We have been with this bank for about 8 or 9 yeard now and overall are happy but lately some things have slipped. Pros: - rates are competitive. We have had multiple loans here over the years and they are low interest and quick to approve us. - love the giddy up account to encourage saving - mostly friendly (occasionally someone I speak with is rude, but most of the time they are pleasant) - Golden location is pretty and easy to get to Cons: - some major inconveniences. You have to drive to either Frisco or Golden to sign a loan document. Other banks we bank with do this electronically now which is much more 21st century and saves us an hour drive one way - the mobile app!!!!! It USED to be great until very recently, now it won't even open which means I can no longer do mobile deposits or bill pay from my phone. This is pushing us to go into a shared bank location to do these things which is very frustrating. - auto deposits.... we have bi-weekly check deposits from our employer. They used to get credited to our account promptly at 8am (sometimes even before!) But recently it has been closer to 9 or 10 o'clock when I check and it is still not done which is scary considering we also have a high $$ bill autodeducting on these days and we need our checks to be credited first to avoid an overdraft situation.

      Response from the owner

Mary, thank you for providing us such thorough and honest feedback. We appreciate your membership and thank you for listing out all of the pros about CUR! Let's get to the cons... We have beefed up our Lending processing team in the recent months to streamline and digitize the lending experience with our members. Leveraging e-sign options, we want to be able to have you sign documents via your preference. The majority of our members living in mountain communities, we have to prioritize our ability to remotely connect with members and I'm excited for our team to take on this initiative in 2019! Regarding the mobile app, phone companies came out with a recent release for newer phones that paralyzed the entire industry. A few days ago an update was released to the mobile applications at CUR and it should have fixed your issue. We have had a member of our team reach out to you to ensure you can get logged in. Finally, you hit the nail on the head with ANOTHER very important enhancement that our Accounting department is taking on which is automation with our deposits and withdrawals to accounts. Our goal is to have this at 12:01am on the day that it is due. Regardless, I have pinged that department to ensure that they are posting your deposits in the time that you're used to. We value your membership and my job is to turn this 3-star experience into a 5-star.

Don't waste your time and a headache on a bank that is the worst I have ever dealt with they screw their customers over at every turn they shut your cards off without any warning before they've even sent you new cards they are worthless

      Response from the owner

Zach, we sincerely apologize for the experience you're having with our cards. We changed cards vendors to provide a better experience, and the card manufacturer created cards with faulty chips in them. Regardless, those vendor errors are ours to own. If you email us at [email protected] we'll do whatever we can to make this experience better for you.

When I first received my loan here about a year ago I had a horrible experience calling in to make a payment, I left a review and a manager contacted me apologized and asked me to remove the negative comment. I appreciated the call and removed the comment. It definitely hasn't gotten any better lol The hold times are absolutely ridiculous, the employees give conflicting information and don't seem to know what they are talking about. Definitely wouldn't recommend this credit union to anyone.

      Response from the owner

Catherine, I too thought we had this resolved - we'll be reaching out to make sure you have the right information.

I needed a loan to buy a car from a private seller, and CU Rockies went above and beyond. The seller was particularly difficult, stubborn, and oddly shy about sharing critical info like his address. Luckily, Lindsay was extremely helpful in finding ways to modify their standard procedure to appease the seller. I would not have gotten this level of service at one of the huge banks. She was extremely personable, professional, and prompt. Lindsay worked to ensure that my out-of-state purchase was a success, so I didn't have to cancel my flight to get the car. The loan rate was very competitive and there were zero origination fees to set up the loan. 10/10 would finance here again.

      Response from the owner

Brandon, nothing makes us happier than to see we delivered an exemplary member experience! We know that our members have busy schedules and we do our best to put ourselves in the drivers seat to help you achieve your financial dreams! Please let Lindsay or anyone know if we can assist you with anything else!

This is a small credit union that doesn't offer much. Expect to be on hold for at least 20 minutes and pay a 15 dollar charge on paying on car loan. It just feels like Credit Union of the Rockies does everything possible to squeeze any extra money they can out of you plus customer service is terrible. I'm stuck with them until I finish paying my off my loan, I don't recommend Credit Union of the Rockies.

      Response from the owner

George, thank you for the feedback and the review! Hold times are something we have been constantly working on lowering since CV19 hit. The $15 pass-thru fee for paying your loan from a non-CUR account we actually just had a conference call with our vendor on today (we are making $0.00 on that). You're right - we are small and so our scale is a bit different. What we do best is different - and getting better - and only with this kind of feedback will it continue to get better. You can always email us at [email protected] if hold times are too long. Thank you for your business, patience, and community involvement by banking with a local not-for-profit credit union.

I have been a member of Credit Union of the Rockies for over 28 years and my husband for over 30. We have had nothing but positive experiences. We have been members of other credit unions and banks, but have eventually closed all of those accounts because they paled in comparison to the services and help we've gotten at the Rockies. In response to the reviewer who said his savings was drained for a monthly fee...the only monthly fee that I am aware of is for receiving a physical monthly statement. This can be avoided by getting an electronic statement. I have never been charged a monthly fee for anything in the 28+ years of being a member.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for such a nice review! Sorry we're late to a reply but we wanted to say thank you!

Credit union of the Rockies garnished part of my stimulus check, against the guidance of Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, and against the law of the state I live in ( California). This was a conscious decision that put profits over people during a trying time. I've struggled to get what's remaining back from them. They neither have the community focuse of a small bank, or the convenience of a larger bank. I found their bank to be encumbersom, but the one highlight being the Frisco branch customer service(their other branch being a small office in a businesspark). For simple checking with true no overdrafts your better off choosing a online bank

      Response from the owner

I'd love to talk to you more about this in person because we always seek for mutually beneficial solutions but do make the best decisions we can for the membership as a whole and as financial stewards of those monies. I plan on calling you to speak to this directly or please email us at [email protected]. Thanks for your feedback!

I like credit unions and local businesses. However I have been trying to work with a particular loan officer for months just to get a simple refinance. I am not the one to review places, but when it comes to needing this institution financial support. They have not provided this to me. Can't even get a call from the loan officer. Poor. Otherwise getting a loan is easy (of course) and low interest rates.

      Response from the owner

We recognized this too and made a change. Give us another chance?
