So I’ve been coming to this bank for 11 years, I’m a bartender so every time i deposit, it’s a large lump sum of cash. I always have issues with this branch, even though I’ve been a member for 11 years. I have utilized every service fairwinds has had to offer. Recently I’ve been discriminated against because their employees don’t “feel” like don’t certain transactions. My precious deposit took 35 minutes in the drive through for counting 3k in large bills, i am in the only one in the drive through in this moment. Now my transaction today, the manager tells me he cannot give me a receipt of deposit, when every other fairwinds branch has and will give me this. His name is Eric and is incredibly rude and assumes his own rules apparently. Obviously incapable of his position, considering who would trust a bank that does any of this. I’ll be emptying my accounts and going to my other bank from henceforth. Terribly sad since i built this relationship and hoped to secure my home loan with them.

UPDATE: June 21, 2022 Visited again today. Looks like Fairwinds at this location is open for business! Lobby is open, help desk is staffed. Two teller stations open as well as the drive-thru. Responsive to our needs. Got into our safety deposit box in short order. Friendly staff members! BEWARE! The lobby closes at 4:00 pm Monday - Thursday! So if you’re attempting to conduct face-to-face business or access your safe deposit box, get there before they close! Went there this morning to access our safe deposit box and SURPRISE! The lobby was closed without any advanced notice! So we wasted $4.00 per gallon gas and have to make another trip! Not the most friendly CU to conduct business. Update: Thursday April 21, 2022. Returned to this location to access our safety deposit box and make a cash deposit. Once again the sign stated the lobby was closed! This time we rang the “doorbell” and a young lady came to the door. We explained that we need to access our box. She stated that they were understaffed and we would have to wait outside. Then another staff member came to the door (Kelly) who asked what we needed. We told her “Eric” told us to ring the doorbell and someone would help us. Kelly did let us in and she apologized for the inconvenience and wait explaining that the office was understaffed and it was difficult to hire people. She accommodated our need to access our box and she personally made the deposit. For Kelly’s personal service we’ll add a star. However, this location is directly across the street from the Fairwinds main office building. It’s hard to believe that some of those staff, managers, exec’s, are not capable of staffing this location! It may be a matter of economics and not so much difficulty in hiring people. There are thousands of students up the road at UCF form which to recruit!

      Response from the owner

Hello Paul, We are sorry to hear about your experience. Our crew are able to provide full-service through the drive-thru. So in order to continue to serve our members when there are staffing issues, we close the lobby and operate through the drive-thru. if i could give this bank less stars I would. I applied for a loan to help build my credit and got denied. I tried to refinance m vehicle through them and got denied. I tried changing my phone number through the app and couldn't do it. it kept asking for a text to my old number to verify. I spoke with their online chat service who said they changed it and its still trying to verify through my old number. I called and have been on hold for about an hour and half now. I would just be quicker if I tried communicating with them through carrier pigeon

i scheduled an appointment for an auto loan and showed up to the branch and the lobby was closed. i knocked on the door and no one came. someone else came up and knocked on the door and let them in. i yelled at the guy through the door and told him we had an appointment, to which he responded “with who?” and i showed him the appointment confirmation and he said he’d see what he has available and then he’d let us in. he let me sit outside in the heat for over 10 minutes waiting on him to let us inside. i ended up leaving of course. it was 90 degrees outside and i was not treated like how a guest should be. what is the point of scheduling an appointment if you’re not going to uphold the appointment on your end?

      Response from the owner

We are sorry to hear about our experience, Brooke, and will have a member of our team reach out to help.

My loan officer, Seth True, went above and beyond for me. He took the time to explain my options, and ultimately made me much more comfortable, after the lies and poor customer service from the dealership. I’ll be sure to refer friends and family his way! Thanks Seth.

You would think a great credit union like fairwinds would provide premiere customer service to their customers. When I went in on Thursday to apply for an auto loan, thats the opposite of what I got. CJ McDevitt, a financial advisor, was assigned to help me find more information on getting an auto loan through them. After giving him all of my information (social security, proof of income, credit score, etc.), he tells me he'll call me when he needs more information. He later calls me and says he also need proof of identity and residency before my loan can be approved, which are requirements for a car loan. I have both of these items and I tell him I have my valid driver's license, utility bills, and lease agreement to my home address that I can use. He decides to tell me I'm only allow to use a passport or a green card to prove my identity and prove I'm a resident of the United states. Now, when you're an college Asian male like me, you're thinking to yourself, that's a little suspicious. Why do I need a passport or a greencard to prove my identity? Why can't I use my valid driver's license? When you go voting, you usually use your license or voting  card for your identification. Not everyone has a passport, let alone, a green-card in the United states. I talked to my dad about this situation and he told me I never had a passport in my life and I should be able to use my license for the auto loan. CJ refused my phone calls when I try to confront him about this. I even emailed him and told him about the whole situation and I never got a response. The next day, I got a call from his assistant, and she let me know that my loan application didn't go through. I know not every bank or credit union will approve you of a loan, but just tell me the reason on why I didnt get approved. You don't have to discriminate because I don't look like I'm from here or let alone lie about it to my face. At least have the decency to call your clients yourself and let them know whether or not a loan is approved.

I had an appointment a week ago for a credit auto loan with the manager of this branch, her name is Shea I think, they ran my credit and they never sent me an answer, today I come and she tells me that she still has to ask what is the maximum that they would approve me , waste of time that damages my credit

      Response from the owner

Fairwinds don't care about their members concerns and complaints. My money was stuck in the ATM on 12/30 and has never been found as of 1/13/17. They said they counted the money and their was no overage, well what's cameras for. Cameras catch what the book sometimes don't catch. It's sad how banks operate when it comes to a customer complaint. I've had this happen a few years ago @ another bank about my money and my debit card was stuck in the ATM. I immediately went into the bank and thank God the branch manger took the time to see what machine I used and he told me to wait a few minutes while he check the machine. Yes he gave me my card and my cash that was stuck in there as well, but this credit Union on Sandlake has too many issues. I spoke with a regular customer on 12/31 and she told me that this particular branch ATM always had issues during certain holidays, I asked her will she please let them know about the ATM because it wouldn't work for her as well, and she said ma'am I will let them know because I'm a regular here. All I know is that it's not fair that you get the run around about your money and no one looks at the camera to see what happened. If this is the case I need to own and operate a bank and get rich off of not finding customers money that was deposited in the ATM. It makes me wonder if someone would have robbed the bank or a customer then they would look at the cameras in a heartbeat, but when a member makes a complaint about the ATM deposit all I got was "ma'am we're sorry but we didn't find it. God sees everything and knows everything so if this credit union wants to operate and keep innocent members money then continue because one day it will be revealed and yes I will be informing everyone to beware of any banks that doesn't have a member at heart. I'm planning to move forward with this matter even if I have to go to court. It's not always the big things that matters but it's sometimes the small things that makes the difference in the world. Have a wonderful year Fairwinds members and anyone whom is searching for a bank.

Mortgage/Loan department: Total disrespect and disregard for customers. Disgusting treatment. Lack of integrity, zero transparency, disrespect, inappropriate personal remarks made about us, incomplete, inconsistent and incorrect information given to us ... this was the flavor of the day. Every day. For over 45 days. Basically we are just waiting out our 12 month obligation to sell the home so we can get rid of any association or connection with Fairwinds Credit Union. Any kind of affiliation with this dispicably managed organization is a tarnish and embarassment to our integrity, reputation and character. We would not wish our experience on our worst enemies.

I moved to Orlando 6 years ago, leaving my small town credit union behind. I went through Bank of America, Wellsdargo, Regions all with terrible customer service policies and add on fees. One in particular of three literally manipulated transaction times for their benefit, not even offering any assistance. I started attending UCF in 2015 and wanted a bank on campus and loved my credit union back home. Fairwinds has be nothing but just and fair. I love that if there is no funds in the account the card does not work, my card was stolen and charged and they worked quickly again to resolve it giving me a new card and the money back. Only thing for this location I wish there was a walk up ATM other than the drive up
