Steve Foute5This company provided excellent customer service and professionalism. Tivona closed us on time and was friendly. Thank you.

J F5To all the folks that say you cannot make a car payment online are wrong, I do this every month with the mobile app on my phone, I see all my accounts and simply transfer the exact amount from production account to auto loan account and it pushes the 'date due' back another month. It's really nice. And it is that simple. I've been with this credit union for MANY years, I won't go with another institution. The only problem I have with them is there is NO standard to the security question they ask when you get to the call center. I've had people authorize into my account just by the tone of my voice. YES this actually happened. If I was a multi millionaire, I wouldn't bank with them; simply because of the security protocols that I do not agree with. I want tighter security.
Response from the ownerThank you Jesse for your terrific review and feedback. We appreciate hearing from our members regarding their experiences. We are very happy to have you as a loyal member and we will relay your comments to our call center to help improve our processes. Thank you again!

Meghan Tuton1I would not recommend this bank to anyone. Customer service is terrible, you can’t complete simple tasks without going through so many loop holes. Once my vehicle is paid off I will definitely never finance through this bank ever again. I should have read all the terrible reviews prior to refinancing with them.
Response from the ownerMeghan – Member Service is one of our highest priorities so I apologize this hasn’t been your experience. We would like to hear more about your situation to see what we can do to improve the situation. You can contact me, Cheryl Bowman directly at 303.239.1191 or [email protected].

Brian Polk5I don't usually write reviews online, because the audience doesn't know me, and I was never one to take advice from strangers. That said, there seems to be a lot of negative feedback online and I felt like I should offer at least a positive perspective: I personally have never had anything but courteous, helpful interactions with this credit union. All the other horror stories that appear as reviews on here happened to me when I had a bank account with a major financial institution (not to be mentioned here, but one that was "Too Big To Fail" and received large gifts from tax payers; but that's neither here nor there), but not at the Credit Union of Denver. First of all, this credit union doesn't have hidden fees like other financial institutions, so I never feel like I'm getting ripped off. I have also never experienced any negative customer service, and I have been a member for almost 14 years. I almost always go to the Auraria location, so maybe that has something to do with it. Anyway, I always recommend this credit union to people who bank with Too Big To Fails or institutions that have fees for everything. It's just a better way to go.

Maiya Newmin1They have a limit of 6 transfers between checking and savings a month. If you hit that limit they basically cut you off from your savings account and leave you high and dry for the rest of the month and then charge you 30 in over draft fees even though you have money in your accounts. They've repeatedly frozen my card when I've needed it and done nothing when I was a victim of fraud. The guy on the phone is the worst customer service representative I've ever talked to and was absolutely no help in this situation or any other time I've called in. Definitely leaving this bank.
Response from the ownerMaiya – Regulation D is a government regulation that will only allow 6 electronic transfers from savings per month. It is true that no further electronic transfers will take place once you have reach the limit for the month, but you can make as many transfers as you would like in person here at the credit union or at one of our 3,500 Shared Branch Locations. I have emailed you directly regarding the overdraft fees you referenced in your review. If you would like to discuss the situation further, you can reach Cheryl at 303.239.1191 or Debbie at 303.239.1145.

Caleb Brooks1I thought this was a great credit union. That was until their customer service reps with no phone etiquette and their supervisors who hang up on you and make snide remarks about the most ridiculous policies I have ever heard decided to make me think otherwise. This credit union believes it is ok to charge an Overdraft fee on the same day that you deposit your regular paycheck. Direct deposit isn't available to me, so every other Friday I deposit my paycheck. But since they run automatic withdrawals at midnight, the refuse to refund any overdraft fees even if I am there to deposit my check at 7am when they open. What a horrible way of trying to make money off the consumer. I am closing my account immediately.

Jeff Moore3My wife has been a member for 20+ years; I’ve been a member for 15+ years. CU Denver in the past has always been a hit with us. We’ve had excellent service from their fraud protection department, and auto loan department in the recent past. However our recent experience with their Mortgage processing department was frankly pretty bad. We have plenty of equity, good credit, no late payments ect.. We were denied the HELOC, which is fine actually, it’s not like we are running around with an 820 credit score and 32% DTI, every lenders dream come true. The BAD part was the reasons for the denial were drastically inaccurate. First they said my DTI was 55% which it’s NOT, it’s actually 42%, and then they said I have maxed out credit cards which I also DO NOT have. My CC balances are less than 8% total across 4 CC’s. Then they said we have a history of missed payments which we DO NOT have, seeing as we have two auto loans though C.U. Denver without any missed payments they should know that. Then they said we are showing “A escalation of debt” whatever the hell that means seeing as we were looking to consolidate our “A escalation of debt” into a HELOC. Which by the way is, THE MAIN REASON PEOPLE GET A HELOC. If you’re looking for a good credit union for auto’s, credit cards, and signature loans they are not too bad and pretty solid. If you’re looking for mortgage services, HELOC’s, seconds, ect.. I’d look elsewhere, U.S. Bank approved our HELOC on the same day C.U. Denver denied it……..just FYI you might be better serviced.
Response from the ownerJeff - We appreciate your honest feedback highlighting areas that we had met or exceeded your expectation as well as the area we fell short. We appreciate your membership! If you would like to discuss this issue further, you can contact Debra Meyer directly at 303.239.1145.

Star Climber2My spouse and I have been a member for 8 or more years. What people say about the horrible customer service is true. I have had some good experience with certain reps, but there are some, especially Alicia who are just terrible. We moved out of state, and I can't tell you how many times, Alicia passive aggressively referred to my spouse as my "husband" even though she knows that my spouse is a woman. It was just this vile anti-gay passive aggressiveness. And what people have said about them trying to make you feel stupid about things you are calling in to find out about is true. Also, it is very true that they are painfully out of date in their policies. If you need to add your spouse to your account, or wish to set up transfers from one account to another, or online banking, or whatever, they require physically signed documents that you can't even fax in, you have to mail in if you live out of state. One good thing is that their security is very tight, so if you experience fraud, they usually shut your card down before someone else can pull money off of it. However, this can also be frustrating, when you are traveling, or ordering something from overseas, as I have had experiences where legitimate purchases were denied, and I had to call in and say yes, I was really purchasing that. We just got two new debit cards, and tried to activate them over the phone, and they didn't recognize my spouse's social security, and then wanted us to enter a phone number and the card activation said that our phone number wasn't the one they had on records. But it IS the phone number that CU Denver has on file. So that tells me that they have multiple computer file systems and they don't update all their systems all at once when you have them update their information. They just seem very dated like they think everyone still lives in a paper mail universe before the internet. They have strong security, but almost obtrusive in it's cumbersomeness. And some of their customer service reps really need to be fired.
Response from the ownerSara, we apologize for the service you received and also appreciate that you took the time to let us know. We would like to discuss your experiences a bit further. Please send us an email through our secure email portal on our website. Include your phone number and the best time of day we can reach you. We will then reach out to you to learn more about the circumstances surrounding your experiences. Thank you again for helping us become better for you and our other members.

G A1Been a member for over 30 years. Today was the first time I ever talked to Shelley Hertel. She is their investment advisor. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! She knows nothing, is not helpful, and will waste your time while not advising in any way that is productive.

tom conley5I've had nothing but a positive experience when dealing with the CUD. Their rates on loans are the best I've found and customer service is unrivaled. Being a government employee and experiencing a furlough twice now, I truly appreciate CUD's willingness to help. I am a customer for life!!
Response from the ownerTom – We value and appreciate your membership and thank you for such a positive review!
