giving them 2 stars. Three weeks ago I had a document that needed a witness for my signature. Not a notary, just a witness. I was at the Huntington in Heath and the banker there signed it no problem. However, it turns out that the form was an old version still on the government organization's website and they send an email requesting an application on the new form. I figured, no problem, I'll shoot up to the branch in Newark on my way to Kroger, do a transaction with the teller. I believe her name is Kelly and she is awesome and I gave an extra star because of her. While there I figured I could get the document witnessed again. I called in advance to make sure I didn't need an appointment but Kelly answered the phone and said anyone at the line could do it. While waiting in a very long line for which I have no problem because sometimes banks are busy, I noticed a person sitting at a desk alone. I asked if she could help me while I was waiting for the teller. She came over and I explained what I needed. She didn't introduce herself or seem very happy to be disturbed. I now think I must have interrupted her web browsing. She looked at the page that needed a signature, then asked for the rest of the document. Now, it is irrelevant what the document was, she just needed to verify that I am the person signing it. After looking at it for a while she first said that I would need a financial advisor. I explained to her that this was just a government document and ALL she is doing is witnessing my signature and nothing else. Now, it's at this point I think I fell down the Rabbit hole with Alice and Alice's elevator does not go all the way up. She says, "I'm not comfortable signing this because this section is not filled out." Now, the section she was referencing is the section that has a place for my name and signature as well as the name, signature, and organization of the person witnessing my signature. So, since I had not prefilled out that portion, she refused to witness my signature. I managed a bank for three years, have over 30 years of leadership experience, and have worked in customer service. I have a high expectation for customer service and even if I had a low expectation, Morgan would have failed to meet it. On the way out I asked if she was the Bank Manager and fortunately she is not because that would be tragic. We are planning on opening an account for my daughter and was given a bankers card two weeks ago when we were there. I came home, looked and it was hers. It quickly went in the trash. If you choose to bank with Huntington and need a banker, do yourself a favor and go to the Heath branch. We have been members since I got stationed her in 2009 but am rethinking who my family uses as a primary bank in this area. If we stay with Huntington, we will not be visiting the Newark branch anymore and certainly nothing that helps Morgan meet the goals set for her.

Andy Durham2Not a fan of Huntington in general, but this branch is particularly agitating. They don't recognize or emulate any sense of urgency that their customers have in needing to get in and out quickly, and they also pride themselves on closing their doors on time every day. God forbid that someone could let a customer in at 4:31 p.m.

scott horning1I called at 4:50pm and someone answered, they close at 5pm (I hated doing this, but was worried) I explained my unusual stuff that was occurring on my online banking and the lady said, “that’s above my pay grade, I will transfer you to someone who can help.” From 4:51pm I was on hold and continued to be on hold for over 17 minutes and nobody answered. Probably time to leave this bank and go with someone who values their customers.

Dawn Guy1It saddens me to even write this review. I have even waited for sometime to create the review because I struggled with making the decision to do so. My husband and I have been customers with Huntington for years, never had any issues with banking here and we continue to bank here. I hope to never experience anything like this again at Huntington Bank. However, we decided about a year ago that we wanted to purchase a new home. That is always exciting and stressful for everyone included in the process. We got approved before we wanted to waste anyone's time at the bank. Once we got the approval we proceeded to set up or try to set up an appointment to speak to someone. We have never done this before of course we had questions. The whole situation took a terrible turn at the 21st location when we had to work with Patrick Stepanovsky. He wanted to complete everything over the phone. He told my husband not to call the office only his cell because they (the office) thinks he does not call people back. HE DOES NOT CALL PEOPLE BACK. We actual still have the voicemail he left telling us not to call him at work. We called and spoke to his boss about his , lets just say not so professional way of doing things, and he called my husband and told him that everything we told his boss was fault. basically called us a liars. Why would we lie about this we are trying to spend tons of money to purchase our first home, we simply needed a person to help us and explain things to us. When we finally got to the point that we could complete the purchase all of the numbers and paperwork was drawn up not matching to anything that we had agreed upon. We hesitated in signing anything. When we mentioned this to Patrick, his response was "Don"t worry about it, it'll be fixed when the time comes that it needs to be". It had gotten to a point with him that we asked to not work with him at all. We didn't have a choice though because he was the only home loan person at the 21st Newark location. Needless to say we ended up working more so with Amanda Hester, Patrick's Assistant, through most of the rest of the purchase. Lets just say Amanda was awesome. We still wish that she was the only one we had to work with the whole time and we could have been very happy never even meeting Patrick. After years of experience with Huntington Bank and the 21st Newark location he just does not fit in well with the staffing that is at this location. They are all so amazing and this really upset us. Give Amanda the position and get him out of there!!! PS. Thank you Amanda we absolutely love our new home.

Apparittia Matthews3I have been with Huntington for several years now and I have stayed with them because I find their policies reasonable and their staff very friendly and willing to help. That was until this morning when the 21st bank manager said very loudly, what my account balance was. Everyone heard and then he started to explain that I couldn't use the temporary atm card I had asked for because the account balance he thought he saw was less than $20. I was shocked that he openly, loudly and rudely addressed me like that, he had not been the one helping me when he interjected nor did he greet me before talking about my money. I had well over $20 in my account and knew very well how the atm worked. Even if I hadn't had the money in my account to use the card he should have been professional and polite. The rest of my experiences with this branch and others have been fine but honestly i can't believe a manager would be so rude.

Harold Ratliff1Love Huntington, but this is the slowest bank in town. Even when there is just two cars ahead of me, I’m still waiting at least twenty minutes to get thru
