City Credit Union Reviews

Devon Pool1If I could give minus stars I would. These people do not communicate with you on changes they make to your loan. The payment amount changed and we got zero heads up. Since payments are auto drafted, the account showed delinquent for the difference and it hit my credit. Customer Service is terrible and when you call you WILL randomly get disconnected and when you finally get ahold of someone they will not be able to explain the changes to you.

D C1This credit union is an absolute scam. They use hidden fee tactics to profit. I applied for a car loan and was approved September of 2018. To apply, however, you're required to open up a savings account. So I open the savings account with a minimum $5 deposit. Lo and behold I end up not following through with the loan and opted for a lease through Audi instead at the time. 6 months later I receive the FIRST notice that my savings account has a negative balance (-$10) and the letter serves as my last notice before they close the account and report my unpaid balance to credit bureaus. So let me get this straight... I open a savings account as required to apply for a loan... I let the $5 I deposited sit in the savings account... and you continue to charge me $5 per month in fees of inactivity after 90 days of account open even after your own fees brought my account into a negative balance?? Oh and get this... when I call in the "customer service" rep showed zero empathy and even stated that the only way to close the account would be to bring it back to a $0 balance, which she can take payment over the phone for an additional $3 fee!! Lol no thanks, you've already stolen my $5 I refuse to give you an additional $13 for no services provided. This place is an absolute scam!!

The Well Nut1I will never use CCU again. After paying off a loan EARLY, they charged me accruing interest for the time lapse on a wire transfer which I had to use because all their local sites are closed due to shutdown. Then when I called in and held 1 hour to pay the difference by phone (only option) they tried to charge me another $20 fee for paying off the loan before a year had lapsed! I have never heard of being charged fees for paying off a balance EARLY. Never again. Worst customer service EVER!

Seth Ray5The staff was very attentive to my needs toward opening an IRA CD. The whole process, including assistance with transferring my investments from a my current bank into a City Credit Union account, was made simple and seamless. I am very impressed with the service i received.

Mike Maynard1FEES! Regardless of who is at fault. I have an auto loan and pay my bills on time every month using my bank's billpay system. CCU apparently is so antiquated, they don't accept electronic transfers from my bank so a check is mailed to them. For some reason, my check didn't make it to them this month - lost in the mail, who knows. I was notified of this, contacted my bank, I'm getting reimbursed from my bank BUT CCU, being the nice friend folks they are, still insist on charging me $25 late fee. I understand it's not their fault, but it's not mine either!! Work with your customers on issues out of their control!! So you're GREAT business decision is to take $25 from me. GO AHEAD! Take it! I'm paying off my loan immediately!! YOU JUST LOST ROUGHLY $300 IN INTEREST (from the amount I would've continued to borrow from you), !!! ...OVER A TWENTY FIVE DOLLAR ($25) FEE... !!! not to mention a customer for life! Nice job! Horrible business decision!!

Grace Speese3Not impressed, but not bad. I used this credit union to get a debt consolidation loan and they did offer the best rate of the 5-6 banks I applied to - so yay for that!! The paperwork process was a hassle, but hey it happens. Otherwise, my main complaint is they charged me for a Life Insurance premium which I called about and had to sign an opt-out form - for something I never opted in for. I already have a life insurance policy and I specifically remember declining this when offered, but it was still put on my account. I have now had to call a second time to get that charge refunded. So I'm a little perturbed about that, as I only ever wanted/applied for a loan. I cannot offer a review of any other banking services they provide, so I'll leave it with - if you need a great rate for a loan, go here! Just be ready for a little hassle, possibly a headache, and be attentive to your account.

Ashley Crowl1I woulud give them a half star if I could. I am locked out of my online banking and the app. The closest branch to me can't help, I've waited on the phone for over and hour, while also waiting over an hour for the "online chat" they claim is so effecient. I have gone through this process multiple times over the last two weeks and I have not been able to get anyone on the phone. I waited almost 3 hours last weel on one call. TERRIBLE SERVICE.

Austin Buster5Dominique Hunter has been one of the best loan officers I have ever had the pleasure of working with! As a car dealer we take great consideration about where we send out customers for financing. We want to make sure that our customers have a great friendly easy experience and get the best rate possible! Dominique and City Credit union always make that happen! Thank you!

Dan Azouz1This is by far the worst financial institution I have ever dealt with, and I am doing everything I can to disconnect from their irresponsible operations. 1. City Credit Union gives incorrect balances for checking accounts on their web site. It can sometimes take 3 or 4 days for a charge to be processed, so you cannot depend on what they say you have. 2. City Credit Union will not own up to their mistakes. Their customer service reps are poorly trained and repeatedly give conflicting information. 3. City Credit Union stacks the deck on their loans so that it is very difficult to make principal payments. Sometimes they charge for making a payment, and at other times they claim there should be no charge. You cannot make principal payments through their web site. 4. My debit card was frozen one weekend. I called to ask why and was told it was because I was making a $450 purchase at a Walmart (I was buying a TV). I was told that if I had an issue, I'd need to call back on Monday. I was out of town and had to scrounge to find a way to pay for my food and gas so I could get home. Of course, I had over $4,000 in the account but that wasn't their problem, it was mine. This happened to me two more times. I stopped using their debit card altogether. I could list more things but I think you get the idea. These guys suck. Don't bank with them. If you do, you will regret it.
