Horizon Bank Reviews

Bradley Maguire1Been cashing my check here every week for over a year, giving them a fee each time. Today they told me I wouldn't be able to cash a check because of the amount even though the funds are coming from a horizon commercial account. The best part is they hung up on me at the drive through and sent the carrier back before I could have the account owner verify the check. Branch manager could use some customer service training. You're better off dealing with the call center if you've got questions. Sunny mart had me taken care of without question, for a similar fee, consider them for check cashing services.
Response from the ownerHi Bradley Maguire, we appreciate your feedback. Your concerns about your experience have been shared with our staff and management to ensure we learn from this and make necessary improvements.

Jacob Nash1Originally this was 2 star for a bad review, However, It should be a -10 star. Their website is BAD! But after my initial review instead of reaching out on the platform the looked up my information in the system. WHICH IS TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE. If confidentiality or security is not pillar of your bank you should find another bank!
Response from the ownerJacob Nash, we appreciate your feedback. Please know that confidentially and security is our top priority at Horizon. If you'd like to discuss further about the problems or concerns you have about our website, please reach out to the branch manager at this location, thank you.

Tyris Flare1Less than two months after I signed my mortgage with them I was writing an email letting them know I would be taking my business elsewhere as soon as possible due to multiple issues with their poor customer service. Since I closed on my house on March 11th, I assumed my mortgage for a full month was paid in my closing costs. I never received any bill or note indicating my first payment was due on April 1st. I wasn't able to log in to online banking until April 10th since my loan officer never provided me an loan number. Once I was finally able to create an account, I saw my loan was past due. I called customer service at the Portage office and asked what my options were for payment. I was told I wouldn't be charged a fee since there was a grace period until the 15th, so I made an electronic payment that posted on the 13th. But then I noticed I was still charged a late fee. I called customer service again and this time I was told their grace period only extends to the 10th of the month. They offered no apologies and took absolutely no responsibility for their employee's actions who gave me misinformation the first time. Had I been given the correct date when I called on the 10th, I would have drove to the branch and made a payment that day, so the late fee was 100% a result of being told false information by the employee. And they refused to refund the fee. After all this, I made another payment prior to the May 1st due date. Only after checking my online account again did I notice that the total amount changed and my payment was short. I had no way of knowing the amount changed since they still had yet to send me a bill. I don't recommend this bank to anyone for any service, but especially not a mortgage. And I'm about to keep my promise to them. In just a couple months I will pay off my mortgage after just three and a half years with them. They will have lost about $32,000 in interest over a 30-year loan. I hope that late fee was worth it.
