  My Mortgage Broker Ben Murphy, owner of Shelter Island Capital in San Diego is by far the best Mortgage Lender you will ever find. Shelter Island Capital is located on Canon Street in Point Loma, CA and couldn't be more conveniently located. You can easily park and run into his office and find him there at most times. Ben saved my multi legged 1031 exchange. Ben Murphy had my approval to me in 24 hours and had my Closing Disclosure to my inbox in 48 hours. He paid attention to every detail including making sure to adjust the mortgage amount so that my earnest money deposit could be returned to me in escrow as I requested. Ben's assistant Linda is truly on track the entire escrow making it possible to get information and or changes done at anytime even if Ben is with other clients. If your Mortgage Broker choice is Ben Murphy with Shelter Island Capital you will not be disappointed!!! Thank you Ben!!

  I've worked with Ben at Shelter Island three times now. He did our first mortgage and two refis. Each time, we chose him because he gave us the best deal. Paperwork is a real hassle for me, and he does most of the work and makes it so easy. From start to finish, i found the entire process with Ben way easier than working Bank of America on their mortgage process. I may not be good with paperwork, but I am a real stickler when it comes to number crunching and finding the best deal. I asked Ben to do a lot of extra work with me to compare mortgages and he was very responsive, understanding and helpful. My last refi was very spontaneous. I wasn't really looking to refi, but rates were so low and Chase sent as on offer for a no-fee refi that dropped our rate by more than half a point. It seemed like a no-brainer to take the Chase deal. But then I mentioned the offer from Chase to Ben, and he beat the deal. He got us down basically a full point and credited most of the fees so that the cost to refi was nominal. We ended up saving so much money, that we could pull out enough cash for a kitchen and bath remodel, and our monthly 15-year mortgage payment largely stayed the same as before the refi.

  Ben helped us secure financing for our first home back in 2015 and he was very easy to work with. We didn't want to put 20% down but also didn't want to pay PMI and Ben came up with the perfect solution for us. Just last month Ben helped us with a cash out refinance and again the process was super easy. Ben was responsive to our queries (more so than me!) and got us closed very quickly. The notary, Deven Patrick, that came to our house for the final document signing was very knowledgeable regarding the loan process and was great to work with.   I've worked with at least a dozen lenders in my life and Ben Murphey at Shelter Island Capital was the best experience I've ever had. The rate and fees were low and the process was so much easier. He also went out of his way to find us a better deal on insurance and sent a notary to our house. Again, so much easier than I would have ever expected, and through it all, Ben is a really good person.
