Have had a number credit unions accounts in various parts of the country over the years. Never anything even approaching such disputatious and unwelcoming approach ever

Adam Enriquez3Just wanted to share how incredibly hard it is to do business with this bank. Need to send a letter to cancel or close an account? Insane, guessing they are banking on getting fees from the account while waiting for the letter. Would rather bank with any of the big banks over these guys ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Might as well call yourself Chase or Wellsfargo. No different from any other bank. ***Update, they reached out to me and was able to fix the issues. A bit frustrating that it went that far, changing from 1 to 3 stars because they helped me.

Christal Kenyon5I have come in to this branch for many different services. They are always fast and efficient. Significantly better than any other place I have banked with. Jennifer is almost always working when I am there and she is so amazing. She has always been able to help me with little issue. I have even witnessed a customer be extremely rude to her and she was so calm and handled it very well even though she did not deserve to be talked to that way. Wish I could give this branch more stars.

Sofia Drake1My 77 year old grandfather banks here. It's 104 degrees today and he asked me to cash a check for him. The bank is charging me 5$ to cash the check... on his account! That's ridiculous. Not to mention they took his debit card for no apparent reason and issued checks, which are nearly impossible to use out n about.

Sam Winny1Absolutely the worst functioning financial institution in the US. Took days and days to pay off a loan, once paid off and paid extra for overnight FedEx of lien release the release was not sent. Once sent it was sent slow mail and not overnighted. Ruining the sale-ability of my vehicle. Total joke. Don’t bank here.

Susan Jones1UPDATE: I would not even recommend Hughes FCU to anyone. Why? Because the company is stuck in the 20th century - 1950's to where my husband is recognized on our joint accounts, but not myself. We went down to the physical bank to open a joint checking/savings and credit card yet when I call, they need my husband's permission to talk to me. HOLD ON! I am the main bread winner in my home YET I need my HUSBAND'S PERMISSION TO DISCUSS MY ACCOUNT???? THIS IS NOT THE 1950'S THIS IS 2021! WE OPENED THE ACCOUNTS TOGETHER, NOT MY HUSBAND. Go to another credit union that recognizes a couple (besides, Arizona is a community property state). It's a good thing we have other reliable Checking accounts at Chase and Vantage West. They don't give me any hassles. We have JOINT ACCOUNTS!!

Alexa R1This was the most ghetto Hughes I've ever been to in my life(speedway). The teller ladies were so snobby and rude and not helpful what so ever . The one on pantano is a lot nicer & the people are way more friendly!

FCA of AZ5I'm the Executive Director of a small nonprofit and every year we take in hundreds, even thousands of small checks in renewals and donations. Chase was charging us 10 cents per check and our service fees were HUGE! I called lots of financial institutions and found out that Chase was not alone but Hughes does not charge those fees, so I moved all our accounts to Hughes and I am so glad I did! Their service is superlative, their interest rates are about as good as you can get these days and NO SERVICE FEES! When I had to open an estate account when a friend died, I went right to Hughes. Again, no fees, great service and a better than average return. The staff if friendly, helpful and I enjoy going in. Statements are easy to read. Only issue is that they will not give me a debit card for the nonprofit. They say they "don't extend credit to businesses." While a debit card is not a credit card, they still won't do it. Oh, well. I still really like them!

Greg Webz1I'll be honest, I'm not banking with Hughes, but in fact, I've used them many years back for car loans and holiday loan. Always on time payments and eventually every loan was paid off. On the side note, you have to fill out so much paperwork, sign so many agreements that makes you not want to get a loan. Sometimes they'll love screwing you with their auto loan when you forget to renew your auto insurance they'll buy it for you at x5 the price at your expense. Anyways, recently tried to get a loan to consolidate some of my credit cards and I got declined because my credit score was low. Decided to use my vehicle as collateral and it was rejected again lol. I even asked the banker, look at my history, all loans are paid off, but I guess they don't look at that at all. So Hughes, big F you. I won't be using your services anymore.
