HomeStreet Bank Reviews

Allen Hardy5This is a wonderful bank! How often does one hear that about banks these days? The people are not only friendly, they are downright helpful. And they actually offer real interest on deposits! My family has banked in Point Loma at various banks for years, and I recently had occasion to transfer funds out of the estates of deceased family members at several of these branches. This made an interesting comparison of the sort one doesn't find in Consumer Reports--but it was real. I won't discuss Wells Fargo, except to mention it deserves its recent headlines. The Chase branch on Rosecrans was probably the worst, in that had various ways of holding onto funds in contravention of a court order, while offering effectively zero interest in their "Premier Savings" account; Union Bank was friendly, but not knowledgeable, and--again--offered almost no interest. Home Street Bank is the winner!

Sarah V5I came across this Bank needing a one time transaction; as soon as I entered the door I was greeted by the tellers with one of them verbal greeting the others are eye contact I felt welcomed :) I also noticed the instant coffee maker and cookies by the reception (scored). At this point I feel like the HOMESTREET bank name stands up for what it is: HOME felt at home because of their interactions with me, the STREET being that the bank is accessible on the main street.

Bob Caldwell4A small-bank feel; very personal service, and great people. They actually WANT to get to know you. The fly-in-the-ointment for me was that they fired their investments guy, and didn't tell me until a week later. Would liked to know sooner, and from my local people, not the boss in Seattle. Otherwise, I would highly recommend these folks as a bank. Jury still out on the investment side.
