Desert Financial Credit Union Reviews

Leo5I had a great experience here when I went in today. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by multiple employees. I ended up working with the employee furthest from the door and they were extremely professional. I performed my transaction, then needed a title notarized and they did that for me. The entire transaction from start to finish was extremely quick and the employee helped during the whole process, as well as answered all my questions. It feels great being able to walk into such a friendly branch, if this was near my home it would be my go to! I wish I could give the employee credit, but they did not have a name tag on… Thanks for the great customer service!
Response from the ownerThank you for your positive, and thorough, review, Leo! We are delighted to hear that you had a quick and speedy experience. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service!

Kristen Boisvert1This is the worst bank I've ever had. I talked my husband into getting an account here when we got married. I had an account in high school before I moved to California and had to close it and thought it was great. Boy was I so wrong. We've had nothing but issues. Our accounts been frozen for 3 days. Of course it first froze Friday after hours and had no way to get a hold of anyone until Monday. Finally got a hold of someone who had nothing but disgusting attitude. Trust me and take your banking anywhere but desert financial.
Response from the ownerHi Kristen, we are so sorry to hear that you've had a poor experience with us recently. If this issue has continued, would you please send us an email at [email protected]? We'd love the opportunity to make things right.

Edward Rus3The Tempe branch is hit or miss compared to most branches. It’s a large branch with different tellers, and these tellers vary wildly. I’ve had two positive interactions, and three negative ones. It doesn’t have the most welcoming atmosphere, but that’s mostly due to the age of the branch’s interior. As a Gen Zer, I seldom need to go into the branch, so my main gripe with this organization as a member is not the branches themselves, even though the service at the branches are mixed. Overall, Desert Financial is a Credit Union that needs to get with the times. I’ve advocated for Zelle partnerships with no need for it myself because it is the smart thing to do when competing with large banks and Fintechs. Unfortunately, I did eventually need to use Zelle in partnership with a big bank as a means to send first months rent to an apartment I was securing. It was only then that I went against my staunchly pro Credit Union stance and opened an account with Chase. I still have my Desert Financial Account, but given the lack of technological progress, I don’t know that I will be using it as often.
Response from the ownerThank you for sharing your feedback! We work hard to continually improve in all areas, including technology. In fact, technology is one of our primary areas of focus for this year, and we have plans to continue to upgrade our products and services so we can better serve our members online. One of those items is an improved person-to-person payment system that we hope to implement in the coming months. If you have more feedback in these areas or in others, we would love to hear from you via email to [email protected]. We appreciate your membership.

Jacob Edward Scoins1I don't think I've ever given something a 1-star but I have to do it here. Anytime I try to deposit money at the ATM it never works. It takes my money, correctly recognizes the amount I put in, just to cancel at the last moment and spit it out. EVERY ATM here does this, both the drive-through ones and the one at the front. Total obnoxious waste of time, been this way for months. I'm sure the guy running the PR account will reply to this with a generic "Sorry! email us for support 🙂" message. All that needs to be done is to just fix the ATMs. Why can't I take a functioning ATM for granted???
Response from the ownerThank you for letting us know! We've made sure that our team is aware of the issue and will address it promptly.

M Roberts (Senacharim)1Used to be a fine local credit union, but they reorganized themselves into being just another bank. Combine this with lack of non-local infrastructure, and this is a place to avoid.
Response from the ownerWe're so sorry to hear that you haven't had a good experience with us of late. We are fully based in Arizona, including our headquarters, call center and all branch locations. If you have further feedback to share in these two areas, we would be grateful to hear from you via email to [email protected]. Thank you for your membership.

Sand paddler2We banked with this institution for many years and the services that it provides to it's customers has declined drastically over the past few years. The 75th Avenue branch is the worst bank branch we have ever experienced. The Tempe branch customer service is why I even added stars to my rating.
Response from the ownerHello, thank you for your comment and your membership. We are sorry to hear about your experience. I will be passing this feedback along to the appropriate team members so we can continue to work on providing a better member experience to all members.

OJA 78993The institution itself is quick and convenient when you need something done in person. If you need help over the phone though however you probably won't get a response, I've been calling the last few days and end up being put on hold for over an hour and each time to no avail, it's incredibly frustrating because this is vital stuff related to employment. Usually when your on hold for awhile someone gets to you eventually, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
Response from the ownerWe are so sorry to hear about your experience with our over-the-phone customer service. We will let the appropriate team know. Meanwhile, if there is anything we can do to help you please let us know via email at [email protected].

Sam J1I honestly hate leaving bad reviews. This is probably the 8th time I’ve written one out for DF and didn’t post. I can’t tell you how much time I’ve waisted going here. Either the machines are down or they run your card the wrong way when you try to pay your car and then they tell you that they can’t run it again for 24 hours. I can’t emphasize enough how terrible this bank is. Avoid it. There are plenty of other banks out there that are functional to say the least.
Response from the ownerHi Sam, we are so sorry to hear about your experience! If you have any recommendations for us or if we can assist you in any way, please send us an email at [email protected].

Mick Whitaker1Find another branch. Even though there was a line of 8 people, there were only two tellers working. The ATM 'retained' my debit card, I had to get a new one, which means I have to update all the accounts that use my card. They didn't even say my name right when they finally printed my card.
Response from the ownerSo sorry to hear about this experience. If there is anything else we can do to help please email us at [email protected].
