Great Western Bank Reviews

Lance “The Goosh” Gushwa1So far this merger has been a nightmare. Can't access our online account info and been on hold a half hour as i write this. I loved great western, but now seeing this bank is headquartered in California and owned by Wells Fargo has led us to look for a bank that is local and will fit our needs better. Keeping our money and savings far away from both. I am sure the bank personel in town is still pleasant to work with and the merger isn't any of their fault. But I wouldn't recomend business with this merger bank.
Response from the ownerHi Lance, We are currently experiencing high call volumes. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and appreciate your patience. First Interstate is not owned by Wells Fargo and is headquartered in Billings, Montana with a strong community presence in Sioux Falls. We are glad to report you'll continue to enjoy personalized service from the bankers you've come to know and trust. We hope we are given the chance to get to know you better and grow together as your trusted financial partner.

Barbara1Horrible bank! I hate the app I always have issues with it. It never shows accurate info. Usually once I get paid and pay several bills I'll log into account and it'll show that I have a lot more money in my account than I actually do! They want their customers to get overdraft fees with issues like that. Now with this merger with FIB I can no longer use the app to access my account. Just as soon as I can I'll be closing my account and going to a REAL bank!
Response from the ownerWe apologize for the access issues you’ve been experiencing. Today is the first day our combined institutions are doing business as one organization, and we’ve been working to address client questions as quickly as possible. Before you leave, please consider connecting with your local banker for more information and discussion. We believe you will find our two institutions and service models are more alike than we are different.

Ralf Theelen1I'm from Germany and I want to make a complain against the staff because of uncovered fraud. No e-mail address an no person is relevant for that. Nice to hear from you. My name is 'Ralf Theelen, Germany. I have an online account without an access.Everything else after getting a name of a relevant banker of the management board. It would be better to inform the prosecutor.

Channing Bartels5Have had no problems with this bank. Usually have Robin as my bank teller and she's a gem. Very kind, and patient, always leave with a smile when dealing with her at GWB.
Response from the ownerThank you for the kind words Channing!

Beth1I was a Home Federal Customer for 15 years. Since Home Federal was bought out by Great Western, I have had nothing but problems. I could go on all day about these problems. However, the most recent issue at this location is: the teller told me I can't get cash from a check but I can use the ATM. So I had to drive all the way around back in and use the ATM to get cash. I left my debit card there; my mistake. It went back into the machine. That was almost three weeks ago. I have been to the bank 6 times and called 3 times for my debit card (when is says "leave a message and we will call you back," they don't). Oh and the first teller told me they would call me. Now they tell me that because the card was in the machine for over two weeks it was shredded. I have tried to get that card 10 times now and they shredded it and said "well we have ordered you a new one." Forget it!!!! See you on my lunch break when I come close my accounts! I would not recommend this bank to anyone.

Ryan Anderson5Kyle Kunde has been great to work with. GWB is a great bank to work with. They are small enough where you get great service and they don't charge you to death with fees, and they are big enough where they can do almost anything you need.

Robert Herron3I prefer another. There are better banks out there.

Nicholas Olson5Did our home mortgage through them (Chris Knight was great) and I would much rather bank through them than the giant banks. Everyone is so nice when I come in. Way better experience.
Response from the ownerThank you for the kind words Nicholas!
