  We are first time homebuyers who know nothing about the process involved. We had reached out to Lund Mortgage first and they basically told us we did not have enough money for them to spend time with us. We then contacted Amber K with Guild. We were impressed with her willingness to bring us in and sit with us and review what was possible with the funds that we had. We ultimately felt that we should not move forward at that time. Fast forward about 12 months and we find ourselves in a situation where we need to find somewhere else to live. We don't know what to do other than reach out to Amber. Her team requested some updated information and Amber met with us over Zoom to explain where we were at. This is where we felt the problems started. Amber came across as very much wanting to sell us something at the highest possible price. I know she essentially sells debt for a living, but it just seemed very overt and rubbed us the wrong way. We then had some questions pop up that we genuinely did not know how to find answers to. The overwhelming feeling was that the Kovarik team was just too busy to handle us. We did not know who to go to as there had been several different team members who had contacted us previously. We were just lost. We would have sought out a different lender, but we truly did not know that was an option. When we felt ready to make an offer on a property we learned that interest rates had increased significantly. Amber deflected by saying she has no control over this. She did not attempt to explain that the type of property we were looking at commanded a different type of loan and interest rate. After having an accepted offer we learned that they type of loan that we chose required an online course that would cost an additional $75. The issue is that none of this was communicated to us before this point. We were never given different options of loans to choose from. We were always told that things are how they are and Guild Mortgage has no control over them. I simply feel this cannot be true. There needs to be someone who can be assigned to communicate with clients, especially first time homebuyers. There were too many inflections points where we could have been communicated to but were instead ignored. I am truly sad that Guild Mortgage will have any financial benefit on my behalf. They made this process stressful.
