Generations Federal Credit Union Reviews

MG1After my father's passing I went to withdrawal his remaining funds to pay for his funeral. They said I would need to have the death certificate. So I tearfully went to the funeral home to pick that up and came back to the bank. During that time frame they immediately transferred all of his money to a loan he had with them. How inconsiderate of this bank to only care about their situation first. To top it off they still send requests for the remaining balance. Never will I ever do business or refer them to anyone! No need for a reply on your rules and procedures. Anything you say will not make up for what our family had to go through in our time of need. No compassion what so ever.

Luciano Maldonado1This branch is excellent at greeting customers however they lack basic banking knowledge. They struggle to find solutions to your financial needs as it relates to loans and business accounts. Beware of the rude teller. She's greets everyone loud and sarcastically.

Juliette Mares5Drive-thru is excellent does take some time. They do need to hire more employees. They need to change their ATM so you can make deposits at the ATM machine instead of waiting at the drive-thru are waiting in line inside the bank.

lifestyler20053I should have waited until after the pandemic. Today I went to an appointment to open an account. The employees I met appeared nice; the branch manager, Zoe, appeared to be genuinely concerned for my business. Thank you, Zoe! I wanted to open an account at Generations because I liked the products offered and three of their locations. After being unable to open an account online, I made an appointment to do it in-person. I got there and had to stand outside in 95 degree heat, 107 real-feel according to my app, for several minutes instead of going inside LIKE AN APPOINTMENT. I saw one employee leave and go back inside without a mask while I was wearing one baking under the sun. I decided while standing outside to only do business with places that have lobby access. Chase on San Pedro has an open lobby with no appointment needed! They take precautions to keep everyone safe, and I always feel comfortable while inside. They make everyone social distance, have the tellers behind glass barriers, and provide sanitizer. I declined to open the account as it didn't make sense to give my business to a place that would make an in-person appointment only to have a new customer wait in the heat. I would have opened the account if I had waited until after the pandemic when things should be back to normal. Banks have lobbies for a reason.
Response from the ownerThank you for your feedback about your experience at our Balcones Heights location. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with your in-person appointment, and we would like the opportunity to speak with you. Will you please email us at [email protected] with your contact details so that a team member can follow up with you directly about this issue? We look forward to speaking with you.

Evening Perales1Not enough atm to withdrawal your own money from. You will get charged a fee from the bank and the atm fee. I called about which location I could use and the lady didn’t even try to help. She told me to look online. But I have yet to find a place to withdrawal without being charged. The only close location to me was the Generations on Wurzbach inside the HeB but that’s been closed for a while. So I have to drive far to get anything done. Unfortunately, I’ve had so many issues and hope to move soon. I asked about a charge on my account and the teller was rude and unprofessional. If you call the call center they take forever to answer. I used to like my bank but it seems like I’m being charged more to keep them. Please don’t respond with please call us. I have and nothing is every fixed.

Aston Garcia1I deposited a check with smart deposit on the app. My checks always used to go through and have my money within 30 minutes on the app. Yesterday I deposited my check and nothing, I call customer service this morning to see what's going on and I have a hold on my little $600 check for no reason. I was told they dont know when it will be released and there is nothing I can do. They can't reject the check so I can cash it else where. I'm extremely upset that my appointments and plans will have to be cancelled due to this.

Naomi Gutierrez1Needed to pull money out of my savings account and the Lobby is closed and it’s 12:29 (noon time). I don’t understand why the lady allowed an older gentleman to go in the lobby though. Very unfair and I now have to drive to a further location to pull out money because I can’t do it through the drive-through because it’s a shared branch account.
Response from the ownerHi Naomi, We apologize for any inconvenience that our branch lobby closure has caused you. Our branch lobbies are currently closed for the health and safety of our members and staff due to the recent rise of COVID-19 cases in our community, but we are still seeing members by appointment only when a lobby transaction is necessary. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call 210-229-1128. You can also see a full list of our locations and hours on our website at www.MyGenFCU.org/Locations.

Duncan McCoy4I don't know or understand the complaints. I have never experienced any problems. Covid protocol has to be utilized. As far as transactions go thru the drive through, things happen, be patient. No worse than a pharmacy drive up.
Response from the ownerThank you for your membership, Duncan!

Bright Sunshine1If someone does more than 1 transaction in a drive thru. It should be made they need to get off and go inside. They hold up all the customers and you get stuck in line behind people who wanna do several transactions at once. No lies. 2 .5 hours stuck in a line.

Belinda Covarrubias1I would first like to say DONT waste your time and hard earned money with these crooks. I got charged overdrawn fees on something I had enough to cover nevermind that I took off the privilege pay . The whole purpose of taking it off was so that I wouldn't get additional charges. Guess what it dosen't work they still charged me. There online tool is slow and outdated the bank employee said that it sometimes dosent work. They are rude inexperienced and are not on your side. The representative the helped me keept looking at the her watch and I felt like she was distracted from the conversation. The manager kept saying the same thing over and over but really had no knowledge on what she was taking about kept going back and forth. Save yourself a headache and money and never bank with this fraudulent institution ps. Go to Randolph Brooks federal credit union where they actually give credit loans better service more experienced people more locations just better in every single way.
Response from the ownerThank you for your feedback, Belinda. We understand you have been in contact with our staff as they have tried to assist you in resolving this matter. Please contact our VP of Branch Operations, Kim Schaefer, at 210-230-9392 if you need further assistance.
