  I have been a First Republic Bank customer for over 20 years. They have outstanding service and respect for customers. If you go to the branch, you will immediately see this is not your typical bank. Rarely a line, comfortable environment, and quick service. I just did a refinancing with them and the responsiveness and efficiency was so much better than mortgage brokers (tried them) or megabanks (tried them too). Give them a look and see for yourself.

  Would give them negative stars if I could. Very inflexible, unfriendly and condescending staff, at least during the weekend at this branch. I had a very bad experience with using their CD products, and their assistant manager kept berating me for not understanding their terms, when I had been given wrong information by a different person. Would suggest using a different branch, or just avoid this bank altogether.

  I switched to FRB after being a citibank customer for over 20+ years because I hate citi now. But 1st republic has been great so far. I've been a customer for about 6 months now. No junk mail, no spam in my inbox. This bank is truly atm fee free. Unlike others who don't really have no fee atms, 1st republic actually is totally fee free. They don't pass through anything. No atm usage fee, no out of network atm fees, no foreign conversion fee, no access fees and whatever else fees they make up (I'm looking at you citibank). FRB's website is as secure as I would hope a bank to be. A sign of a bank whose security I don't trust is one whose websites are full of bugs, broken links, never scrutinizes your ip address and a page full of useless clutter (still looking at you citi).

  First Republic Bank is a premier bank. The people who work for this bank really know what customer service is about. I would recommend either the San Mateo branch or the one in Burlingame. This is a bank who treats their customers well.

  Nice bank, the staff know how to offer good customer service. It is kind of a unique bank in that regard.

  Didn't have a good experience at this branch, found the staff unhelpful. I typically don't write negative reviews but really didn't enjoy the service at least at this branch.
