First Midwest Bank Reviews

Patricia Cottingham5I had an awesome experience with my mortgage loan officer Steve at First Midwest Bank. He helped me through the entire process. If I had questions, he returned my calls promptly and was always pleasant. I have been banking with FMW with no complaints for about 10 years.

Steve S4I see a lot of negative reviews here. I've banked with FMB for many years and have had little to no issues. Mortgage and HELOC processing has been smooth. Only issue is they lack some features of bigger national banks, but for me not a huge issue.

Julie Davis5A customer service representative named Loraina (sp?), just helped my elderly mother negotiate her bank account. She was excellent and let my mom get a full chat out of her :) Really nice lady, wish there were more people out there like her.

Jim Scott1Terrible customer service, slow deposit processing. They process debits before deposits in hopes they can overdraw you and charge you the overdraft fee. I used to be a NorStates customer for 15 yrs with only a couple of issues. Since the merger it's been nearly nothing but problems. I also have a Chase Bank account. Excellent customer service! I will be closing my account with First Midwest and do ALL my banking with Chase! Update: closed the account.

Dev Mag1"First Worst Bank" - The worst bank on the face of the Earth. Not sure how this bank gets an average rating of 2. Not possible unless its employees are here providing positive review. It took 3 months to close a loan after some 50+ follow-ups with loan officer. The lock had long expired and they tried to charge me extra fee for their mistake of letting lock expire.

Sue M5The ONLY branch that is wonderful! Super friendly and helpful. I feel like they care when I talk to anyone at this branch.

Mt Dew Dad5Love this bank. The extra mile they go by offering financial planning, at NO COST, is a great benefit! These people have really helped our family. Just wish they had more branches.

Brian Pendleton1Extremely unhelpful and bizarre policies. I simply needed to know if First Midwest had put a title in the mail to my company or not? Was put on hold for 10 minutes, after going through the automated system, and two transfers to other departments... Then was told they could not tell me if they put something in the mail to my company, without me providing them with my customer's social security number???.... Unreal.

Jim LoMonaco1First Midwest has grown too large to service their communities and customers appropriately. Business and personal banking both fail to live up to basic expectations. They do not care about small business in any regard. Their bill pay service has failed me on multiple occasions leaving me with late fees and awkward phone calls. Fees are excessive. Moving my business and personal accounts to ALEC in Gurnee. They have proven they care about the communities they serve.
