Happy Money Reviews

Jack S5First and foremost, this is not for everybody. This company requires pretty good credit to begin with. Even then, it still may not be the way to go. For the convenience of one payment with a lower interest rate, you still pay quite a bit in fees. I decided to go with it, and got a loan with them to pay down credit cards. I have four months left of a 24 month loan, with a pretty hefty monthly payment. It has been a huge success for me, since I have maintained credit card usage below 1%. Again, it requires a lot of work to do this, so make sure you have a good plan in place, even if you are a super prime borrower. If so, this is a fantastic option.
Response from the ownerHi Jack, thank you for the review! 🙌 Our mission is to deliver affordable, accessible financial tools and services that empower people to use money as a tool for their happiness!

Chelsea Sickel1Zero stars if I was able. Very little transparency about how they apply payments to the principle balance and accrue interest. Despite making extra payments each month to pay down the loan early, I will still end up paying half my initial loan amount in just interest. So despite being promised a 20% interest and APR it will work out closer to 50% by their warped and hidden calculations. Do not take out a loan from this shady company!!!!

James Sweeney5My actual rating is 0, Happy Money is not allowing low reviews to be posted, so I cheated. I called Happy Money to try to re-negotiate my personal loan at a lower rate. They refused to even consider it. So, I got a much lower rate 6.7% vs. 9.0%. from Marcus. After I paid of the entirety of my Happy Money loan, they closed out my account on 2/3 Reporting Agencies with $0 Balance. Then, out of the blue, I had a balance of $40, on Transunion. I called their rude, unprofessional call Center in Tustin, CA. No help. Happy Money does this after the fact $$$$$ grab to Customers who complain about their rude employees. Stay away from this fraudulent enterprise. Millennial immaturity at its lowest possible level.
Response from the ownerHi James – We're sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Please contact us at [email protected], so we can look further into this issue.

Jas L1I had a loan from Happy Money and paid it off roughly two years ago. Obtaining the loan at that time was not difficult however if I wanted make an additional payment outside of my monthly obligation I had to mail in a check which I think is absurd. Nonetheless, I recently decided to reapply for another debt consolidation loan and was denied because I already have an installment loan with another vendor. I don't even know what that has to do with their decision especially if I have good credit and make twice as much as I used to when I got the first loan. I was also preapproved then denied my application after further review. Most often when I have been preapproved, I get the loan. Now Happy Money has "dinged" my credit report and potentially score as well. I'm not going to bother to apply here again in the future.

Tim Wolfe1This company has been radically misapplying my payments for the past year, resulting in a loan which only has a total amount of $7000 of finance charges, over 15000 has been applied to interest so far, underpaying my principal by over $8000. Upon requesting to speak with management, i received no call back- ever. Payment review ended with payment team unapplying 3 of my payments that have now been missing for 3 weeks. Engineering team escalation over 10 days ago, still no response. In the mean time, I am getting collection calls and credit threats from their collections team, despite all these issues being known and completely their fault. BBB complaint filed 3 weeks ago, still no response. STAY FAR FAR AWAY
Response from the ownerHi, Tim – Thank you for your patience. Our team has corrected this issue, and they are also responding to your BBB inquiry today.

Jaseem Ismayil1I think its a fraud service in India. They initially asked INR 5000 to check my repayment ability and I transferred the amount to their bank account, In next few minutes they replied that there is an issue on my bank side and asked INR 25,000 to solve the bank issue, I had no other choice but to send the money which I borrowed from someone else, and then there was no reply from their side and I tried 3 days to get a manager online and now they are asking for more money (INR 5000) to get my money back. I suggest everyone who reads this review to never try borrowing from Payoff by Happy Money at least in INDIA. Terribly worried about this SCAM.

Andrew Burns1I took out a 19K debt consolidation loan. I made every payment on-time. I paid off my loan 7 months early -- and even received a "Congratulations" email indicating the loan was paid off. Then they put a derogatory mark on my credit that I owe them $12. WHAT?! I did all that all just to get my credit dinged. Now I need to go through the process to get whatever this $12 charge is removed from my credit report. I will not use them again nor recommend them to anyone.
Response from the ownerHi, Andrew – We're sorry to hear your experience this far has not been exactly what you were hoping for. Please send us your best contact information to [email protected], and our team will be in touch. Thank you.
