Bank local! I switched to ECSB from BoA over seven years ago and it was the best decision I could have made. They might not have ATMs everywhere, but they have checking accounts that don't charge you fees for using ATMs at other banks AND they reimburse you any ATM fees those banks charge you! Mobile deposit through their app makes deposits easy, and online account management that offers bill pay, money transfer, and e-statements means you get same features as the big banks with much better, friendlier, LOCAL customer service.

I use their ATM at the Highland Ave., Somerville location. 8 out of 10 times I go there the ATM is out of service. It's very frustrating and not good business in my opinion.
