I am really not sure why GM financial has been so slandered on this review site. This is the 4th vechicle we have leased from GM we have had nothing but AMAZING service from them!! Even when COVID hit we called and asked if we could get some help from them making our lease payments and it was APPROVED while we were on the phone! Thank you to all that work here GREAT JOB!!!

GM is the worst company I have ever experienced. They do not even deserve one star rating. Back in 2010, my aging father signed a 3 year lease on a Malibu for my mom. One year later my mom died of cancer. When my father tried to return the car and ask to break the lease , given the circumstances, GM told my father that since my mom’s name was not on the lease and there is still 2 years left on the lease, my dad would have to come up with $4,000.00 to give to GM in order to turn in the car. My father was very distressed, and I will never forget this. It just so happened at this time, that my car at the time was paid off and getting too old to drive- I was in the right position to sell my old car and take over my dad’s lease so he didn’t get stuck with two cars or being forced to cough up $4,000.00 – which by the way- GM has a lot of nerve forcing a customer to pay that much money on a car that HE DIDN’T OWN. GM was completely cold and callous about the whole issue. If I already had a new car back when this happened- my father would be in financial ruin if I was unable to take over that lease- the situation would have been so much worse for him. You have NO IDEA the added stress GM brought on my 75 year-old grieving father. After all this, my husband leased a new Malibu is 2016- big mistake- we completed the full lease and made every single payment. My husband turns it into the dealership when the lease was up- Bob Johnson signs off on it as being in good condition- PLUS, we were under mileage by quite a bit. Dealership said we were all set - but we did not re-lease another car. Because of this, GM hit us with a $350 bill MONTHS later- saying that the fee was for NOT leasing another car - because of that WE have to pay their auction fee for GM to re-lease the car. THEN, GM hit our credit report over that $350. After all this, I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau. Also, my family (mom, dad, sister, husband) had leased several cars from GM over the past 20 years- ALWAYS paid on time - and this is how they treat their long standing customers. This company will NEVER do "what is right" for their customers. GM will stick to their "policies" that are intentionally designed to gouge you for more money. They do not care at all. DO NOT- I REPEAT- DO NOT EVER LEASE THROUGH GM - YOU WILL REGRET IT- NO MATTER IF YOU COMPLETE THE LEASE AND PAY ON TIME- GM will find a way to gouge more money out of you. This company should be investigated for fraud.

Should have read these reviews before leasing. Made all necessary payments. GM Financial mis-allocated my property tax payments and my entire account has been in disarray for roughly 6 months. Received notice I was 30 days late on a payment and owed 0.00 dollars?? Long story short after many many phone calls and emails and disconnected phone calls gmfinancial supplied a delinquency notice to the credit bureau for the month of June which I received zero notice for. Big company gets to trash on the little guy and at this point I have little recourse other than due diligence. Really hope they will fix it because sadly I do like the car but I’m not going through this again.

Unbelievable how terrible this operates. After dinging mine and my cosigners credit several times because they kept telling us we were current on payment and the autopay was saying we were delinquent. We finally turn in the last of the 3 or maybe 4 vehicles I had purchased from them only to be informed 5 months later we owe $507 with no explanation why! Then of course another credit score report decrease when customer service cant tell us why we owe that amount! Finally an explanation was sent a month later stating the difference of the vehicles value is lower than what we paid. I have been borrowing money for vehicles and homes for many years now this company has ruined my credit for simply trying to pay them back and believing they would work it out with the dealership where we purchased the next vehicle who said they paid them out!

The worst Auto Loan company I have ever dealt with. I refinanced my loan solely because the service is terrible. Customer service was rude and professional. GM kept chatging extra fees and my balance kept growing bigger . They dont want to send me an bill in the mail . They told me something they do and dont do it . Their interests are very poor. Glad I'm rid of them. Never ever again . I advise anyone thinking financing with them to think twice. Got a great company that refinanced me saved more than $2000. My interest dropped severly . Try Openroad lending you wont be sorry.

On 5/22/15, I entered into a Lease with GM Financial for a 2015 Equinox. I received the bill for June, paid online, and enrolled in Auto Pay. On 7/21/15 I logged into my account to see if AutoPay had taken effect or if I needed to pay the bill and saw a 0.00 balance due. When I spoke to a rep, they stated I was enrolled in AutoPay and that no balance was due. Each month, the payment was auto deducted from my checking account on time. I logged into my account June 2018 to plan for the end of lease, to my surprise, I owed $624+ in late payment fees. I immediately contacted customer support via live chat. I explained that I was NEVER notified of a late payment via a paper statement, email, or telephone call. I stated to the rep, that I could not access statements online - which she told me, because I was on Auto Pay, GM does not post statements online for auto-pay accounts. Therefore I had no paper statements and no online statements - how was I supposed to know I owed late fees? There are so many reports on line about other customer's payments which were never late, 0.00 bills, assessed late fees, and impacts to credit scores. How is GM getting away with this?

Legal refuses to help with getting your name off a car loan even when you have court documents signed by a judge to do so.

End of Lease was months ago and charges continue to be added to my account. Have spoked to over 30 representatives who have given me different balances and no one can tell me what the charges include. Hav spent HOURS trying to come to a resolution and cannot get one person to help me close out this account. It is amazing how dysfunctional this company's accounting system is! Why does every rep see something different every time I call? So frustrating.

      Response from the owner

I see I am not the only one that has this problem. They do not work with you. I had to retire for medical reasons and missed 2 payments and told them I was waiting on my disability to start. Since then I have been making my payments. They refuse to defer those payments or change my payment date so every month my payments are considered late. They call me 3x a day and even when I make a payment they continue to call about the 2 payments. They want me to send money for those payments and I told them I could sent 50 extra to try and make those payments up but they have a problem with that.. I hate that I got involved with this company.

      Response from the owner

Hi, Linda. We appreciate you reaching out to us here, and we want to make this right. Please email the name and ZIP on your account to [email protected] so our Social Care team can work with you.

They do not even deserve one star. They have lost my insurance check for hail damage- over $3400 dollars and the insurance says it was deposited by GM Financial and have provided me with proof. And now GM Financial has no records of the check or the money posted to our account. ABSOLUTE WORST!! I will never lease or fiance another vehicle with them.

      Response from the owner

Katelyn, thank you for reaching out here! We’re sorry to hear about your hail damage and this frustrating situation. Our Social Care team would like to make it right. Please email the name and ZIP on your account to [email protected].
