Citywide Home Loans Reviews

Jess Boyer1I have waited a long time to write this post because I was hoping somehow this wouldn’t turn out the way it did. To keep it short, we applied for a home loan in January/February of 2017 in hopes of buying a home the following summer just before we got married. We thought this would be plenty of time. Found a place in the beginning of June that was less than what we prequalified for by quite a bit. We did everything that City Wide asked. Wrote letters, had employers and schools and everyone else send in tons of letters and assurances outside of the norm to satisfy the lender. Well, after an extension we were at the week before our wedding (in August). Still weren’t cleared and weren’t going to be. Well, we couldn’t afford another extension or the risk of not having a place to live. So finally we had to walk away from a place we easily should have had. We lost two months, money for escrow, money for inspection and got married the following week. James, our broker, reached out and said he would give us our escrow back because he felt that was good business (agreed). We told him not to worry because we knew the risks but he insisted! After reaching out many times with no response I finally decided to write a review. We should have had this place, no one told us we weren’t qualified. No one explained in the end why we didn’t get it. Where in the process did we misunderstand? We were told by this company that we could qualify for X amount. Well, we went for less and it didn’t work. This wasn’t a small amount of money to toss out the window because someone told us we would qualify for more. We trusted and believed that the process would work and almost ended up homeless a week before we got married. I didn’t want to name drop because James is super nice, but in the end he was supposed to be the one to get this for us. We were so dissapppinted and wish this wasn’t our story. I want so bad to give this a better rating, but just can’t. One star.
