Quin Brown5Worked with Esmira from HPCU for the first time this week for a vehicle lien. Very customer service oriented and made the process straight forward and easy. Anyone looking for a good local credit union should try HPCU

K S1Minor edit: DTCU has become 'HPCU' - I left this bank before this change, and can't speak to the quality of the 'new' bank. If it's simply a rebranding with no real change, then this place is still 1/5 stars. They'll need to reply directly and outline any changes they've made. Until then I'll assume they're still awful. Long story short: DTCU inhibits your ability to spend money, their staff are often rude, and their policies are overzealous. If you want inconvenience, DTCU is your bank. ---- I initially went with DTCU because my Grandparents were long standing members. They setup an account for me in their name while I was a child and poured some savings in for my college education; which is something I've aimed to do with my children. Despite this, I can no longer bank with DTCU. Here are a few examples of why.. Surprisingly I'm leaving a lot of stuff out. While applying for a mortgage I was given unfair rates and a relatively low credit amount, despite having great credit, and several fully paid loans with the bank. Other banks gave me good rates and a significantly higher limit. I went with a different provider. Going out of state/country on vacations, having all of my purchases declined despite calling them and telling them in advance. Getting my card activated again took 3 days in one instance, leaving me stranded without a rental car and all of my luggage.. Randomly having my debit card cancelled without being contacted, thus causing all of my existing automatic bill payments to fail.. Utilities, mortgage, student loans, etc.. Despite all of my gripes, the biggest issue comes from attempting to spend my money. While security is a high priority, I feel stifled while trying to make non-stanard purchases. There have been numerous instances where I try to buy something, only to be told I can't and that I need to wait for a managers approval. The few times that I was able to make these purchases, my card is always declined several times before actually going through because of the staff taking hours to remove any restrictions. This is not only embarrassing, but really inconvenient for presumably all parties.. The most recent instance of this is what finally went too far for me.. I'm currently remodeling my kitchen, coincidentally I just had a new son who was born at 28 weeks (he's doing great), and although he's still in the hospital, he will be coming home any day now. The only reason I planned this kitchen remodel was because I expected to have it finished long before his due date. Most of the framework/rebuild is done, but I'm at a point right now where it's absolutely imperative that I get the cabinets/appliances ordered so we actually have a functioning kitchen before the baby comes home. We've already been put off for over a week because of DTCU restrictions, the cabinets take 2 weeks to ship, so now our newborn will likely come home and be exposed to construction noises.. Edit: the baby came home the same day my cabinets arrived... A literal worst case scenario that would have been avoided if DTCU didn't stop me from buying them when I told them I wanted to. The worst part about this instance is that I knew about the spending restrictions, so I call into DTCU to get the limit temporarily removed a day in advance. It was still declined, and I was told I couldn't make the purchase over the weekend, and to call back on Monday. On Monday they raised my limit, but they were only raising the limit to the exact amount and promptly putting my account on a 24 hour hold afterwards.. I went to buy the cabinets, and the purchase was STILL declined. In the end, I couldn't buy them using my debit card, and I needed to go to the bank and pull $4000 in cash, which took, two trips/days, because they told me I could only withdraw $2,500 at a time. This actually cost me several hundred dollars in rebate savings because the sale ended.

Alex Cahoon1Horrible customer service, whenever I called or went in the tellers seemed to be confused and not know what they were doing in the slightest. The instant there is an overdraft you will get charged $30 even if funds are added that day. The only reason I still have an acount is because they have good interest rates for loans. They really dont seem to care about there account holders at all.
