First Priority Credit Union Reviews

Stacey Phillips1I banked with them for over 20 years, along with my parents and children, but their service has steadily declined over the past few years. In April 2021 a friend’s stimulus check was set to be deposited into my account. My friend and I went to the credit union beforehand to see if I needed to add him onto my account and we were told no, it wasn’t necessary. Every day leading up to the day the deposit was expected, it showed as pending online. The day finally came when it should’ve been deposited and I was told it was returned because his name wasn’t on my account. I reminded them that we had just came there in person to ask about that and were told it wasn’t necessary. They said “Well things changed after that and we were instructed to return them if the name wasn’t on the account.” So fine. We are told the check has been returned to the IRS and we need to deal with them. After months of trying to get through to the IRS during tax season, I finally succeeded in reaching a human and was told the Credit Union never returned the stimulus check. So I called Lisa and after a long hold on the phone, she returned to tell me she found it “stuck in the system” along with many other peoples’ checks. They led my friend to believe his $1400 was there right up until the day he should’ve received it, then kept it for months, and then just said “Oh whoops! Here it is.” This is an extremely unprofessional staff of snide women who seem lazy and unqualified. Marissa was the only employee who cared about customers and she quit—no longer works there. Sometimes things are done one way, sometimes another way—there is no rhyme or reason and if it ends up having a negative effect on you they couldn’t care less. They don’t even value customers who have banked with them for decades. Do yourself a favor and bank elsewhere.
Response from the ownerStacey, we are sorry that you were not able to receive the check into your account for your friend. Please know that just prior time that the electronic deposit was received, it had been recommended to us by the Fraud Division of the Abilene Police Department to refuse such deposits. Again, we are sorry that the sudden change in policy caused you an inconvenience.

David Al-shoufi5They honor their own checks! Most places will not cash a check for a non account holder without penalizing them with a fee. This place does and I like that! 2 thumbs up from me, keep up the good work! 😀
Response from the ownerDavid, thanks for the kind words. We try to treat people right, member or not.
