Credit Union of America Reviews

A C1The Derby branch Credit Union of America used to do fairly good business but when I went there today to make a loan payment inside, I was treated as though I was no longer valued as an existing customer. The young woman with long dark hair was not helpful and ranted on that in the future I may have to wait for hours for a "loan" employee to take a payment IF they aren't busy. I guess because they no longer have inside bank tellers since their remodel? So, unless you have cash or check on hand to pay in the drive-thru, mail in your payment, pay online/through text w/a fee, or be charged $10 by phone, you'll be treated as though you're an inconvenience to them if you attempt to make payments inside the bank.

Amy Luginbill4They have changed to digital tellers and I am not a big fan. I have had more issues with deposits and cashing checks ever since this change.

Suzanne Bailey5I recently changed my rating from 1 to 5. They refunded my overdraft fees due to fraud and reported the incident.

Ashley B5I have been a member here for over year after changing over from another institution. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. They are quick to work on whatever I need, even when they are busy. I lose my debit card a lot, and Jared and Garret are always quick to help me replace it.

Daina Blencoe5My husband and I took out a car loan and had a positive experience with Garrett who made it so easy we refinanced a second car loan with the Derby branch of Credit Union of America. I recommend anyone looking to take out a loan to talk to this branch. The manager and staff are friendly and helpful.

Annette Landwehr5Visited this location to close an old account, was instantly greeted by a nice young man who quickly and politely did the task. The place was neat and tidy, very welcoming. Good job today.

Jeff N1Pay attention to changes on your accounts. Make 100% sure if you open an account they create the correct account for you. We opened three kids savings accounts for their Christmas, birthday, etc.. money. Because it was a kids account no fees are charged. We hadn't checked on the accounts for a while because of the no minimums/fees but when we did they were almost $0. Their excuse is do to lack of activity fees were charged because they messed up and made it a regular savings account, sorry for your luck. No immediate action was taken to fix by the branch until I contacted customer service.

Crystal E1I used to love this place. I have 4 checking accounts, 2 savings account, 1 credit card, 1 auto loan and 1 signature loan plus about 4 other loans I have paid off. However it's gone downhill lately and long holds on check deposits or funds not available for days. But the worse part is no one can tell me what the policy is as I get a different answer ever time.... It will be a hassle but ready to change because it shouldn't be so difficult to put money INTO a bank
Response from the ownerHi Crystal, we apologize for the inconsistent responses you’ve received on check holds. Here are our policies: When using the ATM to deposit a check, $200 is available immediately and the rest is put on hold for 2 business days. When using SnapCheck on our mobile app, $1,000 is available immediately and the rest is put on hold for 2 business days. When using a teller and depositing a payroll check or a check you’ve deposited before, we will typically make funds available. However, that is up to the discretion of the teller based on the circumstances at hand. They will make the member aware before the transaction is over if a longer hold will be placed for any reason. They’ll also explain why, and when the funds will be available. We understand what a hassle it can be to move accounts and switch financial institutions. We value your membership and want to make things right. Please direct message us if you’d like a manager to contact you. Thank you.

about blank1The woman managing late on 11/28/17 was extremely unprofessional. Instead of sitting down with me to explain the caveats of opening a new account, she chose to lean in the doorway and ask me "what's up with your account at x bank?" She just stood there, waiting me to ansswer with "what do you mean? Waiting for more questions instead of addressing concerns and treating me appropriately. Josh, on the other hand, was very professional, personable and happy.
